Those are placed to damp engine vibrations to the maximum.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Any rubber, with time, will get hard and brittle. It gets dried out and looses it's adaptive qualities. Please correct me if wrong.

          • Searched internet for a while, and found that the rubber inserts between the fins bring down engine noise. Vibes are absorbed too.

            • Finally my RTR decides to lighten my wallet after running trouble-free for 18,978 kms! Gave the bike for its 7th service. I'm getting the Brakepads and Spark plug changed. Brake pads cost Rs 350 each and Spark plug costs around 120. Bike has few more issues:

              1. The headlights and console lights were going dim whenever the bike revved more than 7K RPM. The Svc Engg saidit might be a RR issue.
              2. The Kill switch wont work whenever the Headlights are turned on. Svc engg suspects issue with the switch-gear.
              3. The RPM sometimes gets stuck at 2K and doesnt return back to the the 1.2K idling. It returns only if I engage the clutch and get the bike moving.

I will be getting the bike delivered tomorrow. Hope the bill aint more!

Have a query. Would the RR unit be replaced under warranty? Does running a 55 Watt headlight bring down the life of the RR?

              • exhaust

                hey friends
i have heard about catalytic converter in silencer of Apache rtr 180 is it true??

and i was thinking of customizing my exhaust just like pulsar NS 200 (through my dad friends factory who deals with creating thing with metal) or any other exhaust shape but idea is to compact it

i have heard that pulsar NS 200 has catalytic converter so small that it fits in header pipe of silencer itself so any any idea where i can get so small atalytic converter or if i remove it what are pros and cons ???

                • Hi all,
When do you suggest a change of oil for my white menace? I have clocked 7200kms on odo and still running on TVS Tru4. Many fellow RTR'ers recommended Motul 300v FS, but as I see here, FS doesn't go so well with RTR. So should I stick to Semi-synth??
                  Waiting for your suggestions

Please let me know if this works (point 2, now in bold). I'm also facing this for some time now.

BTW, afaik RR life should not be affected by using higher wattage bulb. RR just rectifies(convert to DC) and regulates the charging to the battery...

I would say its a completely personal choice... If the bike is running fine for you with teh Tru4, stick to it! simple

Thanks Lijo. Sure I will keep you updated.

Another quick question (I'm a noob, so bear with me ) : The brake fluid has turned rather dark from the reddish color which it had earlier. Time to change the fluid?

You could try Motul 5100 4T 10W40. It's a gem of an oil. AFAIK, it's the proper semi-synthetic oil in the market (you could go for it, as the bike has done enough kms). Price 495 INR. Be sure to replace the oil filter too. Drain period of this oil would be around 4000kms.

P.S. Decided to stick with the Shell Advance Ultra. Bought a pack to top up yesterday. Fallen in love with the smoothness and response it's giving Even the exhaust note is nice and even.

                            Can use double-sided tape too.

                                Front sprocket prices-
                                Apache RTR 160(13T): Rs. 139
                                Apache RTR 180(14T): Rs. 99

These 're not interchangable. SVC plonged-in a 13T into my Apache 180 since, they didn't have a 14T and this has affected the gear-ratios, in turn the 'at Xth gear/Y000rpm, speed = ABkm/hr' figures. Surely, there is a drop in the top speed. The acceleration is hopeless too. Vibrations start and end early. There's no signature feel of the stock.
After waiting for a long time(1000kms), I could source a 14T from TVS, which I will replace asap! Hell with 13T and Apache 180 combo!!
