    • I am using Collinite 845 from around 4/5 months. The shine , smoothness it provide is really awesome . Water won't stay on bikes body . Only issue i am facing is when i park bike in market , FLY's got attracted towards my ZMR , maybe cause its white , but no such issue with Passion .

Wow, thanks Pinaki. That was very useful info.
How does Turtlewax compare with Waxpol (orange)?
The advantage i see is turtlewax has an applicator packaged and is softer wax.

Collinite #845 sealing wax is an excellent carnauba wax formulation . If I was living in USA/Canada I'd certainly have been using it . But steady supply of the genuine stuff is difficult to ensure in here . One of my eccentricities is that I like to buy local stuff wherever I am at any time . Like people who live in mountains build their house with stone mainly , wood near forests, and those near river with mud or kilned mud bricks .
Another reason for the flies may be that carnauba-wax is edible . It is commonly used to coat desserts, candies and chocolate etc . Can't explain their favour for the white kari though, perhaps they go for the bigger meal .

Turtle's hard-shell wax is very good , I'd say it is almost as good as Waxpol's, if you do get the genuine stuff . Forget the package and applicator etc .. the stuff inside the tin is what matters to us . Turtle's is a bit softer - presumably because it contains more solvents etc , and it dries out in the tin in a few years . Softer means it contains less carnauba wax . In it's pure natural form carnauba wax blocks are as hard as concrete . So now you know why Waxpol is so difficult to remove once it inadvertently dries on the paint . They mix in various proportions of other waxes like beeswax , solvents , silicone , synthetic-polymer, paint sealants etc etc to make it softer to various degree or impart more gloss . Turtle being softer also means it is easier to use .
In short , if you can afford and get genuine tin of turtle , use it ... I have used it , no problem . Shine is superb .

Rubdown with ordinary rubbing compound and rags , then do a good waxing to maintain the shine and save from tarnish .

          • I found an online site that seems genuine enough and it sells all the different type of waxes, car polish, car shampoo etc etc.but I tried posting the link but it's not appearing.

            • @Pinaki - Thank you sir ever so much. Iam learning so much from the posts here. Love this forum. I will go for Waxpol, or Turtle if iam able to source the original.

              Btw, a general query:
when iam riding my bike and it starts to jerk because fuel has run out, i immediately turn fuel knob to Reserve (R), and the bike continues to run smoothly. Now, when i go to the petrol pump to refuel, should i turn the knob back to Open (O) or let it be in R when the attendant is filling up the tank. Does it make any difference?

Also, how does the reserve mechanism work? is the petrol tank partitioned into two sections?

@gallifrey - you mean the link does not appear in your post after submitting it or you are not being allowed to post links. The link would have been so helpful to people here looking for genuine stuff.

I would second what wind ride is saying. Even I'm learning so many things from learned members from this forum.it's a truly eye opening experience

The link appears but whatever address you type it appears as www.***********.com so when you click it, it says page not found.

To clarify further, the name of the site gets replaced by asterisks.

                      Picture from P220 thread,posted by arjunb25.

No,the petrol tank is not partitioned but the reserve mechanism is very simple.

                      In layman's terms,

Petrol tap in "On" mode gets petrol from the tallest pipe,in reserve mode it gets from the shorter pipe.

If the petrol level in the tank falls below the level of tall pipe, engine starts jerking and then stops,if you switch it to reserve then petrol flows through the shorter pipe.

So you can see that if you tilt the bike to left side, petrol will come to carburetor and you can run few more kilometers and remember that reserve value will never be accurate.

Riding the bike Reserve setting allows you to deplete the main as well as the reserve.
There is no no harm, except that you may run out of fuel and get stranded without any warning if you don't keep an eye on the fuel gauge.
