My bike is having a birthday tomorrow (24th) going to complete its 9 years....i thought to make it perfect internally & externally washing and polishing it with wax...to give it a new look....and wanted to do something (celebrate i dont know how) which i've never done in these 9 years....and i'm fail to do it what i thought. Where one blame is goes to this Jamshedpur where there is lack of availability of many products. You cant get even if u search the whole city.
Never mind, have a belated birthday celebration for your bike!!
Btw, do not throw away your 'polished' valves and other stuff. Next month I'm coming to JSR and will surely visit you and your possessions!
O.T.: And yes, jsr has this biggest problem of availability of products. Would you believe it if I said that Fairdeal Bajaj told a guy, (I know through a biker forum on FB) that 200NS doesn't exist at all!!! and they did not limit their stupidity to that; when he showed them a picture of the 200NS, they laughed it off by saying that it was photoshopped!! Ignorance is bliss for them! I wonder how does it do business. And all the new showroom they have constructed for nothing??? What Shit!!

      • Those valves do look very nice . Well, there is another reason why it's surface is left unfinished , it is so that oil can spread on it for lubrication . Oil does not climb or stay on well on mirror finished metal surfaces like that . Something to do with capillary action I think .

Anyway since you've done something new , like Sibun'Jee I would suggest that you keep riding on it like it is for sometime unless there is some big problem . Who knows it may turn out unexpectedly for the better . Test it out before you put in those new parts anyway, no hurry . Same for your post - you should have kept it on the thread - I loved your detailed pics and your enthusiasm .

Now I'm confused....if i done that wrong then do u think its worth testing it? I was almost decided to open!!
and how oil can come to that finish there is no way. If it comes it'll get into combustion chamber.

          • 1) you have no major problem running the bike now ? no smoke from exhaust etc hopefully ?
            2) you have the new parts , you can do it anytime - what is the hurry ?
            3) on running the bike for sometime a fresh thin layer of carbon should naturally build up and somewhat makeup for the tiny tolerance gap etc you may have created ...
            4) People have discovered many new things from mistakes like this .
            5) there is no chance of any catastrophic damage to the engine from this .

Clean and tune the carburetor and plugs and run it .

Other's please correct me , I may be wrong in this - I believe there should be lubrication on the valve springs and stems and the oil is prevented from the combustion chamber by the valve-stem-oil-seals , no ?

Yes u r right a lubrication should be done before valves are placed. I got from this source Dan's Motorcycle "Valves"
reading this now and i come to know one more of my mistake is....i haven't lubricate

Very good. But i would suggest keep looking out at shops. Usually waxpol is sold at a discount on its MRP. I picked up the only tin available at a nearby shop for rs.120/- (MRP of 127/- for 200ml tin).
Pinaki-ji seems to get it even cheaper?

                • Yesterday changed 3 bulbs in meter console to led's & putted 5 ah battery in my passion . I just folded the old battery box instead of cutting , but the bigger battery is not staying at its place just coming forward resulting in opening of side pannel . If anyone done any modification to battery cage please post some photos .

Shoeb i think you have added bigger battery , if so please post photos . And if i remember correctly you saying somewhere about rear drum eating linears fastly , same with my bike so which linears to use ? My passion has small rear drum

There is nothing written, i dont think is made by Taparia. but whatever it is its good to use quality is fine. The bigger socket and handle i've is from taparia but i dont feel any outstanding quality in those its just fine.

I dont know what i'm gonna do...carbon is necessary to built and i've polished to get rid of it....suppose if carbon doesnt stay on it, it will fall into the bore and may damage it for long run...i dont know but that is my prediction. Its also creating noise like tappets. I've bought the new valves to replace. but others saying to run and test it, u may end up with something different....but i dont want to take a risk for long term damage to my engine anyhow. That noise is worrying me.....i'm confused

This is how I end-up with

I'm posting the pictures so that newbies who haven't seen or know about these (like me) can know about.

Grits shows how fine is the sand paper, the larger the number (grit) means more fine = more cost. I got one piece of each 1000, 1500 & 2000 for Rs.100

The top one is 600 grit, then 1000, 1500 & 2000-(scissor on it)

what about these, (the attachments)they are also valves.

Most companies who sell valves purchase forged valve blanks and machine and process to the required standards.Your new ones , the mating surface and steps are machined so they are shiny and other places nothing is done so they are rough.
Don't feel you have done a great wrong ,you wasted your resources.i.e. all.
Instead you should have purchased a bottle of carbon tetra chloride <Rs.100 and cleaned all the carbon with a clean cloth. You could also change rings as your photo shows carbon on the bore ,also rather than purchase new you could have hard chromed the stem and checked the absolute seating with Dan's method that you were reading.Any way happened is happened , ride some more and then take a judicious action.

                        • Guys do we have to switch the fuel switch to off position after turning off the engine ?

I am using ANL brake shoes and in my case it is lasting more than OE shoes.
New ANL shoes take up-to 5-10km to set it properly.

Yesterday I happened to check the shoes(done 500km) and after cleaning and aligning the drum correctly, the brake bites furiously and locks the wheel in no time if same force as OE is applied.

Extremely satisfied with ANL brake shoes, would recommend it to everyone .

                            • Guys one good news is my pickup has increased and i enjoy riding, but on the other hand, bad news is when i tried to tune the carburettor and without increasing the rmp from ideal screw, i turn the air screw clock wise and when its fully closed, as i know engine stalls and even turned off. but in my case there was no response in rmp increase/decrease, it was same. The engine was even running
I know there is nothing wrong with my carburettor coz 500 kms before i've adjusted and it was fine that time.
