Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Dear Harikishen,
Looks cool
Please let me know you have done this. I am also interested to do same for my CD Dawn.
As it is not having fuel indicator second dial seems like dead.
Please guide me.
Also can i add fuel gauge & tachometer on CD Dawn?

Clean the carb and mount it back on snugly sir jiOriginally posted by Pinaki View PostOk , I checked that just now - no petrol smell in oil at all & and oil level is ok , just between max & min marks where filled to about 4 months and 1400 kms back . Oil is due for change now . Run is low nowadays owing to changed work schedule but I stick to my oil change schedule anyway .
What do you 2 think about the petrol smell in the airbox then ? Any idea ?
(hope the rubber mountings havent developed any cracks/leaks)
Also clean the air filter while you are at it.. do you feel any 'wetness' (apart from the oil on the filter) then observe for a cpl of days and sniff again and let us know how its doing.

Very well done. Good job!Originally posted by harikishen View PostIn the ht coil or ignition coil under the tank.
What I know is tacho needs a signal receiver in order to work. The pre-fitted automobiles have a different ignition, they have separate more points to connect to tacho. Otherwise our ignition have only have power input (one ground and another connected to cdi). I'm sure u souldnt have connected to that. I have read that a copper wire needs to be round up in outer of ignition cable and connecting each end to the tacho would work. But I was thinking how did you get it worked man? There are two wires In the ht coil. Black yellow and green. The speedo will have a same black yellow wire. Thats where you get the signal.Originally posted by paul.1911 View PostVery well done. Good job!

Yes yes its the same which I mention above. Green is grounded and yellow black comes from cdi.... I didn't knew that tacho would work in that line. Thanks..Originally posted by harikishen View PostThere are two wires In the ht coil. Black yellow and green. The speedo will have a same black yellow wire. I was actually on a car forum and people were fittimg the tacho of a A-star in m800 and wagon r's. Then I finally thought of having it in mine tooOriginally posted by paul.1911 View PostYes yes its the same which I mention above. Green is grounded and yellow black comes from cdi.... All electronic a/c tachos work by taking the pulse from the cdi out. Only in digital d/c tachos there is a separate line for tacho.Originally posted by paul.1911 View PostYes yes its the same which I mention above. Green is grounded and yellow black comes from cdi.... The copper wire thing is for ht coils which have a body earth and no cdi earth line.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
You can't have a fuel indicator since you don't have a fuel float in your tank. If you put this speedo only the tacho will be functionalOriginally posted by ybedekar View PostDear Harikishen,

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
I guess there won't be a provision. You need to switch tanks with a splendor. If you had an option the company would have got it to you. Don't ask me when you had an option of tacho and the company didn't give itOriginally posted by ybedekar View PostBut fuel tank is almost same. I can fix float also there may be provision

You can put a float in. But it wld take significant and precise cutting and welding. Since the guage was not built for your tank you may not get an accurate read though.Originally posted by ybedekar View PostBut fuel tank is almost same. I can fix float also there may be provision

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Have seen the latest discussion in this thread but couldn't reply due to some problems with net connectivity.
As the on going discussion is going on about tachometer then as Bibhu has said that there are two types of tachometer as in DC and AC tachometer. All bikes that have tachometer has a separate provision for tachometer signal wire. But that doesn't mean that bikes that do not have tachometer cannot be fitted with. Already i have discussed that in this thread itself some 1-2 years ago, but we didn't pursue further on it as i was not interested in the tachometer.
Instead of fitting it to the CDI output wire( black wire with yellow line on it), we can fit it to the pulsar coil input from the magnet. The pulsar coil input is always a blue wire with a white line on it. It is the safest method of giving signal to tacho as pulsar coil gives low voltage which will not damage the tacho circuit. Almost all bikes takes output from pulsar coil input from CDI for tacho functioning. Tacho reads the rpm by calaculating the time taken for 6 pulses of signal given by pulsar coil and thus calculates the rpm.
And in bikes with TPS the TPS is resetted with disconnecting pulsar coil wire and connecting it with 12v supply. So it is always a better idea to send the trigger from pulse coil rather than CDI output as it gives a voltage of 400v at high rpm.
@ybedakar- No you cannot fit float in your tank. For fitting that you have to cut a square portion from the middle of tank and fit the float which is the worst idea in my book as cutting the tank will cause the tank to rust at latter date.
The solution is to get a CD- DELUXE tank as you can see the deluxe and dawn tank as are all same. So by fitting that you can fit the float, but it is an expensive proportion as tank comes at around Rs.4500.
So what you can do is instead get the first model libero meter which contains only tachometer and no fuel meter and thus you can fit it. In that way there is no need of making for a fuel meter provision.
Pinaki- I have got your PM but decided to post it here instead for the benefit of all members as the cause for your fuel smell in air box is because of your intake valve leakage. Duje to your less running the intake valve has started to leak. So time has come for a valve job. Ride it for some more and then get the valves polished.Photo of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/854067-post963.html-3.88 lac km cont....Ownership review of my joy- http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/832255-post608.html- slowly updating as and when getting time. Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Why 6 pulses from coil ? Does that amount to every one spark or one rpm ? I have measured the pulses on the spark-plug cable itself with frequency-multimeter probe wound on the cable , but not directly connected . But I don't know the factor needed to calculate meaningful RPM reading from from that .
Great idea with the CD-Deluxe tank for fuel meter addition on the CD-dawn . Does this tank indeed cost that much nowadays ? I was quoted around र 1,500.00 by Yamaha workshop for replacement of my RX tank when I had it .
Indeed I wanted your reply here only for benefit of all , I shall check the carburettor parts for traces of blowback from intake valve when I get around to clean it . Waiting for my shop to get me a can of carb cleaner . Yes , my average daily running is not more than 10-15 kms now , wish I could ride more .
Another problem has developed after servicing the front forks with new seals and oil . Initially it was working fantastically . But soon after it has again become bouncy and it is not bottoming out at all , even in the deepest road pits . It compresses well when I weight down on the handle with the front brakes applied , but near the end of the compress travel there is a mild spring noise that sounds like a single "tang" . I am afraid I may not have released all the air from the fork bottom after filling the fresh oil . Also maybe some fitting error with the springs - though I can't imagine what . So this weekend I shall take out the fork tubes and open the top bolt to try release / bleed off trapped air - if any . Any idea what is causing the spring sound ? It's coming from the left side stanchion only . However while riding there is this excess bounce , but no noise or spring sound . Hopefully I could explain this correctly
.
