    Hello everyone. ..
This is my first post in the forum. I introduce myself as a proud owner of the Thunderbird 500. Its over a week that I have owned my bike and the experience so far has been amazing. The odometer reads approximately 415 kms. I have faced very few problems till now. Apart from gear shifting and a somewhat hard kick, the bike has been amazing. This baby rides like a joy...the power and acceleration is just amazing. The bike is stable and very well balanced...its a head turner...I have cars slow down as they pass by me as I ride my bike....Royal Enfield has done a remarkable job in terms of handling and ride quality apart from stunning looks !!

I also own a Bajaj discover...and compared to the 'bird it seems just a toy..I will post pics of the Bird soon....

Yah..You are correct about the parking space..infact in my garage i can easily park my Ritz, The 'Bird, a bajaj discover and still have some space left.

I bought the air-fly crash guard from the showroom itself. They charged me 1050/- bucks for that. I was hoping to get the diamond one but it interferes with your feet. The air-fly crash guard is okay with the Thunderbird. As far as the safety gear is concerned I have Studds ninja 3g helmet.. i am planning to buy riding boots, gloves and jacket soon.

I can feel your excitement in your posts . Reminds me of my gestation period. I was going nuts waiting for delivery. im sure you may have made your list of PDI by now yet I thought I share with you my PRI & PDI list (compiled from various sources including XBHP and my own experience)

Until my bike arrives, nothing to do except devouring everything related to it online .

You got it from Bandra and had booked in October if I remember right?
Yes I booked it on 13th Oct (2 days after it was launched) at the brand store in Bandra.

I am getting two long bars (made of steel) chrome plated which I am planning to use as crash guards instead of the air fly one

Bad experience at the service center today. At 540+ kms I took my 'Bird for its first servicing but had to return back as I was informed at the service center that there stock of engine oil was nil !!!! The new stock will arrive only after a week ! I was hoping to get the first servicing done today itself as I have planned a short trip in the weekend

That sucks! Well if you really want to make that weekend trip i have a suggestion but it may cost you some money. Call the ASC and check if you could BYOO (Bring your own oil) and get your bike serviced. If they agree you could get the servicing done tomorrow (it takes only a couple of hours) and enjoy your bird all weekend long

                      Hey Guys,

As always I am looking suggestions for all the guru's out here, I have made these changes

1: Front tire changed to Pirelli 110/90
                      2 : Rear tire & Rim :
                      Pirelli 120/90 18' & rim to 18' Classic one
3: Carburettor changes to 220 pulsar
                      4: Air Filter : K&N E0900
5: Spark Plug & Cable : NGK spark plug both, Cable couldn't find original & so filled chinese one, could only fit in 1, so still looking for NGK original Racing Cable if any one can suggest were I can find on in Delhi & will it fill in both slots.

Gone for change silencer, custom one.
I also read somewhere that after rear rim change also change the
sprocket to classic 500 one 18T Thunderbirds has 15t, so I read about it & find that after change there is reduces the pick-up & rpm at bit & pros are reduce vibration, increases top speed so asked the mechanic he said not required so can any suggest wither its a good option or not.

Also I looking to change the front reflector to metallic reflector as soon as find one.

So what I looking for is are there any other changes which I can do for increase performance & stability

                      Thanks,
                      Ripu Daman

buddy, based on my personal experience with a recent crash, i dont think those long bars will be able to sustain the 200kg vehicle.

cool mods! btw, how much did the tyres cost ? and isn't the front heavy with a 110 tyre ? did the front mud guard accomodate the width ? do post a few pics. about the sprocket change, one member oilburner said :
"the only difference it makes is to compensate for rim dia reduction .if you wont change the front sprocket engine rpms will be a bit higher than usual for same speed for eg if you are getting 60 km at 2500 rpm earlier then with 18 inch and old sprocket it will be around 2800 rpm for 60 km at same gear.so if you fit classic 350's front sprocket ie 16 T gear ratio will remain same .that is the reason classic 350 has 16 T front sprocket while rear is same at 38 Teeth. its easily available at Re store for around 450 rs and is straight and direct fit no mods required."

I had emailed customercare@royalenfield in April & told them to expedite delivery as I am getting very busy from June plus I needed to get some experience in before the rains. They forwarded my email to my dealer who didn't bother to reply until I sent a reminder. Of course, nothing came out of it.

I am fed up, one will say we just delivered 2 Twilight in March, only 14 came in April ... other fellow will say good quantity came in April, you should get in May. I was around 25th on list last month so I was foolishly optimistic that I will get in May because the new plant has commenced with Desert Storm & TB models only for now.

Why can't they call us and keep us informed? Why can't they have an online tracking system?
