Today; had a word with ZMR engineer at regional office in Delhi. During our conversation i ask him about the change in engine oil grade for my ZMR. he says to avoid it because other grade will not work properly and create oil leakage in ZMR....

and this is something true..because i used a YamaLube and Oil Leakage problem has occurred in my ZMR...now waiting for parts to come (Oil Seal and Tapped Bolt) and fix it...
Oil grade change would lead to oil leakage ! how it is possible ? is the oil gonna eat packing of engines & leading to leak what you think ? The engineer you talked is employee of HH/HM so he will surely not prompt any oil other than HH/HM , have you asked him is putting same grade Engine oil 10w30 of another manufacturer like gulf , castrol , pennzoil etc will also lead to oil change ?

The oil having ZMR picture is not available at SVC , only splendour , super splendour & pleasure flavours of HH oil available . If anyone going to ASC please check if that oil available & is there any changes or its just a stikering job ?

Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

He is an employee of HM...senior position...he suggest to have an recommended grade oil (10w30) only and can be of any brand...

              • Hello Bikers,

This is my first post on xbhp...Thanks to my bro "Xbhp Drifter" in whose footsteps I follow. A surprising fact...have never ridden a bike till today. Sat on classic, p220 and cbr250r to get a feel of the riding position...and the best i felt was cbr250r. After several brainstorming sessions and reading almost every post for Honda CBR250r, karizma zmr and Enfield classic...shortlisted karizma (never sat on this bike till today). I feel its the most practical city ride (My purpose : To and fro from office at Andheri and ofcourse a lil bit power for occasional touring). I have booked a Hero Karizma Zmr and awaiting her delivery this diwali. Kindly assist me with below queries.

                1. Dealer says no accessories with the bike...not even helmet..is this normal for a bike that costs 1.13 lacs? ( I have my bro's extra helmet..a huge motocross one...Dont like it though)
                2. Mandatory things to check for, when i go to collect my bike on the d-day?
                3. What should a novice rider like me be careful of, while riding the karizma?
                4. No leg guard....anything else to protect the bike during fall? (other than Frame slider, since its not available for karizma)
                5. I am applying for a learning license. Do i get it on the same day when i go to RTO?
                6. I am 5ft 7.5in, 92 kgs..Is it enough to handle Zmr? ( i felt the cbr250r vey light..I guess, bcoz the seating is low. Heard karizma's the tallest..hence the concern)

Planning to ride Drifter's unicorn and then touch the karizma. Still have a month with me till delivery.

I have read the touring blogs of alankar, vishwas and sachin....awe inspiring.

Lastly and most importantly......I am happy to be a part of this community. Spare me for my childish queries.

Ok will shift to another oil company if the ZMR flavour of HM oil not available at next service

Welcome bro , nice to know you selected & booked ZMR .
                  About your queries
                  1) No extra accessories are given with bike , even not the body cover , some dealer offers seat cover & grips but they include charges in cost for it .
                  2) Check for crashes , colour damage etc.
& radiator cover needs to be removed , also check if the water drainage is working or not by putting just some drops of water in the small hole in petrol tank lid if that water reaches to ground then its ok , if it won't reach ground then ask them to clear it.
                  3) As this is your first bike i suggest control your nerves & don't stretch it . It is a 223cc
                  4) No protector so far , just drive safe .
                  5) Get a learning license within next week , cause you need to apply for permanant license minimum after one month & it would be good if you have permanant license when you get ZMR .
                  6) No problem with you height & weight ZMR is simply superb do a test drive of it & you better know it.

If that yamalube caused a oil leak and damaged your tappet bolt you have/had other problems in your bike to worry about . Compared to the only herohonda oil , the yamalubes are seriously good oils , custom made for yamaha by no less than motul , in several useful grades and types . The oil seal may have gone leaky , yes that's possible , but how can an oil damage your tappet bolt and make it necessary to replace ? Whatever it was , it wasn't the oil ... IMHO .
Are you sure he was an engineer and not a marketing guy ? Cause he is using an old marketing ploy called FUD ,i.e create fear , uncertainty & doubt in the customer's mind against competitive products , to promote his oil . Moreover, he is lying .

Other Oils YamaLube, Motul etc are good no doubt about it...

HM engineer says that HM oil is only recommended because the parts inside the engine are designed / accumulate only the recommended grade oil...it can cause oil leakage....

Well from my side i used YamaLube..works fine ...oil leakage occurs...also year back i used an EOA (Engine Oil Additive) at that time too there was an leakage problem occur in my ZMR...

The person i talk is not a marketing guy, he is an ZMR enginner specially trained for ZMR and i have meet him personally during the feedback session organized by HM in Aug. 2010...i don't know whether he is lying or not...but the problem he is mentioning on other oil grade has occurred in my ZMR...

What do you mean by "Radiator cover needs to be removed" ? This bike has a Radiator??

ZMR has a radiator for cooling purpose , there is a cover comes attached to it to avoid damage , which needs to be removed so air can contact radiator & it can serve its cooling purpose . So be sure to remove it before getting delivery & collect that cover so you can attach it during washing & avoid bending of radiator fins
