i think you only need to purchase a spanner of 10-11 size for accelerator and clutch adjustment.Originally posted by sarkartheruler View PostWas cleaning the bike today. Disappointed to see many minor scratches everywhere. Seem unavoidable.

For brakes no adjustment required as zmr have disc brakes.
For fairing a star screwdriver is already provided in the toolkit.
For wheel removal another set of spanners is needed according to the size of nut and bolt.someone else here can tell you about the exact size of the spanner needed, as I am not sure of that.

Hello Everyone
Simran Gill this side... I am new to xbhp.
My first bike was Pulsar 150 DTSi, 2006 model.
However, I booked a Karizma ZMR (black) on Dec 21st and my new Karizma ZMR is due for delivery tomorrow.
Please allow me to ask something, for which I need urgent suggestions...
I am planning to change my stock tyres (especially rear) on my Karizma ZMR, right after delivery; since I have been reading forums on xbhp and found that the stock rear tyre in Karizma ZMR does not provide enough grip.
Is it right to do so at such an early stage?? Or, should I wait for a few months??
All suggestions and comments will be greatly appreciated...

Stock rear tire isn't very bad, not too good either. Its decent for city and highway use in all seasons except rains. It doesn't provide enough confidence in cornering being a thin tire. But wear and tear is marginal because its a hard compound tire. I'd suggest you to use the stock tire for the time being, get used to the power and ergonomics of the bike first.
I used the tire for 17k kms before upgrading to Pirelli Sport Demon 110. Mileage has dropped by a mere 1 kmpl thereafter. Hence, nothing to worry on that part.
Do post the pics of your new bike soon.

Naah, ZMR is primarily air cooled, like all naked bikes. The oil cooling funda is twisted though. Here, the engine is not oil cooled. Rather, the oil is cooled by passing it through the radiator so that when it flows back to the engine, it gets cooler by the time and help in keeping the engine temp under control.Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostBTW, ZMR is oil cooled rite. Here - Bike Body Cover - Black Color(Especially for Hero Karizma ZMR) | eBayOriginally posted by sarkartheruler View Post
For the running in period, maintain below 4K RPM for 500 kms. But you MUST occasionally hit past 5-5.5K RPM in short bursts for a few seconds. For the next 500 kms, again ride within 4K RPM, but increase those short bursts to 6-6.5K RPM.
Get your oil replaced in the first service at (or before) 500 kms.
Post 1000 kms, you can take your bike till 7-7.5K RPM till your odo reaches 2k kms.
P.S - Accelerate linearly and don't go to high speeds for long intervals. 10-15 seconds is enough.
Post 2000-2500 kms (after second service), try red lining in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears from time to time.
RIDE SAFE. Ride hard, but NOT like a maniac!Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Within warranty, you HAVE to get your bike for service "every 2000 kms or within 60 days, whichever is earlier".Originally posted by Jay Kumar Azad View PostI bought my zmr on 2/5/12 with first service being done on 16/7/12 at 500km while second at 18/9/12 at 2200km. What I want to confirm is that do I still have the warranty or is it void? If void, why?
Moreover, what's the customer support mail id of HeroMotoCorp.
Gap between your purchase and 1st service is 74 days (approx) and again for the 2nd service it is 62 days.
Theoretically, the warranty is void but you can always build a good rapport with the SVC engineers and promise them that you'll be in time in future.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Moreover, what's the customer support mail id of HeroMotoCorp. In my owners manual on each service cupon it is mentioned as " ......-...... km or 365 days from the date of purchase whichever comes earlier " So i think there is no problem if one do first servicing in just 5 days of purchase or on 6th month if the bike km is in range of service km , as you are doing service before 365 days . So i think there is no problem of warrenty .Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostWithin warranty, you HAVE to get your bike for service "every 2000 kms or within 60 days, whichever is earlier".

Check your service cupons in owners manual , if there is something different then you need to follow it to get warrenty .

Meaning in every oil cooled bike this is the funda? I knew the oil would get cooled in the radiator and the same would be used for cooling the engine. So all oil cooled bikes (indian market) are primarily air cooled??Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostNaah, ZMR is primarily air cooled, like all naked bikes. Mine shows 3000 km gap or 100 days from previous service. For paid services, it is 90 days.Originally posted by Above_All View PostIn my owners manual on each service cupon it is mentioned as " ......-...... km or 365 days from the date of purchase whichever comes earlier " So i think there is no problem if one do first servicing in just 5 days of purchase or on 6th month if the bike km is in range of service km , as you are doing service before 365 days . yours might be the new one with HERO branding. even on the website in service schedule it is mentioned that 60days for first service and 100days thereafter. The second service is now at3000-3500km while earlier it was at 2000-2500km.Originally posted by sarkartheruler View PostMine shows 3000 km gap or 100 days from previous service. 1000km has been increased in almost all bikes now, for achiever also its the same. However, I didn't checked the other models, but I guess its the same for all.
Earlier the recommended engine oil for Karizma(I guess for other bikes too)was 20w40 but now they changed it to 10w30, but engines are the same. Even the oil drain interval is now 6000km. What a joke! I think all this is due to panicking situation, that Hero is in, after Honda split away. That's why they are now doing what they feels good to hold the market share...disc in Cbz and Hunk, led tail in hunk.Earlier they were just changing stickers that too after 3-4yrs.
That oil drain time and increase in service interval time is due to competition among indian manufacturers to create engines requiring less maintainence.Last edited by Jay Kumar Azad; 12-25-2012, 07:54 PM.
