    • How good is PSD over stock rear - personal experience

Had this incident yesterday. Was so busy ranting on FB that forgot to put it up here.

Anyways, here it goes. I was headed towards office at 7 AM in the morning and there is a particular T junction which had some 25 odd seconds while it was green.
      An FZ (unknown) accompanied.

I hope this rough diagram explains it.

There was a Nissan Sunny who simply didn't have the patience seeing nobody coming from the opposite lane (we were a bit far, but our speeds being in higher 50s we reached) and barged in! I braked hard and managed stopping within a feet from the passenger window, but the FZ went on to hit the bonnet.
There was a big brawl and finally the car wala apologized. The FZ rider was still negotiating for the repair cost et all and I continued to office. Nobody was seriously hurt!

Now when I think of it, my tires didn't skid or slip even though I stomped on both brake levers accompanied with downshifting from 5th to 3rd. But stock tires didn't like this behavior as I've had my rear locking and slipping a few times.

Thanking xbhp members for imparting good braking techniques to us and Pirelli for creating a sticky-like-leech tire.

      Ride safe.

      • my bike is 1 year and 9 months old. have covered 12k kms now my bike refuses to start all of a sudden this has happened the display lit up yesterday even that doesn't happen now i push started the bike yeste. will the battery give up all of a sudde without givving any symptoms. a tick tick tick sound comes when i turn the key and the screen flickers when i press the ignition button the display dies out!
all this happened all of a sudden. my horn was fine my headlight was okay had no starting trouble till now! i have been using a philips diamond vision 55w headlamp for the past 9 months. what could be the problem? the alternator or battery? or any other thing ?

i had a surprise seeing the hero website, this is what the site says about the engine :
Type Liquid Cooled, 4 - stroke single cylinder OHC, fuel injection
        raghav

It says Liquid cooled. Maybe a typo error or is there something big coming ?

The battery would be ok. Happened with me earlier.
Check the battery terminals. Maybe, they got loose. If that is proper, get the starter relay changed at the SVC.
Most probably, that'll solve the issue.
If that fails too, check the fuses under your seat. You'll find the culprit.

And that liquid cooling thing seems to be a mistake. I guess the typist was thinking about a CBR while updating!
That engine is Honda's, Hero can't fiddle with it!

            • Guys am about to buy ZMR.. The only showroom where ZMR is readily available has a 3 month old manfactured bike.. (10/09/2012 is the manufacturing date) .. Is it okay to get that bike or should i wait for 15-20 days and get the bike manufactured in december or jan ?

Actually,am a little skeptical about getting the 'old' September 2012 manufactured model because when i went to TD, the ZMR,they gave me the test drive on a new bike since they din't have any bike, specially for TD. The thing that bothers me is, i did go past 70kmph on a new bike. May be that would have affected the engine of the bike and whoever buys that bike now, would have to bear it. i don't want my bike to be in such condition.

what do u guys suggest in such a scenario ? Did u guys also get TD on a new model and how did you guys check if your bike had been driven before or it doesn't matter ?

                it matters dude
                dont buy that bike
                wait for the new lot
you can check if your bike is new or a test drive bike by checking the odometer and it should not be done more than 20kms

The showroom sales mngr said he has 2 bikes in his lot currently,One which i did TD on and one more. He specifically told me that the other one has not been test driven even once. But i don't believe him now .. :-/ and as for the oddometer,i have heard that the readings in the oddometer can be reversed to 0 by fitting a machine somewhere near chain which then pulls the chain in the reverse directn.. Its a confirm trick in old oddometers , don't know abt the digital one's

Will ask him for the new lot then .. Thanks

Speedo takes reading from front tire. And no you cant reset the speedo my turning it back, I had tried this when on my Kiney, when I was a kid.

                        • Guys I am facing an irritating issue regarding my ZMR's RVMs.
I have to tighten the main screw (which require allen key #6), everytime I unfold them before riding.
It's gotten to the point where, whenever I park my ZMR and fold the RVMs, they go loose...
Please suggest some solution, because I am tired of keeping and using the allen key every now and then.

There must be some other issue of losing of RVM...i always fold and unfold during ride..and doing the same from almost 3 years...no such issues...yes whenever i feel they have become hard on unfold/fold...i pure a little bit of oil...(i.e engine oil...machine oil...) and thereafter it works fine...
