Reneav, quoting this from 8 months back.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostIts going to cost you 350 + 100 fixing charge...
before doing this.. try to get the bearings greased.. that could fix the issue... take it to a local mechanic.. they will do their best to grease it.. if you take it to SVC, they will try to replace it in first go without making any attempt to grease it
My mech says he'd charge a whooping 300 for the cone set replacement as it requires a lot of work. I feel its way too much. Are you sure only 100 should be the labor charges?
I dread going to SVC since I can't stand in the service bay watching them work and I fear they'll induce more problems rather than solving.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Well.. they did the job in replacing the cone set properly.. here they dont ask me to go sit in the bay as i fight with them saying i had a bad experience of spares being changed without my knowledge, so i wanna see while my bije is being serviced. They are ok with it. I dont have to tell you this bro. You know it better..Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostReneav, quoting this from 8 months back.

Hmm, DL is much cheaper. So I'll have to shell out 300 for the same then.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostYes. It is a lot of work.. even yesterday while getting the Stator plate changed, they charged only 100/- and it involes lot of time and patience..Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

The mech charged 300 for labour even for me. For replacing the cone set. Forget snake like movements, mine used to almost take a freaking u-turn when i'd hit a bump. Atleast it felt like so! Start tinkering with your bike for no reason. At the max, you'll break a thing or two, but trust me you'll get to know it better.Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostThe mech charged 300 for labour even for me. For replacing the cone set. Upkeep and maintenance doesn't mean only oil change and washing at regular intervals, there are a lot many factors that play their role.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

When I get.back my bike, the first thing ill do is,remove fairing and den wash off all oil stains. And I got the carbon brushes worst case if pump goes bad.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostStart tinkering with your bike for no reason. Before tinkering any electrical or electronic things, study and gain info. Mechanical, you can make out how they are built when you were removing. To be successful, first do research and collect info.Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostWhen I get.back my bike, the first thing ill do is,remove fairing and den wash off all oil stains. Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Try replacing just the bearings first. I replaced them couple weeks ago, the grease had gone dry and the old bearings had suffered as a result. Got SKF bearings and SKF grease and the handlebar is quite smooth.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostProlly, the cone set *might* need replacement. Though the handle stays stright at 35+ speeds, the handle makes noises and is not free. Seems like something is rolling within.
Is my assumption of a busted cone set correct? How much does it cost BTW?
My symptoms were different though - I faced sudden wobbling issues after going over bumps. As advised by psr, I removed the swing arm bushes, cleaned them with kerosene, removed all rust, and greased them properly.
While I was at it, decided to replace the cone set too, but my mechanic friend advised that the cone set didn't have a problem, but we could replace the bearings, which is what we did, and liberally greased it.
Now, I'm able to lean into turns, which I wasn't able to do earlier. However, the bike seems to sway easily (or change dirwhen going over a bump. I attribute that to the long wheelbase, and it being much more free as a result of the greasing/bearing replacement.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Divya, better you replace the coneset. If you replace just bearings and grease it, and if the problem still persists, you need to open the bike again, which would be cumbersome and hectic and costly too. Replacing with new coneset at one go would be less hectic.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler
