Maybe rreneav1987 or abhi7013 can help Suraj with his post above.

So far I have covered 41,100 kms on my bike. Have 10 days before it turns 3. A long term ownership report is in the making. I guess my rear brake pads would last another 10k kms more lol. 4th set of front pads would be needed in another 1-2k kms.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Front Side Cowl Right – 1797.33
Side Bottow Cowl Left – close to 650/- if Old Stock available if new, then it is close to 850/-
Side Bottow Cowl Right – close to 650/- if Old Stock available if new, then it is close to 850/-
Front Screen (Visor) – 305.78
Headlight Assembly – 1171.00
Indicator Assembly Left – 224.00
Indicator Assembly Right – 224.00
Total - close to 7618.77
All the above are excluding Tax. Tax is 12.5%

Its going to be very difficult to get all the parts in one place. If you are in Delhi, my suggestion would be to go to R.K Motors in Dishad Garden or the Himigiri Automobiles just behind Jill Mill Metro station. You will get almost all the parts here for ZMR

P.S. These do not include the Inner Cowl which holds the fairing to the body of the bike. I haven’t purchased the inner cowl so not aware of the cost hope this helps. I don’t know about the side cowl and the rear cowl too J might have to change it soon though.

Thats an eye opener ravi. 14+ volt can easily leads to bubbling of water inside battery. In a sealed battery it could be troublesome. In a non sealed need to check water level for every 3 months.
Rreneav1987 : pulsar gets 14.2v just above 2k rpm. In your case it could be failed rr unit or worst case bad stator coil right from factory. Get a rr unit from others zma before that measure voltage at 4k rpm without load and with load. Connect to ur bike and check. Also connect your rr unit in the oher bike and compare the voltage. If there is no chamgemin output behaviour min your friend bike. Rr unit is not faulty. Next suspect is stator

The potential difference in a fully charged cell is around 2.25V = 13.5V for the 12V battery. If the battery voltage never goes above 13.5v means the battery is getting discharged all the time.

Thats just what I am gonna do today if my manager doesn't come to office none of my friends have a ZMA/ZMR so thats a big negative. had I been in Chennai, I would have had many options to check as I know a group of ZMA owners and my friends have ZMR.

So I am left with no other choice but to head to the SVC and find out if they have any ZMR for service and if any, ask them to get the RR unit checked by interchanging. if my RR Unit is working fine, then I will get the Stator/ Starter Plate changed as that will be the only culprit that can be damaging the batteries..

why I am ruling out Battery being at fault? well, there are many reasons. ever since I got my bike, I have had this issue with battery getting discharged if I ride my bike at night with headlights turned on for more than 30 minutes.. I got the battery changed from my dealer in warranty, initially they charged and returned the battery to me. later they agreed to get it replaced. got it done and same happened. I managed to use the same battery getting it charged or push starting the bike as I never had much time to visit the SVC (was working in a BPO) then changed the battery after 2 years of ownership hoping this will fix the issue. (I was a Noob) after just 3 months of purchase (didn't use much at night) the battery was completely discharged. but yes, I was using HID Projector so my doubt was the Projector was killing the battery. I removed the projector and tried to get the SF Sonic battery exchanged but they were AHoles. I decided to use my stock battery for some more time and then get the battery changed. meanwhile the Starter Relay went kaput and killed the battery. had a rough time.. took the bike to the nearby mechanic and got the Starter Relay changed and the Battery charged just to use for few more days. the weekend came, I went to Karol Bagh to get the battery changed (fitting 9AH Amaron Battery) got it done. the bike was running fine for 5 months till last week when the issue came up again.

so this is the History behind the problem

• Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

Guys, Got the issue resolved. The culprit was the Stator Plate. I took it to the SVC, they wanted to check from scratch. I didn't stop them. they wanted to check the relay. I said it is new and they skipped it. I checked if they had the ZMR RR Unit. they had it in stock, so asked them to check if it is the RR unit who is the culprit. they checked and it seemed to be doing the same thing as my RR Unit was doing. then they started whining saying that the battery is at fault blah blah blah. then I went to a mech that I know in that SVC. told him to check the Stator Plate. he went and checked if they had the Stator Plate in stock.. My Bad Luck, it wasn't in stock.

Then they called up another service center and asked if they had the stock, but that is quite far. i asked them to fit the parts back, i will go get it. then I noticed a new ZMR standing in the basement. I asked them why haven't they sold the bike. they said no one has come to book it and that bike has been standing there for almost 6 months. I noticed the Date of Manufacture as 16th of April 2013.. then I requested them to get the Stator Plate from that bike and fix it on my bike and asked them to order the Stator Plate and fix it back in that bike upon arrival. I thought they will disagree but without a word they were ok with it. The Manager said since you are our regular customer, we are doing this and I was pretty happy didn't have to waste money and fuel to go and get the stator Plate from the other service center.

Took almost 2 hrs to complete the process. upon fitting the new Stator Plate, the battery was charging perfectly fine then I checked with the Load and again, the battery was charging perfectly fine

Had to spend 1913/- in total.. 1677 for the Stator Plate.
the gasket on the left side had to be torn off to get to the Stator plate so had to replace it. 21.05/- and then 100/- for labor. and then balance was tax

few pics.

Noticed that the factory fitted Stator Plate of my bike was burnt. wondering if that was a defect that happened Day 1. as I was facing this problem from the very beginning. Feeling excited and now I really wanna go for a bike ride.. Yippeee

Thank you @sibun @Divya Sharan @psr sir @vijaycool ravi@17bhp buddy and all the others who helped me identify this problem. if a layman had been to service center, they would have definitely made him trust their words.

This is really happy news.. zmr and zma has 3 phase alternator. The reason for 3 and 2 phase alternator is if any phase of the alternator is burnt u wont stranded in the middle ofmthe road. This looks like factory defect like 1 phase is gone completely and rr unit takes 3 phase current to make sigle dc output.

Those guys would have known the issue . Past is past. Take it for a 50km ride and then test the battery voltage. It should be in the range as I mentioned before. 2014 should be blast for you. All teething issues has resolved.

I checked after I reached home. The reading are as below.

The battery was fully charged.
with ignition on - 12.78 Volts
idling - 13.6 Volts
at 3K RPM - 14.2 Volts
at 4K RPM - 14.5-14.6 Volts

with headlight on.

Idling - 13.4 Volts
at 3K RPM - 14.2 Volts
at 4K RPM - varying between 14.5 to 14.6 Volts

pretty happy with the results.. this should have been done long back. like you said.. past is past..

That's nice voltage output. I think you have swapped 9Ah amaron battery. As the battery was starving for charge I bet the plates would have been sulfated. If you know the battery guy try to push for exchange. Even if you need to pay some 500-800 bucks its worth
