              Thank you Divya!
Yes, I am varying the from 4k to 5.5k rpm- is that good? Or should the range be increased to 6-6.5k rpm?

Thanks for the product suggestion, was wondering which one to get, there are so many :P

Keep varying the rpm as mentioned above.

To protect the paint you have good packages available in 3M and if you want to do DIY then Eagle One, Meguires, Mother's has very good products in the market.

I use Eagle Washnwax shampoo, Meguires swirl remover, Amway Silicon glaze and Eagle spray wax for my car n Dio.

Sent from my FIAT Grande Punto 90hp
              Thank you ThePunter!
Sure, will vary the rpm as suggested.

I called up the nearest 3M care and they said that they don't do bikes !?! Any clarification on this?
Great to see that you use Amway Silicon Glaze, we use the same for our car :P

Added Eagle WashnWax, Carnuba and Meguires swirl remover to my list. Did you buy it online or locally?

For detailing if the eagle one nano wax is available in your area go ahead and use it, never found anything better than that and it's totally worth the money.

Else go ahead with either mothers or meguiars carnuba wax, currently I use this and it gives great results

Sure Snehith, almost everyone has suggested to vary the rpm- will follow
Already added Eagle Wax to my list! Hope I get it locally.

              Thanks for your suggestions

I won't recommend any specific wax/polish/chain lube because all have their own favorites as per results that suit them.

I'd talk on the run in part. One can do 100 kmph right out of the showroom. That means 6250 RPM in 5th. The trick is to reach there slowly and steadily.
Till 200-300 kms, hit speeds upto 85-90 kmph and post that try hitting 100 for a few seconds. The whole exercise is to expose the engine to various loads and temperature.

NEVER lug the engine. (LUG = KNOCKING)
                Upshift post 4k RPM.

1000 kms is NOT a magical figure. We assume that the engine components would bed in properly by then. Don't worry about the vibes now.

However I don't think there is an added advantage of completing the run in on a single/longer runs than completing it over a period of time, guess @psr sir can throw better light on this

Snehith, I don't if this is coincidence, but I am also planning on riding to Salem, my dear cousins stay there.
However from Hyderabad, the distance is ~800km, not sure if it is viable what do you suggest?

I still have to get the registration done. And, the service manual says that I have to take the bike for first service after 500km, so I would have to plan the trip only after the first service?

Can you elaborate more on this?
Can you tell more more about the procedure/protocol to be followed if I want to run-in the engine on a long ride?

You have already provided one point, more information will be highly valuable, will be waiting on your response.

                  Cheers,

Yes, true that everyone has their own favourites, the only reason I asked is because I don't know much about "wax/polish/chain lube" products, hence any information will help
Rpm question: Now, I get it Divya Sharan, thanks for explaining it in a simple yet concise manner!

Sure, will take measures to see that I don't lug the engine. Noted your point about up-shifting- this was useful.

Ahh for that distance i guess its's best you finish your first service and then go ahead else you might risk voiding your warranty too.

Go through this thread, has LOADS of info.

As for wax/polish recommendation, get a WAXPOL orange tin wax and a WAXPOL silicon polish. Bloody cheap things.
If in a mood to splurge, order imported products from bringingbest.in. There is a good combo available for ~1500.
You can ride a Motorcycle any day of the month. ;)

In simple terms DO NOT HOLD STEADY THROTTLE for more than 5 minutes, on the highway...even if the highway is without traffic...shift gear and increase or decrease RPM for 3~4 minutes, and then again go to top gear and keep varying the RPM for next 5~10 minutes, and again shift down and close throttle and let engine braking work till you come down to 30 Kmph, shift to 2nd, then accelerate , shift to 3rd, and so on...
The idea is to load the rings at different RPMs to let it bed in with the Cylinder wall to give good compression and long life....engine braking is good for rings settling in...
