Go through this thread, has LOADS of info.

As for wax/polish recommendation, get a WAXPOL orange tin wax and a WAXPOL silicon polish. Bloody cheap things.
If in a mood to splurge, order imported products from bringingbest.in. There is a good combo available for ~1500.
Thanks for the link, it does have good amount of info.

I got Meguires Swirl Remover from UK but now we can buy it from 3M.
Didn't about Autozone until you mentioned it. Will definitely pay a visit.

The idea is to load the rings at different RPMs to let it bed in with the Cylinder wall to give good compression and long life....engine breaking is good for rings settling in...
Thank you very much for explaining it.
Will follow as you mentioned

psr sir, I have a very basic question w.r.t warranty guys above (Snehith and Abhishek) are talking about.
Say I bought my bike from ABC dealer in BLR. I decide to do a run in ride (within limits of course) to Salem and back.

So BLR-Salem-BLR should be 410 kms approx. Say I have done 200 kms already. So I reach Salem with my ODO somewhere at 400+ kms.
I can very well get my bike serviced at any authorized HMC dealer named XYZ dealer in Salem right? This shouldn't affect any warranty.

Because I bought my bike from Jharkhand and used to service it in Chennai and now ride in Bangalore and still whenever I visit any ASC, they don't talk of my warranty having gotten void!
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Bro.. as long as you are getting the bike serviced from an ASC.. You are good to go... not everyone will be staying in the same place as from where they got their bike/car...

say for example.. my car/bike was bought in Delhi.. but now I stay in UP.. so if I take the bike to any ASC in UP.. its not going to void my warranty... unless I meddled around with them like doing some mods which are not as specified..

If I wrong.. please feel free to correct me

I mentioned about warranty being void as he said he would have to travel 800kms just one way, so unless he decides to stop over at blr and get the bike serviced then by the time he reaches Salem he would have exceeded 300kms over the Scheduled service interval. This definitely would void warranty

Warranty is not effected if serviced at any ASC in india in the Scheduled interval, I know that a plus or minus 50-100kms/a week or two is ignored but anything beyond that certainly would void warranty. I remember having this conversation with the service manager, hero motors at rajajinagar during my first service

It has been twice the RVM base mount button head screws got rounded and twice I have to drill(use left hand turning drill) it out. With Hero not having as spare bolts I got them from Ranigunj here in Hyderabad. Click image for larger version

Instead of going for the Allen Key bolts.. you could have gone for the normal + screw type bolt.. I am using the normal type and it is more than easily available and easy to remove when needed..

Divya Sharan Exactly as psr sir explained. I purchased my bike from Jharkhand, serviced it in Kolkata (1st 2/3 services), got some parts replaced under warranty from Kolkata (and Asansol) as well as Ranchi (apart from jamshedpur)! National warranty/service is what Hero provides and it is simply unbeatable!

HI Guys!

Thanks for all your suggestions regarding External Bike Care products.
But, I am in a dilemma- someone mentioned that 3M offers bike detailing and I have confirmed the same from their website, however, I am not able to find 3M bike detailing centres in Hyderabad, does anybody have any information on this?

One person from 3M car care mentioned that calling the toll-free helpline may help, they have already closed so will call tomorrow.

I wanted to give 3M a try before going the DIY way.
Anyway, I also wanted your opinion on this Care Kit from Bringing Best : BB Impex Car Care Kit-1

The above combo seems to be popular among bikers in the Bike Detailing thread, many people have gone for this combo!
Please let me know of your opinion. @g K didn't you buy this combo?

Cheers,
Abhi

Yes I did! If you wish to go DIY way, be assured that these are the best products. Collinite 845 is an awesome wax as well as the FK stuff. The MF cloths and pads are also of high quality. Everything is made in USA.
If you apply these on your bike once every 2-3 months or so (depends on your area conditions), it is sufficient to last a year or maybe more.

Also, particular products are meant to be used on different parts of the bike body. Like dash, rear bumper, fairing+tank, battery+filter cover+'premium sports' cover.

You can email Sanjay from bringingbest and he will very well help you in choosing as well as assisting you on how to use stuff. Ask for free shipping discount as well.
Or contact me or any help.

Do you wish to remove minor scratches kind of stuff from your bike as well? (sorry I cannot recall your earlier posts at the moment)

One of the screws at the end of my bike silencer is missing since a couple of days and it has become an eyesore now.
Does the HMC workshop stock them? Cost?

Also I was thinking about getting the golden 3-D metal Karizma on the tank side..i think it used to be there on the older zma, ive seen some bikes..has anybody done that? workshop stocks that? cost?

Yeah, I did have two doubts:

1. Can we use the 845 on the plastic parts of the bike, i.e the fairing.
2. Does the 845 affect any of the stickers?

Bought a new bike, no scratches as of now.
I am also interested in the 3d Karizma kit, anyone?

Greetings everyone, from one of the newest member of the community! This is Sounak from Pune.

After riding the Honda Unicorn for last 8 years, I now feel it's time I upgraded my ride! Time I upgraded to the HMC Karizma ZMR!
I've taken a test ride of the bike and have been doing an exhaustive research on the bike since last couple of weeks, and have got most of my queries already sorted out. It meets all my requirements and I'm very excited about getting it. However, before finalizing my purchase, I wanted to get some advice from all the veteran ZMR owners and experts here:

1. The extreme scarcity of this bike really concerns me! I know this is a superb bike and is of excellent quality, but why is it so rare on the streets if it's so good? Why does only 1 out of 7 Hero Moto Corp dealers in Pune have a ZMR ready for test ride? Why does it still have a 2-4 week of waiting period? Why do the salesmen appear so disinterested in this bike? If the sales is like this, I dread to imagine what would the after sales service be like! Are spare parts readily available? I've read stories of ZMR owners having to wait 2-3 months for certain parts.

Am I making a mistake by spending Rs. 1,15,200 on a 4 year old model that hasn't been a commercial success, and has poor A.S.S.?

2. Given the above, should I consider some other model? If so, please suggest one. My requirements are:
A. Good riding comfort - I have a minor lowerback pain problem, and can't ride in hunched posture for long. So I need a bike with good suspension and good riding posture, that'll go well with my 6.1 ft, 94kg build .
B. Good performance - I've no intention of racing on my new bike (I'm 30, and past that age ), but I want to have adequate juice in my engine to make confident overtakes on highways, and to cruise in high speeds. It should be easy to drive in the city also.
C. Budget : (can be very painfully stretched to) max 1.5 lakh.

3. After the split with Honda, is HMC manufacturing their own engines? What engines do the present generation ZMR have? Honda's? Hero's? Hero + EBR's? The engine simply has "Hero" engraved on them. Should I be concerned if it's manufactured solely by Hero?

4. Should I wait for the 2014 model? Will it be worth my while? What's the expected price? When will it be available? The HMC salesmen apparently have no idea about this (or they don't want to disclose).

5. I know this is extremely controversial, but what would be the best break-in / running-in process for the ZMR? The company recommended process or Motoman's one? Motoman's points sound very logical and irrefutable to me, and I'm more inclined to follow his guidelines, unless anyone of you here recommend otherwise.

6. Is the 5 year warranty any good, or just a marketing gimmick?

7. What's with the vibration issue in the front fairing? I've read mixed reviews about it. Is it really a concern? The fairing felt pretty strong and solid on the bike I did my test drive on.

8. In my test drive, I just simply could not put the bike on neutral with the engine running! The gear would directly go from 1 to 2 and then 2 to 1, totally shipping the neutral position. With the engine off, I finally managed to put it on neutral by pushing the bike back and forth with the gears engaged. The sales guy said it's because it's a new engine and will be automatically sorted out with use. However I think it's total crap, for my unicorn's gear shifts were dead accurate from day one. Also I've read others complaining about this problem. Is it a general problem with ALL Karizmas? Does it really go away with use?

I'd be really helpful if you kindly provide answer to the above questions, along with any additional advice you may have for prospective ZMR owners!!

Thanks,
Sounak
