The reason for me asking so is cause, both me and a friend owning 2011 ZMA have met with the common issue, as soon as the speedo needle passes the 125Kmph mark, just below the 130Kmph mark the bike stalls.

I covered around 40kms straight above 120kmph, which took me around 20mins, and then rode it with out any stopping for 156kms on odo above 85kmph most of the time, then rest for 20mins and rode it for another 100kms.. Found no issue at all, bike felt smoother after the ripping and smoothness stayed till the end..

I think the electronic limiter caused your bike to stall.. by the time you reach 130kmph the engine must have redlined.. And I dont think that we can compare the ZMR redlining to the ZMA, coz ZMR engine is a little different in power delivery with the Fi and extra 0.5bhp(as I can remember), so mapping may be a bit different so the electronic limiter may have acted differently too..

I tried to redline my ZMR today just to see the top speed. Could redline it in first four gears but couldn't on the 5th... Because of the tall 5th gear of ZMR. Could touch 124kmph around 7.5k rpm, in the GPS it shows as 131.1kmph, as I proved it earlier in the thread ZMR speedo is "overaccurate" shows around 3.5% less than the actual speed...

Wish this bike had a "not so tall" 5th gear with a 6th gear, then this top speed definitely would be higher..
Yeah learned to live by using gloves... using gloves vibes doesnt creep inside..

No bike can redline at top gear... because in top gear all gears are released and it will reach only specified rpm based on hp curve...engine never stresses at top gear due to release of all gears and after certain top speed engine begins stalls or gives some hiccups...

yeah 6th gear might gives some extendability to top speed and smoothness as engine can stress further..

Yes, there is absolutely no reason to ever red-line the engine in search of power. The bike is making peak power in cirtain RPM, then begins to decline, then redlines, and the rev limiter cuts off the engine coz it might damage the engine. If anyone is red-lining, he is only making noise.

I did rev the bike close to red-line just to attain top speed. Only once..

            • Looks good! I suggest getting it clear coated to make it permanent.

clear coat is a spary which protects the painted surface from loosing its charm and shine over time ,protects from scratches and provides the shine to the newly pained surface. Now days, every new vehicle has clear coat on it as factory standard.

                    here is:
USC Spray Max 2k High Gloss Clearcoat Aerosol | eBay

Ok so it is a spray , but looks very costly , instead of it better change the radium when they came off .

                      • Replacement time.

Guys, my ZMR crossed 10K on the ODO yesterday. So a few things popped up in my mind.

                        1. When to change the tires? Although the tire looks ok to me for another 10K kms, but when did you guys change the rear tire?

                        2. When to replace the spark plug? Is 10K too early?

                        3. Clutch plates should go till atleast 25K kms, am I right?

                        4. When to replace the brake pads? They seem to be doing fine as of now.

P.S:- These are just doubts. My bike is in a perfect condition and has no problems in the above mentioned (or any other) components. (touch wood)

                        Suggestions plz.

++ If tyres are in good condition then no need to change....i think here most of the ZMR owners have run more then 15,000 Km and running on stock tyres...may be....

++ Spark plug can be replaced every 10,000KM as per the service manual...

++ It all depends of riding behavior of user...

++ Mine replaced in 17,000 KM...keep checking the brake pads on regular interval otherwise it will start touching the disc plate..and harm...

                              • Guys i am facing weird handling issues
the bike has clocked 6000 Km on odo and for few days the tyres are slipping a lot . 2 days ago while taking a normal turn my bike slipped i somehow saved it from falling but from that day onward the handlebar has became loose !!
the bike looks normal,no damage but the handle starts shaking above 90km/hr .
what could be the problem here ??
                                I don't brake rules , I merely test their elasticity ;)
