The answer to you're query lies in its sprocketing, with a 50T rear, it'd be a miracle if our ZMA/ZMR would achieve atleast a 3 digit figure.Originally posted by raghav-zmr View PostMotorcycling Experience:

Yeah, I was aware of the technical difference of the two engines, but how come the CRF230 is so smooth? Well it must be the parts used in manufacturing the CRF engine (in Japan probably), and does our ZMA/ZMR engine manufactured in India, with the materials from India?
I could found some instances where the rocker arms, cam shafts are worn out in new engines, what happened in my ZMR engine too which has only runned for 10k kms.. Dissapointed!

Yes Unfortunately HH tried to develop certain local parts for ZMA/ZMR, and it was in the upper cylinder assembly..like you pointed out cam, rocker etc..In the late 2010 and 2011 manufactured bikes ,there are problems reported with these components..the engine is still imported along with the carburetor and starter motor..The Alloy Wheel is also from a reputed manufacturer. The Timing Chain and the tension adjusters have also been changed to Indian make.Originally posted by Dan_GP View PostYeah, I was aware of the technical difference of the two engines, but how come the CRF230 is so smooth? Very true ! My ZMR is making lots of Timing chain noise !Originally posted by psr View PostYes Unfortunately HH tried to develop certain local parts for ZMA/ZMR, and it was in the upper cylinder assembly..like you pointed out cam, rocker etc..In the late 2010 and 2011 manufactured bikes ,there are problems reported with these components..the engine is still imported along with the carburetor and starter motor..The Alloy Wheel is also from a reputed manufacturer. The Timing Chain and the tension adjusters have also been changed to Indian make.

Yes those mentioned parts are exactly the culprits for the noise and heat problems. I wish that hero ppl import the whole engineOriginally posted by psr View PostYes Unfortunately HH tried to develop certain local parts for ZMA/ZMR, and it was in the upper cylinder assembly..like you pointed out cam, rocker etc..In the late 2010 and 2011 manufactured bikes ,there are problems reported with these components..the engine is still imported along with the carburetor and starter motor..The Alloy Wheel is also from a reputed manufacturer. The Timing Chain and the tension adjusters have also been changed to Indian make.
Thanks PSR ji, you cleared my doubts..

When the engine is hot I could hear a lot of noises coming from the engine obviously, and they are pretty audible and there is one noise that is troubling me a lot lately..
When it is hot, at idle, 1.2k RPM, not so much noise, but just as I touch the accelerator and slightly rev it, say to 1.4k RPM, I can hear a tak tak tak noise is starting to come out from the engine, it gets much louder, and the noise increases with the RPM and at some point the noise cannot be heard due to fairing noise..
So what could be causing this noise, but as per my experience it is definitely not the tappet noise coz it is different.. More like a Tak Tak Tak noise..
And the left side of the crank case does heat up much faster and the heat is much higher than the right side cranck case(side where the break pedal is)..Last edited by Dan_GP; 12-16-2011, 10:07 AM.

Then it means that earlier ZMA/ZMR prior to 2010 are completely imported engine and components...

Yes...I have a 2007 ZMA-R which has clocked 24 K(bought pre owned at 21 K) now and all components except the brake pads, battery, and Air filter are stock, and unchanged.Originally posted by veryhiphop View PostThen it means that earlier ZMA/ZMR prior to 2010 are completely imported engine and components...When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

I have been hearing the same noise as well.... it's been a while since i have been hearing the same noise however the SVC guys said "sir itni aawaz to rahegi bike ki"... i mean what???Originally posted by Dan_GP View PostWhen the engine is hot I could hear a lot of noises coming from the engine obviously, and they are pretty audible and there is one noise that is troubling me a lot lately..

This one service center in Gurgaon, the master mechanic said the noise is completely normal... though it was clearly audible that the noise was from Tappets and when serviced at a Delhi service center, the noise vanished... though the tak tak tak noise comes back in 2 or 3 weeks after service.
My ZMR has done 11,500 KM and this noise issue is there since 7k or 8k....

Sir, I believe not only upper cylinder, but even the crank shaft is made in India.Originally posted by psr View PostYes...I have a 2007 ZMA-R which has clocked 24 K(bought pre owned at 21 K) now and all components except the brake pads, battery, and Air filter are stock, and unchanged.
Cause while searching for the 'T' mark through the timing hole cap, we saw, "Denzo India LTD."Motorcycling Experience:

, More dissapointment, looking at the behaviour of these new ZMRs I think we cannot respect them as "Bullet-proof reliable engines" anymore like they were very well known for.
C'mon Hero ppl!
Yeah, exactly, service ppl refuse that there is a noise and refuse to even checkOriginally posted by hondarider View PostI have been hearing the same noise as well.... it's been a while since i have been hearing the same noise however the SVC guys said "sir itni aawaz to rahegi bike ki"... i mean what???

. I think that they know there is a problem but they refuse it coz if they had to change some parts under warranty, so it is a good initiative to reduce the cost, by may be, Hero ppl..
Anyways, does anyone know what sound that is. My bike also have runned only for 10k kms, and it is very irritating to ride the bike with that noise comming through the gap within the handle and the fuel tank. And does anyone know why the left hand crank case(one on the same side as the gear lever) heating up more than that is on the left??Last edited by Dan_GP; 12-17-2011, 10:13 AM.
