  • Hi Guys,
i am myself planning to buy ZMR but have heard at places and several forums that it really sucks when it comes to average/mileage. So i wish to know what i the practical mileage when that ZMR gives
    1. In City
    2. On Highways
    3. Collaborating the both a final mixed approx mileage which you guys have seen for yourself.

As this is a dedicated ZMR thread, ihope my queries will finally be put to rest with the amount of awesome experiences you all people have.

Looking forward to hear all your views

    Thanks in advance fellas!

I got my bike checked from a different SVC in Delhi.. they said they will give me the claim for the damaged part... And they checked the entire front body (opening and packing cost 200rs) and suggested to go for claim as the locks for the headlight and right fairing have broken....

So I'll get the claim work done and will get the entire front end changed... means left side too!! will pay for that as it'll be a complete new front end and no issues of yellowish parts...

Meanwhile the Gurgaon SVC guys have not called me back and I haven't received any update from them regarding the matter even till now... So I definitely will not go for Gurgaon SVC now...

Also, I was looking for Shell Advance 10W40, but couldn't find it (couldn't check multiple dealers due to lack of time).. so used Petronas 10W40 engine oil... is it fine???
    Why not use CASTROL? huh!

Castrol oils have been largely duplicated, and in to-day's condition you are more likely to buy a duplicate than a original one...so members generally keep off Castrol....

          Shell then?

Well,Xbhp has been a forum where I have learned to learn & not Envy, and I have learnt that well. After endless jumbling through post, threads, experiences, first-impression report, I own the mighty steed, the Karizma ZMR. This all thanks to JESUS & parents

Truth be told, I got bored of my Pulsar 220. The usual niggles, drop in performance, & the missing of the thrill leaded me to take the decision of buying a new bike. I was a wee-bit confused about which steed can satisfy my hunger. So I ventured out on a bike hunting spree. Nothing but performance would be considered, so I selected the KTM Duke 200, ZMR, & Pulsar 200NS. I was weary of the Pulsar because of the reliability issue (A pulsar owner, so do not pelt me with stones), KTM is an awesome machine, but my dad is an occasional rider, could not just think about myself , & finally the ZMR *sigh* *drool*

Boy-Oh-Boy, the ZMR made me fall in Love with her, the white screamed Purity, but at the same time grinned passion. So I was set, no worries about the downgrade of 4 bhp & upgrade of 9 kgs. I wanted a machine that was comfortable, reliable, worry-free and made me feel relaxed.

After being in the market for close to 3 years, the ZMR does not fail to be the eye-catcher, well it surely catches mine. The bike is a beauty, the paint-job, accessories, fit-and-finish, the crispness of the power delivery. I can rattle all night long. Nothing can Hero Motocorp do, to better it and create another league of par excellence.

The entire blue console looks gorgeous, the construction of parts are excellent. Seats are comfy, throttle is smooth, road-presence is mind-blowing, engine smoothness cannot be described in words and braking is crisp at the moment.

The Karizma ZMR is surely one-of-the-best motorcycles money can buy. If you are considering it, go for it. Performance wise, it is nothing compared to the Duke or P220, but this is a machine that promises to put a smile on your face, every time the starter button is pushed.

I would once again thank JESUS & my parents. Xbhp a big thanks to you for making me realize the passion if have for bikes.

Finally I meet someone who has had experience with 2 high end bikes and that too from the companies having neck to neck competetion.

How was your overall experience with P220 and when the comparison to ZMR comes who has the edge. And yes I ain't simply referring to power; What I wish to know is that Overall (Handling, Comfort, Engine Behaviour, Durability, Maintenance, After Sales Service, Performance, Mileage and a few more parameteres you can add up) if we are comparing which one is a nice deal to struck!

Since coming across people either owing P220 OR a ZMR never both (as far a I have seen) its always tuff to get a decent and honest comparison leaving the buyer in total dismay. Hoping that everything will finally surface up crystal clear.
          Eagerly Awaiting!

          Hi Guys,

For a place like Mumbai or maybe Delhi which ain't thay cold like hill stations, is 10W oil or 20W oil is recommended? To me 20W shall be better as it's viscosity will be higher at the surrounding temperatures and thereby not hampering the Engine and it's performance.

Also someone on this forum praising Shell AX-7 oil which seems very good to me but then again the lower viscosity level is 10W for the same!

          Any view/comments/suggestions? Everything's most welcome

          • Dont post multiple posts, just make all your queries into one post only.. Its looking like spam with so many posts from you only.

And dont start any comparos here also, If you own a ZMR try to ask questions about its problems and solutions only, this thread is meant for that... And if you dont own it and looking to buy it go for the What Bike Thread!

PS: I did not read your posts they are very confusing with so many posts!!

              Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience. Actually I had doubts / queries and no one was answering the previous ones. So I can't wait for someone to answer my queries first and then my questions again, right?

Suggest a wayout then? Also having Multiquotes will mean that I have to wait for all the doubts to come together and then put there? Seems impractical.... Eagerly waiting for your suggestions

              Hi Rakesh,
No offence but regarding the ZMR where only its owners post, what a better place can be than enquiring regarding performance and other stuff as asked.
I shall request you Rakesh to go through the combined post once and answering as many queries you can. It shall be greatly appreciated.

Regards & No hard feelings whatsoever! xBHPians Rock!

Meticulous maintenance records....why did the Disc Brake Pads wear so much ? 4 times change in 25 K Kms seem a bit on the higher side...guess Kolkatta traffic is taking a toll on your pads.while the cost of ownership on paper seem a bit high think of the time you saved in your travel and the multitasking made possible with more available time...and the bike is still with you taking you in comfort and in TIME to places...PRICELESS.

i am myself planning to buy ZMR but have heard at places and several forums that it really sucks when it comes to average/mileage. So i wish to know what i the practical mileage when that ZMR gives

                        Why not use CASTROL? huh!

Also someone on this forum praising Shell AX-7 oil which seems very good to me but then again the lower viscosity level is 10W for the same!
                        [/B]
on an average ZMR will return you mileage hovering around 40kmpl figure..

& regarding Engine oil..I am using Shell Advance AX7 from past couple of weeks only though but it made gear shifting butter smooth which wasn't like in case with Castrol Active/power1..only thing is that engine is heating quite a bit but as its peaking time of summer so i can't say that its just because of an oil or the rising temperature in city..but overall I am very happy with its performance & will recommend it over Castrol..

                          Ambar & Raghavan Sir,

Very true that some have been changed quite early.
For Disc Pads I have checked that it lasts 5000-6000 kms on average.
Since the front is heavy and in City traffic movement requires more application.
Besides mostly since my Wife is pillion the Bike needs more stopping prowess thru Front Brakes.
Yes of late have changed my Riding pattern and getting more of the Brake Pads.
Forgot to mention the Rear have been changed only ONCE.

Similar with the Air Filter also. Stays around 6000-7000 kms.
Mileage drops with the clogged Air Filter. Does not help much with cleaning.

Probably it is high time people need a VIDEO Shoot of my Office Travel.
This is the reason I am postponing my DRIVING LESSON to indefinite schedule.

OT: Common friend and a noted seasoned Biker once came from my Locality towards the Office Area with his Bike, that also in off peak hours.
His reaction was either I should change my Residence or Office.
He said now onwards he is having more respect for my Riding Skills.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

Disk pads burning out depends on usage. My ZMR had some 9500 kms on it when i sold off but never changed disc pads and they were good when i gave it off. My karizma had 25000 kms on it and never ever changed the front disc pads and they were in nice shape.

Though i have seen that zmr disc pads seems to wear off faster compared to karizma and the front heavy, forward biased weight distribution as rightly pointed by satyajit could be a probable reason or just quality related issues

the light foot approach on the rear disc pads to prevent locking and ability to front brake more effectively ( but properly and not falling or locking) can at least save the rear ones slightly more.
