New ZMR owner..
Hi all XBHPIANS
If everything going fine, then I will be a ZMR owner next week,
I knew that that you guys discussed many times about initial buy in issues,
but i want to clarify myself once again with some queries,
and I think it is the basic queries of all new owners..
1. What is the restrictions in running period,
2. what things do I have to check before buying it,(like engine fairing, handling etc)
3. If I have to modify something instantly after buying..
4. If the vibration, heating and gear shifting is initial problems,if it, then then when it resolves
5. what kind of gear and helmets you recommends.
6. As the monsoon knocking at the door, what precautionary measures I have to take.
Please help me out...
Thanks And Regards..

Hi. do we need to do any modification to get 120 in? what about its weight? is it heavy? what are the impact of 120/80 on mileage, performance, and topend?Replace the words "I have to" with "I choose to" and notice the difference in how you feel.

Suggstions for front and rear tyres for ZMR
Hi ... My ZMR has done 20k with stock MRF tyres and it's time to change the rear tyre ... hence thinking to change both the tyres
I have shortlisted following tyres after reading the suggestions in the thread
Front:
Pirelli MT 75 ---- 80/100 - 18 M/C 47P TL
Pirelli City Demon ---- 80/100 - 18 M/C 47P
Rear:
Pirelli SD ---- 110/90 - 18 M/C 61H TL ---- not direct fit
In 20k run, almost 5k-6k run is done in city and rest on on-road/off-road touring.
I am looking for excellent wet/dry grip and trade-off between on-road/off-road performance ... also will be buying from Bangalore.
Can Pirelli SD 110/90 be fitted on ZMR without any modification (even without cutting chain cover)??
Please share your views and suggestions
... TIA and Regards.

Documents expected from Dealer
1) First and foremost you will receive the bill (invoice of the vehicle with all details mentioned on it.
2) You will get the owner's manual (This is very important, it will mention all the thing you need to do while taking a delivery like check oil levels, check scratches, electrical, shock absorbers, etc.). Read this manual for things to check before taking delivery and then only take the delivery). Also make sure that all the details of free servicing etc are filled in this book.
3) Battery Warranty card, this will be given to you during delivery, keep it safely.
4) HH people have started giving a Good Life membership card, you need to fill a small form a give it to them, a copy of that will be with you. It has some nice advantages, ask them for details.
Documents expected from RTO
1) You will get an Import bill, Certificate of taxation and Registration receipt.
2) Your RC card (Smart Card) will take 45 days to come; you can ride the bike with that for a max period of 90 days.
Documents expected from Insurance
You will get a Photocopy of the Original Insurance, but insist on the Original Copy.
User Manual or Service Manual of ZMR along with the bike
Called owner's manual as mentioned earlier.
Type of Fuel to be used for ZMR (Regular / Premium)
Use the best petrol available in your city. Preferably REGULAR fuel should be filled up..
Speed Restriction for ZMR
1)
2) Avoid riding on low gears or in traffic for long period of time.
3) For the initial 1000 kms speed should be maintained @ 60 kmph as mentioned in the manual. People have different opinions but stick to the manual and it will increase the life of the engine.
4) Max 4K RPM for First 1000 kms & Max 4.5K RPM for next 1000 kms, can stretch to max RPM in top gear. This sounds good but stick to it because once you are on the bike it is difficult to control.
Maximum RPM & Speed Limit for individual gears (For regular use after restrictions)
For everyday riding, 4K RPM to 5K RPM is a very comfortable zone, for touring it can be stretched to 5K RPM to 6K RPM.
Washing & Cleaning for Bike
DON'T LET THE WASHING GUY TOUCH THE BIKE. They use dirty cloths, dirty water, etc.
Use a bike cover to save it from everyday dust and a soft clean cloth to wipe off the mud. For some stains (or bird poop) use a moist cloth to remove that.
Wash it every 15 days-1 month, but remember DON'T LEAVE THE BIKE WET, dry it off, mud and wetness may lead to rusting.
Polishing it Fort-nightly (Wax polish), is always recommended and this surely makes the bike shine.
Checklist for Servicing
A details check list in mentioned in the owner's manual, be present in the workshop when servicing is done because they skip a lot of things, make sure they do each and everything that is mentioned in the manual.
Do's
- Take Delivery as soon as the bike reaches the showroom.
- Check for Scratches & cracks during delivery.
- Check functioning of all the electrical units like Horn, Lights, Digital display during delivery.
- Check for abnormal sound or smell during delivery.
- Take a small test drive before completing the delivery procedure and check all functions like gear shifts, electrical units.
Dont's
- Never buy a bike, if salesmen put pressure on specific colour / bike.
- Avoid handing by inexperienced / unfamiliar person.
Servicing Guidelines
Try to be present or insist your presence while changing the Oil during servicing
Not just during oil change, be there for everything.34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

yesterday when i was going for our regular xbhp meet,i was riding my ZMR & its speedometer went blank suddenly..i was doing speeds around 80-100kmph..then i accelerated even more & looked at speedo, nothing was there
I did mistake by stopping my bike as then sooner i realized that there wasn't any other normal way to start my bike as its starter wasn't working
tried starting it by push start method but that didn't work for longer than few seconds don't know why
no shops were open that early so i had a tough time finding a mechanic..he changed the fuse & bike started but then in few seconds it went blank again..then i took it to mechanic's shop again & this time he did some "jugaad" with fuse but even then it lasted for few seconds only..i had to wait there for couple of hours so that shops will open & i can buy another fuse
problem wasn't there in fuse box below seat..main problem was in the switch which is placed just next to battery,it was the main culprit which was untouched till then..finally my bike started & i reached our meeting place but this was the first time in 2yrs of ownership my bike disappointed me

if the fuse is getting blown again and again then there must be some problem with any electrical component. i have faced the same issue when my horn gone kaput, similarly in your case the starting relay seems to get faulty, nothing to be disappointed.Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Postyesterday when i was going for our regular xbhp meet,i was riding my ZMR it speedometer went blank suddenly..i was doing speeds around 80-100kmph..then i accelerated even more & looked at speedo, nothing was there

actually what i got to understand by that is the main culprit was the fuse near battery..because after changing it my bike got started in first attempt..earlier other mechanic was changing the fuse below seat cover which wasn't the real cause..Originally posted by Mzee_Maverik View Postif the fuse is getting blown again and again then there must be some problem with any electrical component. i have faced the same issue when my horn gone kaput, similarly in your case the starting relay seems to get faulty, nothing to be disappointed.

ZMR Body change
Guys,
I have finally submitted the bike at SVC for the entire Body part change... The guy at the SVC said he will get the claim work done for the bike and will try to get as many parts to be claimed under insurance...
So he has given me a week's time for the bike to be ready... I am getting all the plastic parts to be changed... fairing, under seat cover, back side plastic.. even the headlight unit....
everything will be changed...
I am just waiting for the bike to be all new now... after the accident i had in January, the entire locks in the fairing were broken... so had to get em replaced only..
Will update you all once i have my Devil back...!!!!PEACE!!!!\/
RESPECT!!!!

P220 chainset costs around 1300 bucks, if you are going with it plz add some reviews. IMO get stock sprockets set and P220 o-ring chain if possible to installLast edited by Mzee_Maverik; 06-05-2012, 12:00 AM.speed thrills but kills if you dont have skills
