Don't think this will be a correct information. the rider must be faking.....if there is anything from HM...do write to them about your specification. They will answer it or try to get with the Dealer...Originally posted by satyajitrc View Post
Thats nice....looks good...give more style to ZMR...also, in case anyone has scratches on silencer heat guard then is better option ....Originally posted by satyajitrc View Post

Chain maintenance
I removed the chain cover by myself this weekend. Looks better without that thing. and i removed the saree guard months ago
.
From the past posts i understand it wud require regular cleaning at around every 1000km (or a month)
Please suggest How to clean and How to lube?? and exactly what do i need to do that?
somewhere i read that for cleaning kerosene is the thing.. but does it really requires cleaning or just lubing is fine??

Sanjeev'Jee , with the condition of our city roads and the monsoon's ETA in kolkata in another 10 days or so(fingers crossed), you are looking at a daily clean-and-lube regime without that chain-cover .
Remove just the bottom part of the cover with the bike on main-stand, clean with toothbrush wet in kerosene and wipe off with rags, repeatedly until it looks clean enough . Allow few hours to dry, then apply SAE90 or 140 grade gear-oil with same toothbrush. Allow some time for the oil to penetrate. Apply some clean lithium grease over this with finger and close the cover. Let it sit overnight. After this, just lubing with a drop of oil on every link every other weekend or so is good until the chain is too dirty/dry/noisy again, then you need to clean it again. This is for the non o-ring chain .
Occasional cleaning is good because the dust, sand etc particles trapped there causes faster chain & sprockets wear . Do not forget to check and adjust chain slack as per owner's manual .Last edited by Pinaki; 06-06-2012, 01:07 AM.

Even i am maintaining all the records since ever i got my bikeOriginally posted by dhiraj View PostYou got a detailed and indepth answers to your worries from one of the most experienced guy who is using ZMR... he has recorded all the things regarding his zmr which i think no one has done...(in world).
. Satyajit da shared his sheet with me before i got my bike and then i made one of my own(made a little changes). Its really very nice to have everything tracked down.
I would suggest everyone to make an excel sheet for their ride's record. It gives a very clear picture of fuel consumption, expenses, service history and purchases made. you can add lots more.
here have a look at my sheet.

@ Everyone who hates the chain guard,
Replace the stock 5kg weighing one with the Enticers chain guard only 44rs. And best part is that you dont have to go through the effort of constantly cleaning it, just lube it once in a few months using any well known chain lube(I use the chain spray from TVS). Mines been using the above mentioned setup for more than 5k kms and still running fine. I lube it like once in 2k kms or so, cause thats when the noise starts to come.Motorcycling Experience:

TVS chain lube is good but SAE-90 is cheaper and better. you will get no benefit of tvs chain lube over SAE-90 other than transportation. the price is 95 rs for 100ml and 295 for 500ml.Originally posted by veryhiphop View Post
