  • New Bike

Guys, i already booked my new zmr and will get it tomorrow!!! i am all excited. i was owner of pulsar in the past and i will never ever buy that brand again.

    A few questions:

    1) for how long should i ride my bike slow and at what speed.
    2) I like touring, although i have very less experience in touring (the longest ride i did was a 1050KM in 22 hrs once); can i say that i made a right choice purcasing this bike.

You guys are very experienced and would like to hear you out.

      16'' 120/80 V 16 M/C (60 V) SPORTD F

      17'' 100/80-17 M/CTL 52H SPORTD F

      120/70-17 M/C TL 58V SPORTD F

      REAR

      17'' 130/70-17 M/C TL 62 H SPORTD
      130/80-17 M/C TL 65H (M) SPORTD
      140/70-17 M/C TL 66 SPORTD
      150/70-17 M/C TL 69V SPORTD

      18'' 110/90-18 M/C TL61 H SPORTD [ Currently I have this profile for my ZMR]
      110/80-18 M/C TL 58H SPORTD
      120/80-18 M/C TL 62H SPORTD
      130/70-18 M/C TL 63H SPORTD

this PSD front wheel 100/90-18 M/C TL 56H SPORTD F matches the requirements of our rear one but is it advisable to install this at rear, coz the 'stud pattern' is especially made for the front one wic ll be exactly opposite to tat of rear !!

For RunIn period you have to ride under 65kmph for 1000kms(1200-1300 would be better)and under 75kmph till 1500kms.Use only hero recommended engine oil(mineral oil) till first 3 services then you can switch to semi synthetic or synthetic oil.

Yes you have made a best choice of booking ZMR which has both the characteristics of a tourer and a sports bike,I did 800 in 13 hrs recently and a pleasure tour of 2283 kms in total over 4 days . The bike performed very well with rider, a pillion and luggage in both the tours.Surely the bike is head turner in the city and 'wow catcher' in villages and less developed parts of our country

Guys my problem has only compounded I guess.
Need to check my Electrical Wiring thoroughly this weekend.
The 7.5 Amp Fuse on the extreme Left has blown up already FOUR times.
Even the initial Problem was from Magnetic Assembly Relay just beside the Battery.
Has been changed for Rs 220.00 also.
Carrying half a Dozen of Fuses for Ration till Friday evening.

Yes, It is discontinued for India although it was a fantastic product.

          Sachin,

Yes I am the one using Michelin M62 in Front and Michelin M45 in Rear.
But both are running on Tubes.
Have done more than 15000 Kms on these and the Front has never been punctured yet.
          Reasonable good till now.
But after 10000 Kms or so at times the front loses Grip!!!
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

It is available in Pirelli SD's portfolio so it should be available here. You might want to try checking in different shops just in case if it is rare to find.

Question is why do you want 120/80? For ZMR - 110/90 is perfect

I am not sure if the company makes the tire in a separate way for the front than for rear however best for ZMR rear would be 110/90.
I have used Pirelli Sports Demon 110/90 18" for rear for close to 19,000 kms and I think it will go for another 5-6K before I get the new one.

Aaah, I liked the thread pattern on M62 but I am looking for Tubeless so as of now, I guess the best one to buy is M35 since M45 has been discontinued.

Not even a single puncture for 15000kms Are you riding overseas or in India

Will 120 hamper the performance of the bike ?? did you notice any performance lag after installing 110 ??

I live in Bhopal and here the shopkeepers don't even know about pirelli . I had contacted few tyre shop walla via mail(outside my state) and they said it is very hard to find SD for 18 rims because is not in demand . Is it easily available in Mumbai ??

                Sachin,
Man I said for Front only while Rear had FOUR punctures during this tenure.
Regarding Michelin M-62 this can be fitted for both Front & Rear but the Tread will be reversed.
Some Bikes use this as Rear Tire also.
May be it should be similar with Pirelli SD.
Some shots of this lovely Michelin M-62.

Now as usual my eternal Query to you all regarding Tires.
                1. What are the Front & Rear Tube Less Options since only Michelin Sirac Streets are available now?
                (Assuming CHAIN Cover is retained)

                Sachin,
As heard from people that PSD are soft rubber they are puncture prone!!!
How true is it since you have used pretty long.

                    Roflmao

Yes, Pirelli SD is very common tire here. It is used in various performance bikes and it is prime choice for buyers who use R15, P220, N250R and CBR250R.

There is no speed lag infact it gives you confidence to ride fast and it is also superb for cornering. I have managed to reach 135 kmph max till date on ZMR with Pirelli SD. Only concern which I thought would be while buying was how long would it last? It has already completed already 19,000 kms with around 5 punctures and I think it's good to go for another 5-6K kms.

This tire is worth every penny but you'll only realise it once you move from stock on this one!

Lemme check and get back to you if I have any pic saved of 110 profile PSD on ZMR.

I have had till 5 punctures in 19,000 kms of riding on PSD. Of course needless to say the dreadful roads we get to ride our bikes on.

Tubeless options I can think as I have never done research on this -
Front options - MRF Zapper; Michelin M35; Duro
Rear options - Ceat Vertigo; MRF Zapper; Pirelli SD

More inputs needed here to make the right choice however I have already zeroed to M35 Front & PSD Rear for my next change whenever that happens.

Reason to go for M35 would be - Fellow Xbhpian who came to Ladakh with me used this tire and he was completely satisfied.

Here are a few pics I could dig in for you of 110 90 18" PSD
You dont need 120 as 110 looks wide enough to suppliment our bike's looks

From images ....110 looking wide enough...and gel with the ZMR rear...i really like the pattern of PSD...

i too had a plan to change rear tyre...but PSD is costly...that's why thinking for other alternative like Zapper Q
