If the one you got with your ZMR is Exide MF ETZ7 then it should be a 6 amp battery , atleast as i know ETZ7 is a 6amp battery , & the 6 amp battery has its terminal positions altered from rest of batteries of bike's .

Or may be as your bike is completing 2 year in jan 2010 so i think it should be from first bikes which has the old karizma cage with 7 amp battery . ( My guess )

& what you done to the old battery ? exchanged it or is it with you ?

The cable connecting battery positive to starter relay can actually be made by buying the battery clips from any good 2 wheeler spare parts vendor, and soldering a thick wire(7/20 or 7/16) of appropriate length to it,again available from the spare or electrical shops ,seller.
Thanks psr...since i could not found any person to do all this wiring work...so drop the amaron...

Correct Stock one is MF ETZ7....but SVC person told me its 7 amp...don't know if its 6 amp or 7 amp...confusion...confusion...confusion...

Now the battery i have buy is Exide XPACK VRLA; Model : XPTZ7...dealer says its a 7 amp battery and only 3 , 4 , 5 and 7 amp battery comes from Exide not more then that in Wet Sealed Zero Maintenance category....

Exchanged old battery for Rs. 150....

Also; guys if you are buying battery from SVC make sure to take a warranty card...if they are not giving then don't buy because they usually get a battery from company as a replacement of non-working batteries...

also cost is very high in SVC approx 1900 and they will not less the amount of old battery...

ETZ-7 is 6 Amps, and making the cable is not tough in the 9 AH conversion ..I will post pic of it later...

            • Got my ZMR tappets adjusted yesterday. Service engineer found that there is no big difference in valves, both valves are a little loose only 0.15mm feeler goes in. Then he tightened the valves a little and then only 0.1mm feeler did fit in. So I'm also sure that the valve are approximately correct 0.1mm gaps.

But now, the engine noise increased drasticaly, engine heats up like an oven.. It has been emiting heat and sound more than usual anyway, but nw it is worse.. I dont know why this happens, I know the valve gaps are coorect for sure coz I personally checked the gaps using feeler gauge too. Now my bikes engine sounds like a sewing machine and heat is just unbearable.. Very upset..

Please advice me what should I do? Please...

              • Increased tappet sound?

tappets should be set only at compression TDC or the setting will get messed up.How did he adjusted the tappets? I had the same problem when i adjusted ZMA's tappet for first time.

Do not run with that setting,it may damage your engine.

                Have a look HERE

Is it like this, the guy adjusted the tappets? Probably no.

I believe you've adjusted the valves, by setting the TDC at the exhaust stroke, nothing much to worry, the worst case scenereo is that the rocker arms get damaged.
I've made the same mistake, when you get free time, just take apart you'r bike and re-adjust, if the TDC part doesnt work for you, then do it manually, by adjusting till the point where the sound stops.

For a detailed DIY you can either look at PSR Sir's signature link(Setting at TDC) or try mine.

                    • ^^Aneesh@4GHz & ashwinprakas,

Yes, tappets were adjusted when in Compression Stroke TDC, I inspected the timing hole nut, it was aligned with the line beside T and I could felt a little play with the rocker arms so I am sure that it was on Compresssion TDC..

Everything was inspected closely when the engineer adjusting the tappets by me, even the feeler gauge so I am close to 100% sure that he did it correctly, I suspect some other things like the already damaged rocker arms or Cam shafts... Confused...

And you guys may be correct too if there are no other reason other than what stated by you which caused incresed engine noise and heat.. But I was making sure that it was adjusted on Compression TDC, so what could be other reasons, what made this sudden increase of heat and noise, I wonder??

Karizma's valve clearance is'nt supposed to be adjusted by TDC, me and Aneesh know it from experience , cause we've done it, We've adjusted Tappet at both compression as well as exhaust stroke, in exhaust stroke the bike didnt start cause we accidentally overtightened the intake valve and at compression stroke the bike made sewing machine noise, so finally we did it manually.

Didnt you asked the service manager about this excess sound?

Aneesh is right, if by any chance anythings damaged its their responsibility to replace it under warranty.
