For older ZMAs the 9 AH Amaron is straight fit. The height will be just correct, and the depth is more...you have to bend the plate that holds battery in place, and use a longer screw to fix it..

2). Spray WD 40 on the rusty nut and bolts. check out the engine oil, if it is a time to change the engine oil change it, if you are using stock engine oil change it at the interval of 1000-1200 kms.
        Hey Dhiraj,

Thanks for your update.. I'm using stock oil of HH in my bike & i've ridden it for close to 2000 kms now.. Are u sure that the stock oil will last only for 1000-1200 kms
Regarding the gear switch problem.. Is the engine oil or clutch plate that's responsible for it ???

First change the oil, then see whether you have the gear problem or not ... if it still persist then show the bike to SVC

Recently i seen the Hunk having a 7 AH battery and width is high as compared to ZMR 6 AH battery. Are you sure that by bending the holder plate will fit the 7/9 AH battery...

Kindly help me answering my queries...
I am planning to change the chain sprocket after I complete the Bangalore-Bombay trip next month, my bike has done 14450 kms now. My previous unicorn did 45k in 5 years with couple of major falls, still the chain remained fine. The reason I quoted this example cause there is no fix rule to change the chain, depends on how you maintain and ride it. yes offcourse with a chain cover has got a better life (specially in our road conditions)

Gear gettin stuck, Change the oil and take it for a spin, else you may send the bike to an authorized servicing center and as per my experience it wont cost you much.

                  Escape from Natural eroding agents?
                  1. Get a diesel wash done on the metallic parts (atleast once a year)
                  2. Pressure wash and pressure dry, Leave in sunlight for sometime.
                  3. Apply some good wax, I use Formula1 wax . But!! stay away from local duplicate made (150 bucks), go for the original imported one (300-350 bucks) which will last for atleast a year.
                  4. Apply the left over engine oil on the exposed parts after waxing.
                  5. Get a good bike cover (when not in use cover it all the time if possible and its a must in a moist areas)

As per the users from this thread:

Most of them are happy with shell, I am using the Hero recomended oil, I'll move to shell in my next fillin.

In your case Motul FS oil should be anytime better than Castrol..

This pic is of Mr.Sriram's 2011 ZMA-R in which it was fitted after a lot of effort due to the smaller battery cage due to OE 6 AH battery.

Yes you are right, where ever the 6 AH battery was fitted as OE,the battery cage must be changed to the old ZMA/ZMA-R type..There is a bracket welded to the sub frame to support the smaller 6 AH battery which must be removed by cutting with Oxy/Acetylene flame, and painted, and ADD a small 2inch metal strip under the cage to fix the lower bracket..Apart from this the +ve connection from the Self Starter Relay should be extended ,to connect to the battery +ve..
