Hey @abhi7013, are your sprockets still stock?
Here are some pictures. Can someone tell how much life is left?
They look like new !
Front sprockets show that the bike is not subjected to rapid/abrupt acceleration.

Reference to my sprokets condition, I would say atleast another 5k kms. The last time I had checked, mine were in worser (reference to the ones in pic) conditions and I still squeezed about 4.5k kms without any repeated slack issues.
But then again based on his riding style it could fluctuate... just my opinion

Question to all first gen zmr users:

Does your bike crank when on gear without holding the clutch or is it just mine and Divya Sharan's

Guys, carrying forward an interesting discussion on ZMR which originated on the CBR discussion thread -
How many ZMR owners here can actually crank the bike when the bike is in gear, without pressing the clutch? When I say 'crank the bike', it is very obvious that the bike can't be started - it will immediately lunge and stall. But the questions that persist are:

- Does it happen on all 1st-gen ZMRs?
- Does it happen only on the 1st model ZMRs (The ones with yellow backlit consoles).
- Is this phenomenon a design fault or it happens over time from mechanical failure of the switch?
- Has anyone with a new ZMR (blue backlit HH/HMC) experienced the same?

I for one, wouldn't believe that this phenomenon exists on new ZMRs since I have considerable experience with one. But there a considerable number of ZMR owners who have experienced otherwise. Do let your inputs flow...

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Starter switch doesn't get activated at all if bike is in gear until you pull the clutch lever....in all the ZMRs I have seen and ridden starting from 2009 models including mine

If somebody's bike here is starting without pulling the clutch lever, I want to know how the bike behaves after cranking..do you just accelerate and zoom off???

If you can see two wires near the end of the clutch lever then it is obvious that there is a clutch switch which is not working properly.
Till date, I have never seen any bike(with self-starter) not having a clutch switch.

Just spoke to svc about the same, yes I had noticed the two wires but since I had this problem I assumed it was not a clutch switch but maybe something else never gave it much thought as I never found it to be a problem, had spoken to fellow zmr owner and he said it was the same for him, so I just happily assumed it was the case in all zmr's.

Only today the issue came up again in the form of a discussion and later found out it doesn't happen in newer models, further checks and I find out from svc and other older model users that they don't have the issue either.
The svc guy has promised to have a look this evening, said there are two parts to the switch and both need to be had a look at. He also said it could be an issue due to the clutch free play setting,

Well anyhow one thing confirmed is that the issue is with my bike and that of others who might face the same problem and not an overlook on the part of hero(honda)

Sorry if this topic made many people go in a merry go round chase

The merry go round chase was interesting nevertheless. Glad to see your issue sorted out. Divya Sharan Guess it's the same glitch in your zimmer too, so get your switches replaced soon bro!

Thanks for the insight Snehith, Bizzy bhai and Shoeb bhai. I remember my bike jerking and stalling when I'd be parked at a signal with false neutral (in gear, with neutral light on). Hence, my statements earlier. But after all this hoopla took place, I tested my bike during lunch hours today, the bugger didn't start in gear!

So, all is well with all switches in my bike lol.

Er, don't you think the two statements are contradictory?
