There were a few leak marks on the right side cowl. I don't have a proper phone, so I'm unable to post pictures. Sorry!
Took the bike to the SVC, hopefully it'll be fixed by tomorrow!

I'm sure I belong to that unlucky group!
I am using my side mirrors as a fixed mirror. i don't fold them, if I do, they start behaving as a drunkard.. What you can do is, get a better gripped allen key bolt or a normal bolt (same size as the stock wala), heard it worked with someone here. Not sure whom! I am in the look out for the same setup. Damn, I keep forgetting.
I don't fold them either, and the mirror stalks are not a problem in my case, the problem is at the ball joint where the mirror housing attaches to the stalk .
I've specifically aligned the stalks in a straight line, so as to ensure that the mirror are as far apart as possible to allow maximum field of vision, and minimal blind spots.

BTW, I saw in your profile pic that your RVM does have that "Object in mirror...." text. Does that mean the older generation ZMRs had proper convex mirrors?

now, regarding the vibrations/blur effect. At a particular point with the mirrors unfolded the images will be clear through out except at higher speeds, this is one reason I don't want to fold my side mirrors as I have found a hot spot, well the right one actually found the hot spot and the left one usually is out of position as someone likes to comb their hair with my side mirror so they keep changing the position.. Damn I hate those idiots.. only if I could catch them red handed

The blurring starts at rather low speed only - in fast city driving. My bike is usually parked in secured parking at home and office, so chances are low that some moron is messing with it, but yes I've my share of experience with these idiots!

The recommended drain interval of AX7 is 2500 kms, however my suggestion would be to keep an eye on the color of the engine oil after 1750 kms. once it gets dark, change the oil. I don't think you want to risk screwing the engine just to save Rs.350 or Rs.365 (My Opinion) and the oil behaves different on every bike, the Rimula R4 I used on my bike had to be drained every 1200-1500 kms.. the oil turns completely black and yuck to see
Absolutely! Rs. 350 is nothing for ensuring a good health of the engine!
I'm thinking of draining it now only, before my odo hits 2500 km (i.e. in less than 2000 km from last oil change). It doesn't harm to change early!
But, (forgive my inexperience) how to check whether the oil has turned dark without draining it? If you are implying checking with the dip-stick then I'm not sure I can make out its color in such a small sample. I regularly use the dip-stick to check oil level, and the oil always appears to be in great shape - 100% clean and clear! Is there any other standard way of checking the color without draining? Like sucking with a dropper through the dip-stick hole, may be?

I never changed the O-Ring till I joined XBhp to be hones nor the SVC guys recommended. in-fact, I never even knew it existed as I thought it was a paint (seemed to me that way)
He he

i would recommend you get the O-Ring changed once every 2-3 drains.
Sure, that's the plan, but first I'll have to get my hands on a pack of these illusive O-rings!

Cheers,
Reneav
Thanks a lot rreneav1987 for the detailed response!

Thanks, I guess!
Left one across all ZMRs in India has a mind of its own. I have replaced it once already for just this issue but the new one is no different. He he. 441 rupees wasted!
Sorry to know that. Are there any alternative mirrors that fits and works properly on the ZMR?

2. AX7 - Drain post 2.5k kms of use. So, you should get it replaced during servicing. (500 + 2500 = 3000)
As I mentioned above, I'm thinking of replacing it now only.

3. Just ask for Karizma drain bolt O ring. Usually NOT available at the SVC, road side spares shops stock them!
May be that's why they don't bother changing it when they change oil!
P.S - Unicorn's O ring fits perfectly.
Ohh! If only I knew that earlier, I'd have taken off the O-ring from my Unicorn before selling it off! LOL
On a more serious note, are you really sure about this? As far as I remember, the Unicorn's oil drain nut was at the bottom of the engine, and had a much smaller diameter than that of ZMR's.

I replace them every time I drain the oil now, but till about 15k kms, I never replaced them. Stock one was good enough! I don't advice it, I was ignorant.

Lol. Interstate G2G k liye mujhe bakra bana k halal kar doge? I'm ready for a ride any time. Keep the last 5 days of March marked in your calendar.
What do you have in mind? A G2G will be really great but I'm not sure how much I'll be able to manage
Thanks Divya, buddy for the detailed responses!

Hmm, it's sad to know that even Honda has the same problem! But it sure gives me some solace :P
I'll try the screwing-in action suggested below first, and if that doesn't solve it, then yes, Fevi-Kwik will be the last resort.
Thanks for the suggestion!

Will give this a try in 10 minutes!

Wow, rreneav1987 and AmoghDox, the screwing in action worked like a charm! At least for now, that is. I could feel it tightening, and it retained its position in a quick 5 mins ride.
Thanks to both of you for this simple and effective tip!

it will hold strong for atleast a month.. for me it never got loosened again.. but damn, I had to change the side mirror as some crack pot twisted it to the core and broke the side mirror but after that, the side mirror i have currently doesn't get tightened by rotating in the clock wise direction. BTW, I know it will tighten as I have seen the stem.. it has a bolt and nut kinda lock with a spring kinda material attached, probably to prevent extra vibrations of the mirror..and regarding the blur effect try all the possible spots.. you will find a sweet spot eventually.. I have marked that sweet spot with a scratch on the stem and the part which holds the side mirror to the fairing the right one is old so it still has a very small mark.. but the left one, I am unable to get the sweet spot as some idiot keeps meddling with it

EDIT - OT.. 143 times Mentioned.. yahoooooo Yippeeeeeeeee.. I love 143

Was at the Service center yesterday.. Some how the valve got loose and was making a weird noise while bike was idling with rpm at 1.5 to 1.8k the mech fixed it in 2 hours time and it is now idling at 1.1k rpm

asked them about the arrival of new versions of R and ZMR and they said it will be out on mid March...
found ZMR with a mileage tag of 51 and the people on that show room itself say it would probably give 35 only

This is the reason ZMR sells very low. They dont know what the main difference is between the karizma R and the ZMR.. when the customers ask about mileage and these sales guys say 35kmpl. People will start thinking who will spend extra 25000/- for a bike that will give same mileage as the karizma.. my ZMR in city fetches me 43-45 kmpl and on highways, it was always 50+ kmpl..

Riding at 75-85 kmph has fetched me these figures.. highest being 56 kmpl and divya got 57 kmpl.. tire pressure should be checked, chain properly lubed and tightened. Proper gear shifts and i take time to reach that speed and stick to it as much as possible with less gear shifts, clutch and brake usage.. on highways..

In city, normal riding conditions.. the same we all do.. the least i got til now in city was 38kmpl to be honest, but that was due to heavy traffic and me riding my rashly.. but other than that, i always gor above 42 kmpl.

The least I got was 26 or may be 23kmpl 100km trip done at 100 to 110 all the way with heavy traffic and lots of gear shifting

on highways I usually ride at 85 to 95 so I always end up with something around 42kmpl
