I noticed a strange problem on my bike yesterday.. When I wanted to downshift from the 5th gear riding at 60kmph to 4th gear after applying the brakes, the bike refused to downshift. For a second its as though that gear was missing. When I let go off the accelerator and pull the clutch and try to downshift the bike just doesn't downshift... for that second. It feels the same as when you are engaged on 1st gear and you press the gear lever down. But the bike downshifts after pulling the clutch for the second time and pressing the gear lever..

What seems to be the problem guys?

I am not sure bro. But I strongly feel I attained that speed at the third gear only. Coz, I over revvd at 2nd and 3rd gear and attained 100 just after shifting to 4th. Was in the process of finding out the fastest 100 timing, but in turn gave me a fast 60 timing. 100 was attained in the 4th gear at 13.7 seconds.

Also, I couldnt see the speedo timings (max) during the gear shifts. (you know how hard it is)

Just a query, at what rpm did you manage 100 on 4th gear.

Also I tried downloading the app link provided by you and just couldn't figure out how to record a zero-60 time on it Did u have a pillion who observed the speeds for you or did u mount the phone on the bike for the test?

        Sorry for the multiple questions

It will record the 0-60 using gps speed bro.. that app has an inbuilt gps speed which records the speed, 0-60 acceleration and 0-100 acceleration..

I've noticed only from 5th to 4th till now.. when I brake suddenly and try changing the gear for that particular speed, it doesn't!! This problem wasn't there before I had given the bike for 1st service where I had asked them to adjust the clutch free play..

I am not aware of any such issue. once on my Karizma (2003 model) back in 2008, the 2nd gear was messed up and I could never shift it to second gear.. I had to skip the second gear every time till I got it fixed. I was told this was because the second gear was dead.. but thats not the same in your case.

Ans: Not sure. I was looking at the tarmac while driving

Ans: It has an option, which shows 0-60 or 0-100 timings. The app did all the recording for me. You can select that by tapping the window I guess. (Dont remember. I changed to windowsphone) I was all alone while riding. I did not mount the phone, but was kept in my jacket. I tested it on NH47, thrissur-mannuthy road in kerala (Straight session, during noon time, 4 lane road and less traffic)

How to? Do I have to measure it using something..? I mean the distance between two adjacent links of the drive chain..

For measuring the chain slackness open the cap on the chain cover and move the chain up and down with finger. Do this at 3-4 places of chain by rotating the wheel and checking at another place. The chain should have 15-20 mm play at the tightest point. If it is more tight then loosen the chain. Else go to local mechanic and check.

No side stand its not the reason. It seems this is a manufacturing defect. Even when my bike has the same problem and there is no solution uptil now.
