  • Thanks Friends.
With inputs and reviews from various ZMRians probably this is the best list of Engine Oils, I guess have figured out till now.

    Mobil1 FS Engine Oil 10W40
Motul 7100 FS Engine Oil 10W40
Shell Advance FS Engine Oil 10W40

However definitely this would vary on the riding pattern, terrain, temperature & tarmac too.

For me it is entirely city ride and I generally change Engine Oils @ 2000 Kms.
Only need to check the availability in KOLKATA

Thanks again to Dhiraj, Lokesh, Ambar and et all.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

I am still running by ZMR on mineral oil which has completed close to 36000 odd kms.

My suggestion to owners here would be when your bike is new or when bike's engine, piston and piston block is new it is advisable to use mineral oil as the uneven molecular structure of mineral oil makes the uneven surfaces of the components and auto parts rub with each other and erode, thus making the surface even and smooth . This is very useful, as the young components of the engine get into shape and adapt to the mechanism.

As the engine grows older, the components, get into shape and start running swiftly without any friction. This is where one should start using synthetic oil as it is a perfected product unlike mineral oil which is a by-product of petroleum.

Even after the above comments, I still use Mineral Oil
May be I should switch to Full Synthetic oil too now to check the difference although there is no harm in still using mineral oil.

Sachin, very aptly said & +100

Yes I switched to Semi Synthetic after 10,550 Kms only. (Now 23,000 Kms)
My only rant for Mineral Oil is that it does not last beyond 1500 Kms for me.
This effectively means SVC-ing every month etc.
Logically I would prefer ONCE every TWO Months.

My Daily Home-Office to and fro is 40 Kms besides some weekend errands.
Since I travel in hell city Traffic with lot of Gear Shifts hence looking for some better options also.

Though I have posted and said earlier, I am doing it again.

Only ICICI Lombard & TATA AIG have these feature.
They cover 100% on Plastics too.
          Started around AUG-2010 onwards.
Since I purchased my Bike in MAY-2010 it was not in this scheme and had to shell a lot of Money during my accident in MAR-2011.

But have renewed it in the new scheme.
Policy Name is Nsure Plus from ICICI Lombard.

Well said mate! The attention these white angels get is awesome . Small kids to even oldies..

Just the other day I was waiting at a signal and two old chaps were looking and discussing for long about my white ZMR Another day again at a signal a common guy on his bicycle halted on the other side and had a good glance of the bike moving back and forth till my signal turned green. Girls no exception even if they are school going Married ladies sitting alongside their husbands quickly have a good glance and some carry on gazing not bothering about their husbands keeping a check on them through the mirrors!

Most importantly white one needs utmost care and if you keep her dazzling other bikes needlessly to say stand paani kam..

BTW, was just wondering how would I keep my pearl safe in bad rains. Folks, is there something like a see through plastic coat that can be done and peeled off when not required? Do let me know.
            Ride till the road ends.

              • I had recently tried the Valvoline Mineral 20W40 meeting API SL and SM temperature stability(JASO MA2 certified),and found it to have very good effect in my 25 K + Kms run ZMA-R.The engine is smooth and has better acceleration. The 900 ml pack is 210/- and I feel it is VFM.The prevoius oil brands I had tried are Gulf Pride 4 T 20w40, Motul 3000 w 4 T 20w40 ,Honda 20w40.

No doubt, Synthetic oils are better for bikes once the engine brake in is completed. However, Mineral oil also can be ridden for 3000 kms without any issues, in the manual it is mentioned that oil change can be done after an interval of 6000 kms

Nevertheless, I use mineral oil till date and service the bike once in 3000-3500 kms. Had no issues so far.

                      • valvoline oils are quite a lot better than other brands but due to their lackluster marketing they are not easily available. valvoline partners with cummins and as all knows cummins are world renowned engine makers.
