That is the greatest dilemma that i am facing as heart is not letting me to sell the extreme as i am getting attached to it and mind is set on the ZMR. So you see confusion in both heart and mind, what to do. " Kya kare kya na kare, ye kaisi muskil hai".
Well, when I said near future. I meant in future.. as in another 5-7 years

I just noticed this on Tuesday.. just wanted to check the condition and I noticed this..

usually this will happen when the gasket on the cylinder head worn out.

and this gasket worn out will happen if you use other engine oils except from Hero. for me the gasket damaged much quickly when i shifted to another oil. but now iam using hero oil and the gasket if fine....!

Are you using other engine oils?

I am using Shell AX7.. but I have been using it for more than 10000 kms now.. and prior to this I was using Shell Rimula R4 for about 8000 kms and prior to that i used Motul for 1000 kms and I didn't like it so I discarded it.. till 20000 I was using Hero Engine Oil..

I can just get the Gasket changed, right? and oops, I meant the gasket and not the head seal.. lol.. noob me

how much would that cost me? I am going to shift back to Hero mineral oil but want to try to Gulf pride before that..

could this be the reason the oil level is decreasing little by little?

The exhaust valve door is leaking. Just replace the o-ring and tighten it properly. The O-ring is same as the drain bolt. You can change the valve door (same as drain bolt) too to be perfect.

if gasket is the culprit, then it wont cost more than 100. for hunk they charged 80 inclusive of all labor charge and taxes.

I have done 30K on my hunk.

first 10000km with hero oil and next 5000km with shell AX7. after realizing the mistake i switched back to hero oil...i used to drain hero oil @ every 3000km.

in that 5000km with shell AX7, i have changed gasket 3 times. but with hero oil ....NONE. and most importantly hero oil is most revving friendly.

Cranked my bike for the first time post my accident in July. Had to crank a few times to bring it to life as it hasn't moved an inch after Ravi anna brought it to Bangy. Revved it to 3-4 k and noticed some smoke from exhaust for first 2-3 seconds. Then all was normal. Let it idle for 2 min and slotted into first 2 gears on the main stand. Revved upto 4 k again. All normal.
Finally let it idle for sometime again and switched it off. ODO for quite some time stands at 56666.

If head cover is leaking, oil won't go above the head. The oil spread clearly indicates leaking valve door. For confirmation, clean it completely and regularly observe from where it's leaking.

The head cover doesn't have any gasket. It will be sealed with a sealant.

Today was the first time I drag raced with someone..a classic 500. I hit 5k in the first two gears and 7k in the rest.. In no time I was clocking 110.. The low and mid range are mind blowing I was ahead and The classic was closing fast. There was a huge curve ahead.. was cornering at 90 kmph.. after taking the huge corner I just braked, waved at the guy and made him to stop.. spoke to him for two mins, thanking him for my first drag
never ripped the bike this hard, the bike was smooth as usual.
fell in love with my bike once again

hello how often do you change your engine oil ? i change my engine oil in every 2000kms is it too much should i reduce it to 1500kms since i got to know that some changes the engine oil in every 1500kms.does changing interval really effect my engine wear and condition ? thank you.

If you're using hero's oil, you should change it at an interval of 1000kms. It's good Upto that, after that it's just useless.. I've been using that for 7k kms.. Changing at an interval of 1000kms. Recently shifted to ax7 and have clocked 1000kms. As it is semi synthetic, you can change it at an interval of 2500-3000kms. If you use fully synthetic oils like shell ultra or motul 300v then anything between 3500-4000kms.. Hope this helps
