• Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

I had minor screeching noise from rear disc brakes when my bike was new. Fellow xbhpians helped me out and suggested to apply white grease between calliper piston and the back of the disc pads. Since then i never had any noise from disc brakes. I did the same when i had to change the front disc pads.
I am no expert, but i think he should (if not already) give it a try.

And thanks guys for the reference, that does look nice, but that honda wing looks little smaller. It should cover the entire fairing, exactly like the CBR's in my previous post. Now i think that will also look good enough. I am trying my way with photoshop and will post later.

It is normal for the disc to get warm slightly but excess heat is caused due to pads rubbing and sticking caliper pins.

Remove the brake pads and scrub them lightly with emery paper or scotch brite, lubricate the caliper pins and push the piston in slightly. Put back everything and pump the brake pedal few times.
They haven't been serviced till date.. I will check it out and try it, thank you

This is how my spark plug looks. Perfecto! Me happy.
Is that a G-Power plug (J-type with fine center)?
How can I find a G-Power equivalent of NGK-CPR7HSA model?
How much did you pay for a box of four G-Power plugs you recently bought?

Yes, its a G Power. These plugs are available for every bike. Just mention the bike name and the dealer will give you a compatible plug. Verify the gap mentioned on the packet with the bike's manual. Its 0.9 mm for a Karizma.
Cost me 580 rupees for a set of 4.

Here is my 20k kms old G-Power: no carbon deposits of anysorts...:-) just a little rust on the nut...i filed it with polish paper and fixed it back.Click image for larger version

20k is a lot even for G Power. Change it.

After watching this thread, Yesterday i tell my mechanic that i am using the same sparkplug for 36000 kms since 2011 when i brought the bike, my mechanic told me that you do not need to change the spark plug untill any problem persist,The frequent need for sparkplug change occures in enfield due to huge carbon deposits there........so please clarify me this issue wheather i change sparkplug or go with the same.......????

Yes you have to, 36000 kms is too much for a spark plug.

my rear disc heats up like crazy.. even though I use 70-30 forward-rear brake ratio it gets heated up. cant touch it for more than 3 seconds..
what is the reason for this??
Rotate the wheel and see if its obstructed by rubbing pads. A little noise from pads is fine. If you find oil level to be below max, top it up with around 5-10 ml only (DON'T FILL IT TO BRIM). Top it to brim only when you change the disc pads.

Disc getting heated up is very normal. Once I touched R15's front disc with my finger after a hard brake. Skin on the finger literally burnt. I got a bubble. So, if the wheel is rotating with not much obstruction and the disc fluid level is normal, don't bother much about the heat.

NITIN SHARMA You'll have a slightly better fuel efficiency and slight increase in performance. ( seniors correct me if am wrong..)

G power costs 170 rupees, Iridium is more expensive I am not sure about its cost sorry

ravi@17bhp The oil level is upto half the distance of MAX. I rotated the wheel and it was smooth, so I guess like you say I dont have to worry about it

Then, don't top up the brake fluid. Top it up only when you change the disc pads. And as I said, no need to worry about the disc getting heated up. Its quite normal.
