Yes I agree it was a miss on my part. But coincidentally, my chain guard is (rather was) broken from one end, which rattles as well as the rear foot peg (which is missing the spring after it got stolen ). Hence the confusion. Glad that I found out the source later than never. Chain guard fixed in the evening. Got one from an old scrapped 2011 model ZMA.

And I agree Hero's parts are of excellent quality.

What type of sound? Is it a screech sound when you apply the brake? If yes then its just dust particles going haywire with the brake pads.
Get a pressurised air wash done and it'll be gone.

Buddy...if there is this "taak" sound that u get just when u press the front disk it might be coming when the break pads clamp the disk while u press the break.....not an issue usually happens if ur break pads are a little worn and the gap between the pads n disk has increased due to it.

And if its a Screetching sound...the our buddy in the previous post has jotted the solution:-)

Then in that case i feel the mechanic may be correct coz the base of the break pad must be of a lower quality than the original nissin ones and hence it might be vibrating in the caliper while u break...u must have started witnessing it recently coz again due to wear n tear of the flesh of the break pads there tends to be a gap between the disc n the pads if not depressed tightly.....!!

PS: i agree the nissin break pads are costly..but always prefer using OEMs because they are really a value for money!!

Dr.Hemant Gajendra- Always use OE pads as local pads will damage the disc rotor and also will result in poor performance when heated due to continous brake application or in heavy rains.

In my extreme had used ASK pads after first pads were changed, but in rains the performance were very bad almost nil braking. In 500 km i changed to OE pads again and they have still 70% life even after running 17k km after change.

Brake is a safety aspect of bike and never neglect on that part, moreover OE nissin pads are excellent and i wished that my extreme had nissin same as Karizma.

Here i have seen at my retailer shop that 99% people use those local pads instead of OE. Even when i bought OE pad one mechanic who had come to get spares asked me that why are you using OE pads at so much costs, i just replied that you cannot understand.

my rear disc heats up like crazy.. even though I use 70-30 forward-rear brake ratio it gets heated up. cant touch it for more than 3 seconds..
what is the reason for this??

Check break oil...!!
And if u have just changed ur break pads the issue may vanish after some time. Also check for rear disc if its out of shape and is touching the pads at a particular place when wheel rotated...!
Had the same issue when i changed to new break pads..but the issue resolved on its own after a few days.

Rear disc is perfectly fine, there is no sound when I try to rotate the rear wheel after putting the bike on main stand.. it rotates freely..

And brake pads are stock ones only.. the bike is just 4k kms old..

about the rear brake oil, what should I do to check it??

Open the seat, battery side compartment (fairing with HECS sticker on it). That would reveal the brake oil reservoir. Check the levels.

But; I feel you ride with some part of your foot on the rear brake lever. Keep the balls of your feet on the pegs and your brake discs won't heat.

No bro, I don't keep my foot on the rear brake lever all the time.. actually I position myself in such that only my toe is over the brake lever

update- guys just checked the rear brake oil level and its just below the max mark.
Now what must be the problem?

If its from a few days...might be due to the increased heat all through the city..

Possible it might be due to the summer heat as you mentioned.. but the front disc is not as hot as the rear one, though I use front only mostly, dunno the cause for this.

Haha, only a fool would pour cold water on a hot engine!!

It is normal for the disc to get warm slightly but excess heat is caused due to pads rubbing and sticking caliper pins.

Remove the brake pads and scrub them lightly with emery paper or scotch brite, lubricate the caliper pins and push the piston in slightly. Put back everything and pump the brake pedal few times.
I posted the link to cbz thread few pages back. Check it out.
