@Divya Sharan ! Long time....I keep reading the thread, enjoying every bit, but laziness overwhelms. And...when that ends, there's a volley of questions and here are they:

How is your experience with the Zapper Q...w.r.t. grip, wet conditions, cornering?

It's been almost 30,000 kms in 3+ years, and the clutch plates keep getting fried. 7 times to be precise. Riding is fine. ASC can't find a clue to the cause. Don't know if that's a normal thing?

Ok..this one is off the grid. How do you manage to keep the JH number despite being in KA? I recently shifted back to Mumbai and am unwilling to change the number. Really need suggestions for this one.

Satisfactory. This bike is not a corner carver and ZQ manages everything well. I do yearn for a fatter (maybe 90/90-18) front tire though. Life is 30k km types.

Not normal at all. I replaced clutch plates only once at 77k.
Check if you use half clutch in B2B traffic and if your clutch freeplay is nearly zero.

I paid road tax soon after I moved to KA. I didn't re-register for KA though. Though getting KA plates is not mandatory, I can't ask for reimbursement once I move out and that is fine by me.

Thanks! Divya Sharan

Clutch free play is always about 15 mm and my riding style is ok...no half-clutch as such. The entire setup goes kaput just like that!

Meanwhile, I'll change the rear tyre.

Now my queries,
1. I have been changing my sprocket for every 5000 - 8000kms in the 2nd bike (2013 Hero one). But its great and lasting more than double this in the older bike. Can engine braking be a reason? (because I ride this bike in traffic to work and the other bike mostly in weekends) Or is there something I need to check?
2. Something is wrong with the front of the bike. I thought air was less and yes it was a little low. And even now after filling Nitrogen, I feel like the bike is wobbling a little. What may be the cause for this?
Not sure how long the current sprocket will last but I figured out the 2nd one.

It was my helmet cable lock thing causing the wobbling as I hanged it in the middle of the handlebar inside the fairing.
The bike gave me a heart attack (could have fell over a stopped car in signal, as I went through the gap at some 15kmph and it wobbled heavily) when riding with my bro as pillion. He then looked at the bike and asked me to get rid of the cable lock from there. Things are good after that.

A sprocket life of 10-15k is even lower than most SBKs.

Only you can answer why it happens. Do you clean/lube the chain and keep it within its slackness limits at all times?

Not very often (but atleast after 2 full tanks @ 1200kms, I do) but the previous 2 sprockets were worse (didn't know why). I even asked the mechanic whether the quality of spares are down. Because I never lubed the chain in my 1st bike for nearly 30k kms and it was good. (changed sprocket at 34k)

Man! seriously? I doubt it.. I am sure the chain was lubed during service.. otherwise, your chain would break into pieces.. my Black Pearl sprocket has last for close to 36K kms and these the second set.. first set of sprockets, I played around with hence I couldn't use it further..

you should lube the sprockets close to every 500 kms.. if you run them dry, they tend to break.. mechanical parts need lube..

Yeah it (the 34k lasted one) was taken for service (oil change and basic checks) on every 3k kms at the start . (I know nothing about Bikes by then, I just ride and take it to service on time as they said oil needs to be topped up on 3k and replaced at 6k full service) I had to ride 51kms/day and mostly on GST Road and I never rode it off the road, used only for daily commute)

I had to do too much gear shifting and engine braking with the previous 2 sprockets that gave up easily as I was riding 48kms/day(shifted to other office) in bad traffic roads.

Get the chain lubed every 500 kms.. that would keep it from getting dry. Chennai is very hot and imagine riding on dry chain.. keeping things wet will help them last long

probably because you take better care not leaving the chain dry!

Hi, One small advice for all ZMRians. Please avoid removing the fairing of the bike. The fairing has some considerable weight and it does shows in the riding manners of the bike. The bike isn't stable at all above 90kmph. Also handling took a good hit, cornering was sloppy and twitchy all the way. I have again installed it with some resins and welds. Now there is no rattling and the bike is again rock solid in the straight lines. A safe feeling for regained.
