    Vidyut,

Just get a bottle of Motul 15w 50 Mineral oil, Keep your bike on the centre stand.. Idle for a bit just to ensure your oil level is settled, and pour some in. Keep an eye on the oil level. Once it goes a little beyond the mark. Close up the oil knob and idle for a while. The oil level should decrease. Keep doing that till you get a consistent level somewhere above the mark. do not ride the bike without sufficient oil in it. It could cause permanent damage.

    Cheers!

visited the mechanic and showed him the bike. He said the clutch bearings needed lubrication. Opened the case lubricated the clutch, oiled the chain. 30 mins later the bike is running fine . No problems reported as of yet will monitor the oil level. The mechanic also checked the Engine oil and said it was ok. The color was Dark green (No blacks visible). He topped up the oil too Rs. 250 charged.

        hey guys.
one quick question, i know i may find the answer if I go through all 66 pages. but stilll i need a quick answer, so here is the Question...
. Is there any change between royal enfield desert storm 500 cc, September 2012 model and current desert storm model. if Yes then What is the Difference ?
(Actually i was going to book 500 cc and i don't have a problem with 5-6 months waiting as i already have an electra 350 now. so i was about to book a new bike then i found someone selling desert storm, its 2012 September model and only 650 km done. so pretty new.. so just wanted to know is there any company made difference now as compared to their earlier models.
Plus one more thing i saw some rust thing started on battery cover, on the top part around the edge, what is the solution ?)

While riding, if i let go of the throttle and then accelerate again, it feels that the bike is lugging (this happens at all speeds). I am not sure if this is how its supposed to be. I talked to the service guy and he said it is normal for a big engine bike like that. Also, if running at speeds around 60kmps, if i stop the throttle, the engine feels as if something heavy is moving inside it. I fear the Engine oil change was not done properly at the 1st service. Any idea what is happening?
Yes, lugging can happens with 500cc bullet, it depends on how low the rpm went to when you left the throttle. Do not lug the engine when its new. Other than that the sounds are not abnormal, they will smooth out once you cross 5000kms. Don't worry just keep riding and get used to the bikes ways, each one is slightly different. There is a chance that the fuel could be unclean, fill up from good petrol bunk.

                Hi sparky,

I got the bike checked and it was found that it was a lubrication issue. The mechanic lubricated the clutch rod (atleast that's what he called it)and the problem was gone. On The fuel front, i have made it a point that i fill from the same oil company petrol bunk. I might add, that this has become kind of an obsession with me to the point that I get the bike filled exactly at the same bunk every time.

Hi guys I need your advice regarding a few modifications for my classic 500.
                    Thwould be the advantagestages?e :-
1 Is the 20 ltr tank available for classic 500, I have heard brakes?e deser13 storm has such an option. My bike colour is teal, can it be painted the same way as thd 13 ltr tank.
2 Can I install rear disc brakes and what all modifications would be required.
3 Is there an option for ABS to be installed for the classic, I saw one variant on the net but it's only for the front disc are there options for both brakes?
4 Is it possible to install an oxygen sensor to make the efi closed loop, what would be the advantages.

                      Please find my reply below:
                      1) 20 Ltr tank is very much possible you can buy it from royalenfieldzone (online).
                      2) Rear disk brake is also possible and I had inquired about it to my mechanic here in Pune. total cost involved is 10K+.
                      3) ABS. no idea
                      4) O2 sensor is very difficult + expensive. you need to source wiring harness + sensor + ECU + bend pipe (exhaust).

Rather than installing the O2 sensor why don't you put the CARB (BS33) on the bull?

                      Regards

Hi guys! This post is long overdue as if any of you are jobless enough to go back and check, youll see that I posted about wanting a Classic 500 2 years ago...now finally Ive gotten a Cl 500 DS for myself and the feeling is paramount! Unadulterated joy, thats what it is...
Now, I had a few queries to ask you guys:
                          a) Ive done 1100 kms on my bike and Ive heard that this is about the time to change the Silencer...I was very confused about what other parts one needs to change like the air filter, etc. if I get a say, Goldstar silencer...
                          b) Any good recommendations for a Windshield? I tried one but it was too short and all the wind in my face! The shopkeeper was gracious enough to return my money though....

                          Thanks in advance!

Hi guys.. need your immediate help. i had booked a DS and it is ready for delivery. yesterday i took a ride and found the following issues.

                            1. golden brownish color of silencer near cat con area
                            2. misfiring when decelerating.

are these serious enough to ask for change of bike or can i go ahead with it. quick reply will be highly appreciated.

Hey bro, congrats for your new bull, welcome to the royal enfield family. The points which you have highlighted are not so serious problems. The misfiring especially is a very common thing in the bulls. So i will say go ahead and take the bike.

Hello Richie, hope you are having good time with your desert storm. Regarding the silencer, i will say you can go directly and fit the silencer you want, no need of change of air filters and all, those are just rumors. Its just that yo make sure that the aftermarket silencer is filled with glass wool otherwise it will harm the engine in future. I am using a goldstar from the last 2 years on my cl500, i have not faced any problems til now. About the windshield, i would say check out the windshields which used to come with the machismos, those are highly practical and protects the chest and head from the winds.

Thanks for the quick reply mate! Comforting to know that I dont have to tinker around much with my motorcycle coz frankly Im a Doctor and don't really have much knowledge about the nitty gritties of machines. However I share a passion for riding which is why I got myself a Bullet. Will look into the various silencers available...Personally the Goldstar and Indore silencers sound good to me. Will check out more and try and upload a video soon. Thanks for the tip about the glass wool will ensure thats installed.
About the windshield, Ive spoken to the owner of Motor Cycle House in Pune (somehow all Bullet mechanics seem to swear by his stuff). He said he'll try to get one for me soon.
                                Will upload pics then!
                                Thanks again.
