  • Hello everyone, just wanted to share my first servicing experiance thats why i am posting this:-
today at 10:35 i went for my first SVC (SVC center :- Ajay Bajaj,Patna),first they took my bike for wash and their the guy asked for 5rs for shampoo....lol....i thaught it may be some car shampoo but amazed to see clinic plus but i didn't said anything .
After that they drained water from all over the bike and kept my bike on hydrolic platform (or whatever its called i dunno) and drained engine oil after that they asked me to purchase engine oil from their spare shop i went their and asked for Motul as mentioned in previous posts that its best but guy their told me that you have to use our own engine oil otherwise your engine warranty will be voilated and then he gave me elf 4t 20w50 oil,i opposed "if your are saying that we have to use your oil then give me original Bajaj oil" after long talk i setteled on elf as the owner of SVC came hearing of problem going on there and told me in best manner about the oil .
and then after refilling engine oil they cleaned air filter and put something like engine oil but light in colour on it and fixed it on bike while lubcration all other part in between and then after fixing my all problems (my problems:- 1.engine goes off after i change my gear to lower after high speed 2.too much vibration 3.knocking sound even on first gear on pillion) they test drive my bike and gave it to me for test drive and i was amazed to feel decrese in vibration,in my view it was 50% decrese in vibration they said it is common with all bikes it decreases after first engine oil change and i was happy to feel less vibration for which pulsar 135 is known for and all other problems are fixed.
And at last after polishing my bike was shining like new.
here i have one question as my next SVC is at 4500-5000 do i need to refill engine oil in between?
Thanks and please comment if you have any suggestions.

        • i used castrol, bajaj dtsi 10000,elf 20w50 mineral oil but all of them loose their viscosity after about 1000 km's. smoothness is'nt the same. i am thinking of trying semi synthetic or synthetic oil's.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

          • Hello fellow xBHPians,

This is my first post, although I have been following this thread for a long time now.
I had bought a Pulsar 135LS one and a half months back and have chalked up a 1000KM on the odo.
The bike had also undergone 1st servicing at 700 kms at the A.S.S.
I had two queries for my fellow riders here:

            1. Every time the bike gets wet in the rain, water seeps into the fuel tank and while running gives jerks.
How do I stop the water from entering the fuel tank?

            2. Although an oft repeated question, what would be the best recommended engine oil for my bike? During the 1st servicing, the SVC people had put Bajaj 10000 DTSi engine oil in my bike. Although currently I do not face any problems with the bike (touch wood), I would like the engine to be even smoother.
Any recommendations for me as regards when I should go in for an oil change and which brand of 20W50 oil would be best for me.
I do know from the posts that everyone recommends MOTUL 5100, but it's 15W50 to the best of my knowledge, so is it ok?
Where can I get it from in Bangalore?

              Welcome to XBHP...

I'm not sure why water gets into fuel tank, that small hole is suppose to be air vent and should not allow water. Please talk to svc guys on this and force them to resolve this issue. I don't think it's normal.

Reg engine oil.. Motul 15W50 is the best you can get in mineral oils. Recommended engine oil for P135LS is more like xxW50 where xx can be 20 or less, but W50 should be same. Refer engine oils thread for more information on this. if you are going for Motul 15w50, it will certainly be good till 2000-2500 kms.

              • Thank you vrugonnab for the reply.

Regarding my engine oil query, I have been through the copious posts in the engine oil thread and still remain unconvinced. Most of the guys there are recommending MOTUL 15W50 after 2.5 -3k KMS since it's a semi synthetic oil.

My bike has done only 1k KMS. Thus my query for engine oil recommendation. By the way I would also like to know the addresses of reliable shops for buying engine oil in Bangalore, as there is a lot of adulteration in that front also.

                    1. single time brust is not problem. If you weren't in 90s for a long time then it is more than OK. The more you rev engine becomes more smooth as it is in run in period.

2 2nd service should be 2500-3000kms. The more frequently you change engine oil, engine will be more smooth. I would say change once in 1500kms and then in 2nd service 2500kms.

                    3. Downgearing means while you are at 4K RPM in 5 th gear when you downshift at 4th gear you are doing ~5K RPM that's why smoothness goes off. Don't downshift in high speed. It may cause accident.

Motul 15W50 has a mineral oil as well, which costs around 200 per 1 ltr.
Which area are you living in? I know there is one shop near Murugeshpallya city bus stop, I think it's Krishna lubricants. If you are close by that place you can go there, otherwise check engine oil thread for Motul distributor contact details in Bangalore.

Depends on what engine oil is being used. Generally mineral oils do good job for 1500-2500 kms. Motul 15w50 does it for 2500kms.. while Bajaj dts-i oil does it for 1500kms.. change oil accordingly.

Well it doesn't cause any accident, it's another means of breaking used on race tracks. But may be not good for engine life (i'm not sure about it though).

                        • inexperienced rider will crach his bike if he tries engine braking at high speed, that said sometimes engine braking is necessary in case of emergency. during this monsoon suddenly a car in front of me stalled and i applied both brakes but in the wet braking ability is highly reduced so i had to use engine braking to slow down the bike without skidding

Engine breaking by down shifting is safer at those speeds, who knows you may end up locking wheels trying to apply breaks. Just like Biker kid explained it's better to go for engine breaking in slippery conditions.

At last i got my dream bike man.
Rode it for 60kms. Feels like butter.
Only problem i faced is the neutral gear..its damn hard to get the in neutral gear when the engine is on...
Otherwise the bike is smooth man..
                              Really like it
