Yes its very common for a new bike to heat up very quickly, After the first servicing is done, the bike will start to breathe real well, and will open up eventually.

Although i don't have experience of a disk brake before, but i could understand something was wrong with mt front wheel.. When i tried to move it, it did not move freely.. There was some kind of sound and i felt it to be coming from the disc..
I guess the disc brake is a little tight..

      Is my guess right??

      Please advise..
i had the same prob when i bought my bike, it's common and normal... 3500 kms done the sound has reduced to minimal now...with the use of brake's, the pads will wear and sound and friction will reduce.. And get the front mud cover thin removed, it will obviously obstruct air flow and heat the engine more than usual...also ride safe in monsoon's...don't over speed, disc's don't have the same grip they have when they are dry
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

        Thanks man..

I just could not keep any doubts in my mind. Thats why i went to the svc today.. told them regarding the disc brake and the engine overheating problem.. Regarding the disc brake they said it was normal and i checked other bikes as well for my satisfaction..

As far as the engine overheating is concerned they checked the temperature using some kind of temperature sensor.. They said it was fine.. And ask me to come during the first servicing.. I think it is because of a new engine.. anyway will keep it under watch..

And one more thing.. When i asked them to fit a buzzer in my bike(for turn indicators), they said it could not be done on pulsar models.. They said that for it you had to cut some wires and that may lead your warranty to suffer..

i have an buzzer fitted... i think there is an cutout below the seat, to attach the buzzer. BTW did you keep the mud protector on? or got it removed?

No i still i haven't removed it. Actually i had asked the service engineer in the svc about it. He said that it does not affect engine cooling that much as the upper part of the engine is still open.. But i have my own doubts and thinking of removing it after 2 to 3 weeks when the rains subside.. Its raining intermittently and sometimes pretty hard.. That is again spoiling my plans to take the bike outside for a ride.. Whenever i come back there are mud splashes everywhere.. THE DISADVANTAGE OF HAVING A SPLIT REAR MUD GUARD CAN BE SEEN NOW.. That hurts a lot, seeing a new bike like that.. This is a big reason why i am not removing that mud protection plate..

            • What should be the idle rpm for this bike.. When the bike was first started it was 1000 rpm.. then the mechanic changed it.. it was too low(around 900 maybe).. i went to the svc yesterday and the service engineer said that it should be around 1350.. When i asked the mechanic to tune it, he tuned it to 1000 rpm and said that it was correct.. it seemed to be correct yesterday when the engine was warm.. But today when i am trying to start it(cold engine) ,it is getting off automatically after 15 to 20 seconds.. It is not affecting the ride though.. Should i change it or wait till my first servicing...

It should be 1500....thats whats mine shows...dont have any problem in the morning either....it starts on the first try....keep the engine idle for a minute before taking the bike out for the first time in the day...
Will be taking my bike for its first service next week....its been a sweet ride till nw...only problem is the gear is a bit stiff....looking to get it sorted during the first service..

Coming back from a ride right now(around 20kms)... I saw the idle rpm after 10 kms as 1200 rpm.. And the engine was running super smooth without any wobbles in neutral.. Same was not the case in the morning as it the engine was not tht smooth and was wobbling a bit before stopping..

I think its fine.. what do you think??

                  • And one more thing... Does setting in a lower rpm increase the fuel efficiency??

                    Comment

                    • MY bike has done >1300 kms now.

Lately, I have noticed a strange problem.

My electric start does not work properly. After many tries (many thumb presses), it starts.

The problem started after I went to a local mechanic to get my petrol tank cleaned since water was getting into it after every rain/ water wash. The mechanic had also set the idle rpm at 1000 rpm saying that the bike would have better fuel efficiency.

Since this incident the bike is facing this problem of erratic starting with electric start. It's a pain in the traffic. When I thumb the starter, the motor doesnt even turn, only a "khrr khrr" sound occurs.

                      Any suggestions?

Chheck your battery.. The kind of sound you mentioned may be due to low battery or some kind of loose contact.. Check out with the svc..

                        • IN retrospect I think you're correct.

When the neutral indicator is very bright, it starts without a hitch and that happens when I have ridden it around for 10-12 kms straight.

But what could cause low battery in a new bike?

                          Comment

                          • Guys I have faced the same problem this happens because there is a connection of wires near the engine which is not in order hence the Neutral light kind of flickers which causes problems in starting the bike with self starter. Get this checked at the service center. Till you get that done pull the clutch and press self and it will start fine.

                            • Any idea, why the need to depress the clutch to start the bike?

More so,sometimes in traffic I have tried to start the bike in gear by depressing the clutch, the same problem occurs then also.

                              Any solutions?

                              • The new split mud guard in the rear is of no use.. It has been raining nowadays.. I just came back from yet another ride and its full of mud stains.. Even above the mud guard!!! God!! I had washed it yesterday itself..
                                Anyone else facing this problem??
