One of the xbhp members has done a saddlesore on P135...i think his name is Nin...
U could ask for his advice...

found the thread, i'll have a look. btw, i'm not looking for 1000 miles, just under 500kms
I am very much here...thanks for the reference trsakhilk..

Cyber Don....yes its true that the P135LS's seat is uncomfortable...but "would this ride be good enough to cover the distance?" DEFINITELY! If its just about the bike,it undoubtedly will perform flawlessly...and as far as the question of travelling that distance SAFELY arises its better to take adequate breaks in between considering limitations of OUR HUMAN BODY...so ride safe mate
A very good and safe biker not only because he can pop up either of the wheels, scrape his knees on a corner or go fast and make it look stylish but because he very well knows his limits and capabilities and has the patience to learn about others and ride safe ! :)

The trick during running in period is not to let the engine "Overheat". Hence avoid taking long distances during the initial period. Even if you do, then let the engine cool off by taking breaks.

Occassional short bursts of acceleration and deceleration is actually help the piston rings seat/seat with the cylinder walls. But care needs to be taken that it is not done for long durations (which will obviously harm the engine due to overheating because of the friction).

Also riding at very low rpm is in fact not good for engine running in as it does not let the piston rings expand fully.

Also take care not to ride at a constant speed. Keep varing the engine speed.

Even if you can't stick to the above mentioned running in tips, Relax.. modern engines are quite well made. Just ride normally, don't rip or ride the bike too slow for too long and take care not to let the engine over heat.

Nice info dude.. my speedo isn't connected yet, it seems that registration will take another 2-3 days so i gotta run without the speedo. I'm not sure of my driving speed, but of course, i'd like to be below the 45-50kmph mark. any ide idea how much RPM i should maintain in the 5th gear to be below the 50kmph mark?

Till 4000 rpm should be fine.

But like I have mentioned it is ok to occassionally let out burst of acceleration and in fact not advisable to ride very slow either.

yup, i will maintain 4k RPM but of course, i'l give occasional bursts of speed

i think its fine, that too because you've finished your first service, you can touch the 60kmph mark

dude, i just read payeng's blog. Basically, its all the RPM and not the speed. you can rip your engine in first gear if you go for higher RPMs. basically keep the RPM below 4k and you should do real good. i think i reached a bit over 4k in the 5th gear. i must have crossed 50...

                      • After giving my bike at the bajaj svc, the bike needs atleast 4-6 kicks to start..but start's with just one electric start...??? any pointer to what could they have done now? also as the bike starts up it starts very slowly..as if resurrecting from death...rpm 0 se 1400 some solwly in like 2-3 seconds... average also gone down..i can smell a lot of petrol smell after starting the bike than before

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

I suspect that they have messed up with your carb settings. Probably the amount of fuel entering the combustion chamber is more than required. get it checked by a good mechanic.
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

i am goin to try setting the carb myself...also the auto choke sensor is probably gone kaput..where is this sensor located?

After reading all your comments in the thread, I guess that your bike air-fuel mixture is too lean!

The service centre people might have set the air-fuel mixture too lean to make sure that your bike get a better milage!

I think you can locate the air-fuel screw in the carburator, it is the gold color screw. Rotate it anti-clockwise for about a half of a circle! Then ride the bike for a few Kms, and check. If it is still stalling, then rotate the screw a little more(about a quater of a circle to anti-clockwise) This should solve the problem! Otherwise, you have to take it to the service.
                                .
CAN U PLEASE PUT SOME PICS THAT SHOW THAT SCREW??
