    my bad!

let me put it this way, and this way comes because of research on xbhp

when you start the engine in cold conditions, the auto choke is applied and the idle RPM is much higher than your setting. (i hope i'm right )

i think this is happening all the time. when i drive in the city using the clutch a lot, the RPM rises to around 2.5-3k without using the throttle.

if i release the clutch to its sweet spot, the RPM gets back to 1.3k.

    was i clear? :|

is this because of the auto choke? or it is something else?

btw, just spoke to a local mechanic about the suspension.. he said its already in the softest position... :|

relax dude, it happens if you are riding in heavy traffic(bumper to bumper) or if you are riding for too long without giving break. I'm not sure why Though it can be corrected by properly setting idle rpm, you need not bother about it as it's not an issue at all.
But, if it's indeed raising in an alarming fashion, then do go to SVC and get it set properly.

        i wouldnt say alarming

it doesnt go past the 2.5-3k mark. i'm only concerned about fuel efficiency in such a case. the tune is pretty good, getting around 60kmpl, pick up is also decent. so i want to maintain that fuel efficiency

what about removing the kick start lever all together? lol, strange ideas

        • ^^^ Not a bad idea at all, but keep it in stock form until you run out of warranty, why do want to experiment with it even before that?

            good thought!

i'l remove it after the warranty period. 10k km right?

and i managed to set the RPM thingy right. i kept the idle at 1k. it seems to do well right now, never had that problem

only till the bajaj guys told me the warranty is for 2years

                    2yrs!

i thought it was 1yr or 10k km, whichever is earlier.. :|

                    isnt it!?

well, gotta wait in that case... mine is less than 2 months old has done around 1400km

the mechanic said that it would be wise to change the oil at 1500 even though bajaj oil is supposed to last 5k is that advisable? also, what oil would be better?

i'm looking at shell, coz i swear by shell i use only shell petrol.

shell has loads of oils, so which one should i choose?

                    • Got my baby on eve of Janmashtami w/o Number. Got all the accessories next day. same day got an accident. nothing major just touched a BEST bus & broke the free small dicky. no scratches on bike.

anyways, The bike is awasome. Such a smooth engin from bajaj is a big surprise. having owned Discover 125 & Stunner 125, i can say than this is the smoothest engin. ran only 105 kms till.

                        • I bought my Pulsar 135 on the 22nd of August 2011, Janmashtami and have covered 300 Kilometers within a week. I plan to go for my first service next week as soon as I clock 600 Kilometers.
This is the first bike that I have owned and I have the following queries:-

[1] Is it recommended to change the engine oil during the first service?

[2] What engine oil needs to be used? I was told by a friend to get Motul 5100 15W50 engine oil. Please recommend an engine oil.

[3] What are the things that need to be checked during the first service?

[4] What are modifications that can be done to the bike without losing the warranty?

[5] What tubeless tyres can be used with the Pulsar 135? Would I lose performance and mileage?

These are some pics of my new bike (the rains have made it really dirty):-

                            • [1] Is it recommended to change the engine oil during the first service?
Yes, its mandatory. Actually they change only engine oil on 1st service.

[2] What engine oil needs to be used? I was told by a friend to get Motul 5100 15W50 engine oil. Please recommend an engine oil.
Yes Motual is best but availability is issue, Valvoline 4T Premium is good value for money, cheap and offers great performance.

[3] What are the things that need to be checked during the first service?
You should tell them whatever small niggles you are facing.

[4] What are modifications that can be done to the bike without losing the warranty?
Cosmetic changes have no impact on warranty, any hard mod which is permanent to modify engine/exhaust etc behaviour will ruin your warranty.

[5] What tubeless tyres can be used with the Pulsar 135? Would I lose performance and mileage?
                              MRF Zapper. No.

Remove saree guard, why you switched to aftermarket seat cover, that carbon fiber look doesnt look good, hope I'm wrong andd its decent in real life.

                              Congrats.

Go for second service asap. 5000km is long interval, not advisable for new bike.
