  • Hey guys howz it goin?

My bike growing older by leaps and bounds, but even with 20+K on the odo its got enough grunt to put a smile on my face every time I go Wide Open Throttle!

Bike is still finding it difficult to adjust to the Bangy climate, still runs like its at MSL.

So what tyres are you guys using? I'll be changing mine after sometime, yet to decide between Michelin Sirac and Zapper Vyde.

    • We should have a roll call for amount of crashes or something like that
Locking the front and flipping is the worst experience you could err experience.

Guyz.....last saturday a strange thing happened....water dripped into the petrol tank... I took the bike to the service center & they took 200 Rs for petrol tank cleaning....
I checked the gasket...it was fine.....
Please suggest me something so that I can prevent such thing frm happening....

check if the fitting for the tank lid is tight enough that should solve the problem.

Congrats on crossing the 20K mark..

Regarding the Tyres: The Zapper Vyde would be a straight fit (same spec tyre ) but the Michelin Sirac (although a very good all purpose tyre) probably doesn't come in tubeless form. Also it has got a 90 profile (the Zappers on the P220 comes as a 80 Profile tyre).. so there is a slight drop in initial acceleration/pick up also also a slight (4-5 kms) increase in top speed.

Sandeep Bagchi is currently using the Sirac on his P220 and the above observation was made by him.

the service center guy was adamant that it needs to be changed at around 20 k , so I had enquired about the costs. But I knew they were still good to go for another 5 k kms which was reconfirmed by their mech after riding the bike.

As of now its 22k + and gear shifting isnt smooth anymore ..... I guess just another 1000 kms for the clutch plates left now.

                  • Praful Bhai...I have already given my views about MRF Vyde..Give me a month time, i'll give my views on Sirac also

Clutch Plates..mine was changed at 24 k Kms..including the unforgiving HX !! But the guy said, it would have lasted 5k more.

I am just back from Chennai. Amazing ride.
Bike has done 26 k kms now. its been around 10 months old. By the time the loan amount is cleared, i think i should be prepared for a new bike...

No problem with the bike...she (she has to be a she to me) still does 135
riding at 120 + for 10's of kms at a stretch does not harm her still.
                    All this after HX....what next

                    • Look how low was the center stand before

After the mod. How much the stand has raised

I managed to achieve about 5cm of clearance for the chain. Which i feel is adequate.

This was how the center stand look like before the mod.

                      After the mod.

Please note that the base is not horizontal but it actually has an upward slant in the front. This was done to let the whole surface of the rubber washer rest against the metal stopper.

Here are the dimensions of the L shaped stopper for the center stand.

lastly , the lever attached to the center stand ( the thing painted in red) can be bent a little outwards to get extra clearance for the chain.

                            • donno if this is the right time and place for this but 220 is no doubt a good bike but it has rally given me a tough time as she has to be taken to service centre almost every weekend. She has never performed satisfactorily for more than 2-3 days. Something or the other keeps on happening. Makes me feel as if the bike is NAKLI

Not satisfied with the bike at all...still i would say the bike is nice but Bajaj could have done a better job by making the entire bike more reliable as most of it is an experiment with people like me

                              • dont know but im not able to rip the bike anymore... on an open stretch the bike wont go above 9K RPM restricting the top whack to only 125KMph. Not that i havent hit high speed ... the bike has also touched 135KMph @ 10K RPM (a little higher than 10K RPM) but now its not just happening any clue what is missing??
