  • Buying a New Hot Babe!!!

Hi u all!!! thanks a zillion for letting me know about the vast world of the mighty P220.I happens to visit this forum quite often and finds it truly interesting and knowledgeful abut the various minute issues which are being cleared to give the rider a joyful ride.

Well this is my very first post in this forum.I used to had a P180 (black) in jan 08.good bike ,never disappointed me and truly gave me the taste of a Pulsar.Though i sold it in Aug (for some personal issues) and i am currently riding a civic( of my big pal's) but I still miss my bike a lot.

Now coming to the point ,I love the P220 and I want to buy it definitely( almost made up my mind). But there is a BIG problem coming in my way.First of all i must tell u that i live in Dhanbad( N.B dhanbad has no PBK showrooms).Even i talked to the local bajaj dealers ,but they openly refused to bring a 220 from ranchi which happens to have nearest PBK from my place.(approx abt ~200 kms). Now the main problem is how am i gonna service my bike? I am not at all thinking of driving such long miles to get the babe serviced, though i can get her spares from kol as i actually belong from thr only but waht abt servicing.? and moreover, let's say, even if i buy her, how shud i bring her to my place ( ride her here OR book it by train????)

I am totally confused and need serious guidance from all u helpful guys out thr
    Awaiting for early suggestions please.
    Yan

    • Hi Yan, welcome to xbhp

First of all, wait for a while - Bajaj is coming up new updated Pulsar range, starting with the p150 and p180.

Secondly it is a pity that the local dealer is not ready to get the p220. what i suggest is talk to the Ranchi probiking guy and see if its ok to get the 1st service done at the local dealer. after that, when the service intervals increase (2000km right?), u can always ride to Ranchi every 2 months (or whenever u need the service) and get it serviced.

I know this sounds taxing - u got no other option if u really have finalised your mind onto the Pulsar 220.

Thanx a lot for replying so early..well i am really glad to have a useful suggestion so fast.BTW is it possible for the ranchi PBK guys to arrange a servicing at (~200kms) in dhanbad with a local dealer.? And yes,i forgot to ask although i have made up my mind but still I am asking ,will it be the rite choice buying the 220 .? and how shud i bring it from ranchi.?

        • See, talk to the Ranchi guy and see what he can do : may be they send a mechanic for the 1st service, or may be they tell the local dealer to service ur bike.
Secondly, yes, u can ride the bike from Ranchi - just keep her around the 65-70km/h mark during the ride. Never push a brand new bike too much

And as for your choice - well, it has always been a heated debate between P220 and Karizma and R15. All these bikes are good in their own aspects. But as i said, wait for a while, the new P220 might be around the corner.

Welcome to Xbhp brother.....Nice to see your interest in p220....

First of all many of us here have the same problem of not having a Pbk in local....moreover P220 remains hassle free if not tampered with.....and yeah no Bajaj showroom will service the P220.....They simply don't have the knowledge and the machinery to do that....Don't let anyone else mess with the bike....

Disc Pads really lasts long. I got it changed after 5th or around 5th service that's 10,000 kms. Whatever, get it checked ASAP. As suggested by someone, may be some air bubbles have appeared.
Yeah thnx....wil get it checked.....showed that to a local mechanic.....he opened the disc assembly and cleaned everything.....the disc is working fine.....buts stilll it was a horrendous experience

You got only 2 options, either you are ready to do 400 km round trips to Ranchi and back or you look for other bike options.

Coz, given the 2500km service interval you will need to get the bike serviced every 1-6 months depending on how many kms you clock! Any local mech can do mostly everything for this bike provided they are knowledgeable enough. But nobody apart from the PBK's will have the diagnostic tool to check the electronics of the bike and set the tuning.

And oh! Not servicing the bike at its pre-defined service intervals makes your warranty go void!

So, if you are ready to ride down to Ranchi for every service then go ahead and buy the bike as you like it so much!

So is your issue resolved now?

PS: Disc pad change interval is entirely upto individual use. I know a guy who used to change his disc pads every 3K kms, I changed my disc pads @ 20K for the first time! The best thing is to check the pad wear at every service.

Also another thing new pads does not equate to better braking, I've noticed that the older pads get....more progressive the braking gets!

Welcome dude. Now my opnion after reading your posts, Don't buy 220 but rather go for 200. Now it may seem ironical as it comes from a guy who owns a P220. But If I was in your situation where nearest PBK is 200 odd kms away, I would think a lot before buying. I would never let any local mech or any other Bajaj service station ppl touch my bike except for small issues. PBK have proper tools & they are trained for Pro Biking ranges.
My opinion dude. If you still going for 200, I will be very hjappy as another member joins the 220 club. I am one of the satisfierd owner of 220. But you should wait for the newer avatar dude

I mean did u arrange for something special, because when i talked to the guys in my town they were like deadly adamant to the idea of not even touching the bike.So thats why aIa am so worried about how to get the job done witout running an odd 4ookms .!!!
