  • well i must say that this bike really makes my mind just fizzz up. The bike has got beautifull looks.

Well can some one just tell me one thing serious.. is there any possible way that the exterior for a bike is this and the interior ( means the engine part) is of honda unicorn.

Is there any modification or a reall pro out there can it be done. It is just a suggestion

      Guess, what might have happened
There is a sensor which is attached to front wheel and the other end of the wire is connected with the digital instrument panel. This sensor works on contact basis so there might be a case that due to dust creeping in the contact was temporarily lost or the tension in the wire is too high.

Similarly make sure that the battery head is properly oiled(A special gel comes which is used by PBK guys to oil the battery head).Without this there will be carbon deposits and you may find that the starter is not working at its optimum level(Say 3/10 the starter is not firing the bike).

Temporary blockage or something similar.I guess your service is due.

My Pulsar 220 is 2500kms old.Im having two problems.
firstly, the bike should do these speeds
      4000 RPM: 57-58 Kmph
      5000 RPM: 70 Kmph
      6000 RPM: 85 Kmph
      7000 RPM: 100 Kmph
This is very trivial.I'm not sure about the exact speeds on the mentioned r.p.ms(Never checked them with precision) but if its the same that you mentioned then first check your air filter box.Maybe oil or dirt is there.

Squeaking noise is perfectly normal.Every disc make the same kind of noise.Any other noise like the one chilled_fire mentioned and you should take notice.

One of the reasons:If you are facing leaking head then make sure that when the engine head is opened and the liquid gasket is applied it is applied on the black cap also because the bike that one buys(The new one is coming with the gasket applied on this cap) has no gasket protection in this section.

        secondly,
Im getting a "trrrrrrr" sound from the front disk whenever i apply the brakes.Reported the problem to probiking and they cleaned the disk pads. But it didnt help.
Apart from that, everything else is fine.

also posted the above thing in venkat's orkut community about 2 weeks ago, but he havnt provided any solusion till date.Any help guys? MG,Praful??(since posts of these 2 people convinced me to buy the 220)
Can't figure out the first prob, I suggest let someone else also ride the bike to figure out what could be wrong.

As far as the 'trrr' sound, get used to it. Its normal!

Using a DOT4 brake fluid instead of a DOT3 does reduce the sound a wee bit though. But the improvement is not that great that you get the brake fluid changed.

And as far as convincing you goes, well we just told you our perspective, the final decision was taken by you only naa....

Squeaking is slightly different, and that happens due to dust. In all these kms my front has never had the squeaking problem, its usually the rear that squeaks a lot. Getting it cleaned will help.

but thr is slight pick up issue and bike becomes harsh after long rides ....which is y the PB guys were sayin might b clutch plates..... but then again they just guess
Alos if the engine is opened at local mechanic then is the warranty void ?

        1. 2 weeks ago 18th Oct, i had gone to this SC and mentioned to them about engine harshness they suggested CO which was set and all was good from their end but not from mine.
        2. Just after two days i called them and mentioned the issue. they said come on weekend.
        3. Just to make sure they get the harshness , i did a round trip of Siddhivinayak(about 60kms) on Sunday 26th October and went to SC directly. they did find the harshness and suggested checking clutch plates. got an appointment of today as they were as usual busy tat day.
        4. today i was there even before they has started their shop.
        and excuses started
        a. "Aaj bahut gadi hai so it world be difficult." i said boss i have taken appointment a week ago. atleast u guys cld have informed me yesterday sayin it wont b possible.
        b. "kal ke 4 gadi pending hai woh hone ke baad aaj ke gadi and then my bike"
after lot of arguments i spoke to the head thr Mr. ambekar.
        now his excuse
        c. "Areee, 220 ke clutch plates hai hi nahin stock main "

WTF is this ??? some kind of joke ??

Am am seriously thinking of taking my bike to other mechanics now.
The rear disc brake noises is already driving me crazy.
        FCUK the SC !
Get it changed outside, warranty or nothing will be affected. BAL will not know, if you trust the mech and have prior experience with him. Get it done! Waise clutch replacement most prolly will not resolve your problem IMO.

        • @Jigar : +1

@Arjun : dude, reading such posts ppl do think as u thought, but trust me the Pulsar 220 is an AMAZING machine even its engine for that matter ofcource am not comparing it with YAm or Honda but it has come a long way...
The only issue is the Service center.

@Praful : again +1 , i told them atleast a 1000 time ki it might be balancer shaft , cause i have no issues with pick up and i mostly ride on highways, so there is very little chance of clutch worn out, but they never understand .
So i have got an appoint ment with this guy who wrks on SBKs at Andheri.
          Lets see what he says....
Aprilia RS 125 or Honda CB400 Vtec ..... which one will it be ??? I think its gonna be NINJA ZX 6R :-)

          • @Chilled: Why dont you come down to Turbhe SC at SK Bajaj PBK ?? Atleast they are better than Thane guys. And the issue that you mention, abt engine bcoming very harsh after long rides..... first resolution would be oil change, but I guess you are already on 300v.... so thats not the issue. When you say harsh.... is it vibes or sound or what??
Coz I had the same issue, got my "Balancer shaft" overloaded at Pune (Shirode Bajaj PBK), and issue was very much resolved. Couple of days back I did a 350+km ride with pillion (Lavassa/Pune city n back)... and trust me... the engine was and is as smooth as it was that morning when I started the bike.

So what I suggest is get an appointment at SK Bajaj and get your bike checked once, and see what they have to say. If not... last resort is Pune.... and am sure ur issues will be sorted out at that SC.

            • ^^^ Harsh = vibes in my case and after long ride the vibes can be felt even on ur a$$ man
anyways am done with Bajaj SCs, period ! waise bhi my bike is almost 1.5 yrs old now and warranty is for 2 yrs... guess will cause more harm in warranty than without one

Aaj as a temp solution my local mechanic here just cleaned the disc by pourin some petrol donno whether its ok but the noise is gone atleast for now .... will wait n see till next week.
He was sayin ki its a strict NO-NO to rub the disc pads with sand paper. any gyan on this ?

I dont know if that will work (petrol on disc).... but rubbing the disc with sand paper is a serious No-No according to me.... coz why should the disc be rubbed with something rough?? Clean it with a soft cloth... coz its not the disc ka metal roughness... theres something sticky stuck on it (and its not metal for sure), which can be removed by some solvent.... as ur mechanic did... petrol... sounds resonable

Btw.... my balancer shaft loading was not done under warranty.... they charged me around 350 bucks for that..... but it really changed the feel.... I am always happy to ride my bike now

I will also add this.... ur engine carries a warranty of 5 years.... and for the external warranty.... like silencer and all.... u always have insurance right ??

                • ^^^ oops sorry my bad, i was talkin about disc pads and not the disc.
At PB they usually rub the disc pads with sand paper to remove any noise , but my mech said not to do tat, instead his method was using petrol.

any gyan on the balancer shaft loading ?? i mean technically ?

                  • ^^What I know is.... when ur engine works.... it makes vibes naturally.... so engines are equipped with a 'balancer' which generates equal and same intensity vibes but in opposite direction, so as to nullify the engine vibes to a extent. This is achieved by some springs (I think) and stuff.... and if the balancer shaft has some issues (timing and intensity of generating vibes).... then this happens. I maybe wrong.... but then... thats what I know

The balancer shaft is on the right side of the engine (the lower part.... behind the clutch assembly).
