But why? Why so many consecutive posts followed by an exaggerated zeal?Originally posted by Antrikshkethwas View Post

All the best for your mods. Think about it at the basic level, why and what purpose does it serve. Many wannbes screw up their bike and not only that it takes a lot of patience and a lot of money in the first part.
For that you can get good FFE and other electrical upgrades which would be a healthier alternative. But anyways that's my thought.
Cheers!

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
The longer extension is good for the better stability of bike and i guess the speed performance will be better than before but the handling will be worse!
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

I by mistakely posted it.
I would not have such longer extension, I just want a little longer extension for the better stability.

Electrical upgrades like green red blue pilot lamps or HID headlamps which irritates the guy on the other lane. Or those angel light craps?
The stability will be better with longer extension that's it.my youtube channel

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Angel lights in my opinion is always crap, if it's way too osetentatious. They are really cool when done properly without too much dark colored ambient lighting. A simple angel eye with the stock setup is perfectly fine. And it attracts some attention too. But over do it and it's a mess, personally.Originally posted by Antrikshkethwas View PostElectrical upgrades like green red blue pilot lamps or HID headlamps which irritates the guy on the other lane. Reliable services for my Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
I am a proud owner of Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi and bought it in Nov 2007...ohh, I wish I write the previous line time and again for few more years to come.
The bike enthusiast city b'lore added fuel to my burning desires to buy this hottie and ofcourse I was happy till Aug 2011 when I had to shift to New Delhi(South) - a city where street dogs get all the luxurious cars for their night stay. In a nutshell, this place has no respect for automobiles - be it a car or a bike. Not to offend the true delhites.
Since then my bike has been facing so many troubles. I had replaced the normal spark plugs with Iridium Spark Plugs and also replaced the stock air filter with K&N air filter(R 1100). These're considered some simple modifications you can opt for in a place like B'lore. I got it serviced in the probiking center in gurgaon as suggested by one of my friend at workplace, believe me they screwed it a bit more. Fuel-injectors are blocked, K&N filters seem to be my biggest fault now and brakes don't know what they're meant for - all is (not) well.
In short, I'd appreciate if my biker buddies help me out to find the best place to get my bike serviced. I want it to relive it's golden days before it rests in a shed.
Kindly help me asap, I can't see it choking to death.
Thanks buddies,
Ride safe but don't save rides...

For starters, dump the KnN and go back to stock filter!Originally posted by View PostI can't see it choking to death.

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
This is the second time my bike stopped working
First time was, when the bike was kept idle for more than two weeks without draining the fuel. The fuel pump clogged and bike became. I live in a small town and the Bajaj people here know nothing about the bike (Bajaj mechanic was once searching for carburator to tune my Fi bike for better efficiency). So, I drained the fuel and took out the fuel pump. Took it to a mechanic friend and we searched the whole city for fuel pump. He was planning to put a car's pump in my bike but thankfully we got nothing. Then he connected my fuel pump to battery and took out a steel ruler and started beating the pump. After coughing the petrol dust the pump started working and still running fine.
Now the second time. Life was going good but then the accelarator wire started causing problems. Sometimes when I turned the handle-bar at standstill, the bike would revv up and people start looking at me like i'm growling at them. Then at home I took out the accelarator wire from where it is planted below the tank, oiled and gave support to the place where the outer covering was teared.
I was very happy but when I started the bike revved to 8000 rpm then adjusted the wire and tried to idle it @1500rpm by the screw in the picture but now the engine switch off's when the rpm goes below 3000rpm. Tried everything but the problem is still there. I tried to ride the bike by keep revving above 3000rpm but it is giving jerks I ride below 5500 rpm or 75 kmph.
I am feeling helpless.
I am planning to put a carburator on my bike. I have got some details for another forum.
It would require:
Carburator Assembly of Avenger 220 - 2418
Manifold (JM) - 94
Carburator Insulator - 43.50
Total Spare Cost = 2556
I got this details from
Pulsar 220: FI to Carb conversion? - Page 2 - Team-BHP

if any one has id on team-bhp please ask sathish for his fb id and tell me. Mine is awaiting moderation.Pulsar 220 Fi (2008) 28k km

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Looks like your fuel pump is kaput. That thing you did with running the fuel pump with the battery alone to drain it out is what may have burnt the fuel pump.Originally posted by sandwichk View PostThis is the second time my bike stopped working
Carb conversion is not as simple as just putting a Carb, you need put in a CDI as well which again costs about 3K IIRC. Plus there are quite few more things that need to go in, last time I checked PBK was quoting about 10K for carb conversion and a local mech I know said he can do it in 7K.
All in all, it will still be more expensive than replacing the fuel pump which is for 3.5K.
But getting a fuel pump is BIG challenge!_________________________

After the episode of fuel pump my bike had run perfectly for a year.Originally posted by Praful View PostLooks like your fuel pump is kaput. That thing you did with running the fuel pump with the battery alone to drain it out is what may have burnt the fuel pump.

The new problem has occurred after I played with the accelerator wire. Maybe the bike needs to get tuned through the computer.
The bike is making problem only at low RPM, above 4000 it runs perfect.Pulsar 220 Fi (2008) 28k km
