    Ghanta Guru

I would say the over heat sensor on the cylinder block is the culprit if you have not changed it for a few years.

      LOL!!

Never ever changed it. 81000 kms now. So nothing much to worry then, right? My engine is not ACTUALLY heating up. I sensed some sensor has gone kaput when after keeping the bike idle for 2-3 minutes in Delhi winter, it started blinking as soon as I revved the bike!! It was close to 16 Degrees then!!

Then in all probability its your sensor. Mine went kaput somewhere around 70K

        • Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi

Forgot to update here. My speedo console had conked off a few months back at 94.5K kms. I did keep riding my bike because for twisted reason I should have got a free console, but some how that did not work out in my favour

So some weeks back I got a new console, unlike what I had planned earlier I did not have the meter reading set to the approx number of kms I have covered.

Instead I just assume the new console was fixed when my bike crossed 1L kms. So on my new odo I've done 4K kms, even if my assumption of 1L kms is off it would be at the most be off target by maximum of 1K kms.

So after so much story telling, just wanted to update that my bike as of today is at 1.04L Kms

Pic taken last Sunday whilst I was on my way from Mumbai to Bangalore. Bike held up pretty well during the 1050kms "commute"

Yeah many have shifted to Duke remember they were the same persons who invested in tech advanced fastest machine back then in 2007 !
              Update
              Crossed 38000km .
Speedo meter started malfunctioning its like showingad figures reducing speed once i step on brake shows 40 next sec 0 aftr coming to halt again climbs to 10.
Will the whole meter will fail? Or just a cable?

And why bajaj is unable to supply fuel filter?worried
Also the top speed achieved so far is 120kmph with pillion .
As of today no fi problem

              • Bike starting automatically!!!!

Today went to an petrol pump tried to kill the engine but instead of stopping it started to crank again .I got scared and the petrol attendant told me to put in neutral but I couldn't and tried everything in vain like pressing engine kill switch harder ,pulling the starter switch etc later I left the bunk unable to stop.Rode some distance and tried ro stall in vain.Later pulled tge KEY OUT still it was cranking and diaplay was on.but once i switched to neutral it stopped .And now speedo is only showing zero .so i thought of taking a pic before it goes out .rpm meter also sometimes bot working .What is the cost of a new one? Shall i source it from pudupet( bike spare area in chennai) because i am unble to afford company spares as of now .38000 km in odo so 15000 km done in 10.5 month ( i bought it 23k). I dont feel a reason to upgrade because this gives a complete package but feared of repairs

UPDATE I figured out the relay problem.Went to pbk they told that they are not sure whether its relay or some controller and told to leave the bike But since I didn't have time to leave at pbk I returned .For speedo they said whether its worm gear or magneto or may be sensor and will change them while I change relay this weekend .For carb conversion a new KTM showroom near my house agreed to finish the job under 5k if I bring them a carb fuel tank.

                • Changed my front fork springs. Boy oh boy, did that make a difference. The front stands a bit taller now, could immediately feel it the moment I sat on the bike after the change.

Its handles bad roads and road undulations way better now. Now I just need some better rubber for the front and hoping for a miracle to source the Sirac for the rear again.

WTH! Which machine's springs did you swap, bud? And used the same fork oil, and how is the suspy softer or stiffer, any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

                    Cheers!

                    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

So a thicker grade I presume. And lots of things were running on my mind with the fork spring, did you change the rebound spring, inner rod, etc etc. Phew! Just the HOIL. Which brand and grade?

                        Cheers!

Chillax dude. Since you mentioned new oil, I thought of a different thicker grade, not my mistake you know you should have elaborated correctly. Anyways glad to see the new springers for good. Don't blame me, I am hardwired to think different.

Regarding the front shocker... a little update from my end.
In Aug, I went for a bike trip with wife to Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj. There was a stretch in Punjab where the road was in horrible condition. My bike went through few deep potholes and took a good beating. Now, a week ago I went for a short trip to Dehradun. Few days before the ride I noticed a bent in the front shocker which resulted in messed up wheel alignment. I still decided to do the trip and get this issue rectified once back in Delhi. But as luck had it, the HORRIBLE U.P. roads messed up things big time and once I reached the guesthouse in Ddn, I noticed fork oil leaking from the RHS. Next day took it to a local shop as PBK was closed (Closed on Saturday!!, only PBK in Ddn). Got the shockers repaired. The RHS shocker road had a good bend. He advised me to get the roads changed as there are minor scratches on the Rod.

But I must say that 220's front shockers take a HELL lot of abuse before it quits

Apart from being on the softer end, the shockers are very good indeed. But once the rods get scratched or the rod is bent or the tube is bent, it's always a wise idea to change the fork inner set completely. I've had instances where bent tubes weren't that effective even after mended back. Though there wasn't any visible change to the fork, but the fork was dive and rebound was noticeably different. But that's why two cents.

                                Cheers!
