Converting P220Fi to Carb
Hey Guys.
I posted in the Help me section yesterday afternoon. but for some reason its not yet approved so posting it here again.
I have a 2008 Pulsar 220 Fi done about 28K kms, Gives me an average of 42-44 kmpl
In the last 5 months its been really problematic for me & my baby. She runs Smooth & then suddenly give me jerks (like there is no petrol) and then stops... I can't get her to fire back up, i check the Spark Plug Cable & there is no Current. Sometimes fiddling with the fuses & relays does the trick & she starts but sometime nothing i do works & eventually have to call in a tempo service, Load it up & take it to the service center.
This has happened 4 times & has cost me around 2000 bucks just for the tempo services.
I've changed the complete Wiring of my bike, I do regular Servicing & Oil Change, I use Motul 5500 Semi-Synthetic Oil.
I did put any aftermarket electrical's like HID / Engine light etc.. everything is in stock only electricals i have put on her is a Roots Horn & Amaron Battery.
So I want to get rid of this problem permanently without having to sell her.. Is there any way I can Convert the FI to Carb? How Much will that cost? Has it been Done Before?
Hope someone here can help...

Took 1247 Days to reach this! That's 53 Kms/Day average
... And I've hardly been riding in the last 16 months

Jerks n poor throttle repsonse
Hey all,
I've been facing an issue for some time now,
My throttle response has gone down,it seems much "lazier"
The bike doesnt run smooth on lower rpm's,for eg. in 4th gear around 3.5-4.5k rpm the bike keeps jerking now and then, hence a smooth cruise is hard to get.
My bike's and aug 2007 fi,35k kms old
What are the signs of the need to change the throttle body ? and what indicates a busted fuel pump or an injector gone bad?
any ideas? thanks

First and foremost. Neither of the throttle body or fuel pump/injector would fail so early. Unless you've got a lemon...Originally posted by forcooler View PostHey all,

-When was the bike last serviced?
-When were the filters last replaced (Air & Fuel)?
-When was the throttle body last cleaned?_________________________

this might be a dumb question but have you guys heard the sound from a old Honda CB 400.. Its got this lovely tone and a nice boom to it.
So the dumb questions is .... is it possible via an exhaust mod to get a similar sound on our 220 ?sigpic

If you tell this to a PBK SE.. he will be happy to replace what you tell him to, they don't mind checking for the problem.. Instead if you can check & try adjusting the CO setting in addition to what praful said. you can save some bugs..Originally posted by forcooler View PostHey all,

You can get the same sound.... But you need to add 3 more cylinders to your bike...Originally posted by lessgravity View Postthis might be a dumb question but have you guys heard the sound from a old Honda CB 400.. Its got this lovely tone and a nice boom to it.

Actually the reason was not a clogged air filter also. It was a clogged fuel filter. Also my CO was incorrectly set which was not the reason for the problem. My mistakeOriginally posted by gems83 View PostToday the problem was solved. The reason was a clogged air filter. The idiots at the service center had dipped the air filter in lots of waste oil. I cleaned the filter with shampoo and had to remove layers and layers of grime and filth. Now my bike revs like crazy.
As I said since the problem occurred after riding for a km or so and taking the bike to above 6000 rpm I couldnt not properly test it after changing the air filter. The problem reoccured after I tried ripping the bike after a few days.
This time I got the fuel filter cleaned ( the white one which is below the tank) with a pressurised air pump at the service station at Kothrud Probiking Pune. Damn these guys have improved there service
This time I didnt want to take any chances and headed straight away to the bombay pune highway and ripped the bike to make sure whatever fails, fails.
Thankfully the problem was solved after nearly 2 months of head banging and lots of unnecessary part replacements. I neglected the fuel filter because BK auto had replaced it in the earlier servicing and hence I didnot doubt the the fuel filter. Just a note to add. Those guys looking looking to get the CO set through the diagnostic kit in pune for pulsar 220 fi, please head to Sai service Probiking kothrud as they have it with them.

Ok, Thanks for the reply.. Do we need to change the wire connected with it or just the spark plug ?? Is there a specific number or name for the plugs ?? (There's a difference in the 2 plugs , right?)Originally posted by Praful View PostYes sir. I have!
No performance gains. It only lasts 3 times more than stock, thats all!Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..
