Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

      • Hey Guys,
I am looking for a used P220. Got a clue for 2006 P220-fi for 46k. Is it a good deal? Also could anybody help me with the fe figures when the bike is in good condition.

I heard the fe for the P220(Fi) is less than that of the carbed version, is it true?

        • Hello Guys!

That feels Good. Real good! Damn it's been a while since I've checked in here. Weirdly, it's also been a while since I've waved at a fellow 220-Fi-ian on the road.

I have a doubt, and I sure would appreciate your help. When you turn on the ignition, you hear the fuel pump priming right? After the diagnostic self check the sound stops, and then I start the bike. Now, is it normal for this sound to to come back on after ignition? The fuel pump is after all continuing to work, so it should be normal, but I somehow do not seem to remember hearing the sound after ignition all these years.

This might just be one of those things you get used to and hence never gave second thought to, but I just wanted to be sure

Priming post ignition is to build pressure in the line so the bike can be started. Thats why once pressure is built it cuts off, but once the engine is running it needs the fuel to be pressurized continuously. Hence it keeps running!

Welcome Back Where were you all these days?

2006.?? I thought it was launched in 2007... Anyway the Dts-Fi has more fe than dts-i... Thats for sure unless you are a ripper...

              • It finally happened. My dreams of running the stock engine till 1L kms went down the drain!

Had to take a call to change the bore-piston now at 68K or continue as it is. Would have resulted in oil drinking had I continued like this. Decided that its best to get it replaced

EDIT: Please note it is not necessary that the bore-piston kit needs replacement at 60-70K. This happened to me as a one off case as there was some issue that had happened during De-Carbing the engine at 30K kms. Since then I've avoided touching the bore-piston, but given the way I ride my bike hard. This had to come sooner than later.

                  Damn!!

After how much kms does the bike demands oil change?

If it's in the region of 1.2-1.5k kms then you can go ahead with the ride and keep a can handy!!

                        Additional piece of information!

The new bore-piston kits come with the similar graphite coating of the P220 Dts-i. So apparently this bore should last longer

PS: The bore-piston kit costs lesser than the wiring harness

Weird that i noticed this after all these years too.. however i only hear this when i turn on the headlights (after the diagnostic checks). I ignored it, thinking i was too excited about the bike

@Praful: I know you have been around all this time, so i should welcome myself after a long time
