500 Kms should be OK! Even during this running in you can ride the bike normally, just don't exceed 6K RPM!
Just hope that rings replacement fixes the oil drinking problem. If it does not you might need to replace the bore!_________________________

Praful one more question since you have got your silencer replaced 2-3 time i guess what was the exact cause of the problem?
My bike is running on the 2nd exhaust, first one replaced due to accident.
The exhaust starts to rattle very badly after i ride for 2-3 kms say at 70-80 kmph for sumtime and then keeps on rattling until i switch off the engine for sumtime.
Its like when it is cool it does not rattle but when i ride hard for few kms the loud rattling starts. Showed it to PBK but since the exahust had become cool it didnt rattle and they couldnt help me..Last edited by AashishS; 05-09-2011, 12:17 AM.sigpic

.everythin was fyn until one day my frnd took my babe out.i dnt know wat happened bt he said d byk stopped.well i took it to a local mech in kengeri satellite town.d ass tuned my bike in a way dat i was loosin out power.i couldnt rev lyk i used to.den another mech said "air chod rahi hain" sumthin to do wid air.he tuned it again.d revin improved bt i lost out on my top speed.i went till 137 on my bike.now after 110-120 it juz gives up.as if its tired.wats wrong wid my bike n where do i get d doc?i dnt trust khivraj coz first service i felt dey juz washed it
.suggest any gud mechanic who can treat her good.
i bought my bike last year in june.last readin i saw was 12723 km. am i ridin too much??
.should i change my tyre?

Don't ask how and why 
Usually the internal welds of the silencer break off and coz the internal pipe to rattle about. Rip all the way to PBK to show them the problem with your bike

Show your bike to the Bajaj Pro-Biking they are your best bet, change your tyres if they are worn out already though 12K is too early for that!

I am not great.. The great bajaj and their amazing quality is the result of this. Twice it was replaced under warranty, thrice due to falls, and the other 2 times because warranty was not there but the silence was damaged anyways...7th Exhaust Guruji tusi great ho

AutoService is one the best Bajaj PBK's out there. I've been their customer for the last 3.5 years

Well the exhaust is the only part thats weak. The newer lot of exhaust are much much better, I haven't changed mine in the past 1.5 years
Before you go the Joel way, ensure that your bike is already in top shape._________________________

Actualy not planning to go for the stock this time because its been 4 yrs now since i got this bike, mine is from the first batch of P200's (Apr'07 lot). I am slowly getting bored from my bike so thought FFE would add some lost charm to it. But as you said i need to address the other issues first so thats the priority as of now.
Till then the rattling from the silencer will make each ride memorable
People stare when i ride!

Piston Rings replaced today @ 31,000kms (P200's)
Cost as follows (for New Delhi Only):
Ring Set Piston: Rs.210/-
Gasket Cylinder:Rs.63/- (Quantity-1)
Gasket Cylinder:Rs.20/- (Quantity-2)
Valve Kit (inlet): Rs.243/-
Labour Charges:Rs.350/-
Total Cost: Rs.886/- + taxes
Thought of sharig the Rates, it might help others who are planing to get the Piston Rings replaced
Bike is running very smooth right now, Compression is also back to normal @ 12.5

. I went to PBK here in Pune a couple of days back and those guys were telling me "We don't change piston rings here! We have never changed Piston rings here. We always change entire block piston set. But if you want, we will do it for you."
They didn't have the rings though... placed an order for the same. Hopefully the rings will be here in 3 more days. Currently on 30572km. Did a Pune - Mumbai - Pune ride yesterday with pillion.. Could feel it become increasingly sluggish especially in the low revs.. Maybe that could be attributed *somewhat* to the Sirac.. but still I could actually feel the sluggishness.. never before has the bike behaved like this. Even the FE was a low 31 with me riding strictly in the 80-105 range.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Try another PBK if they are refusing you. It might be becasue they didnt have stock of rings. Changing rings is not a very tough job but requries a traiined and experienced mechanic.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostThanks bro.. that was a big big help..
