Niks_Devil sez it could be the timing chain.. I need a little help here..
Does the svc put the white thingy along with the engine oil in your bike?
sometimes noise also comes because of mixture being too lean.

Usually the sparkplugs make a constant Kirrrr sounds that's the Dtsi noise that's always there.

Timing chain would be doubtful, as its a pretty good quality part and does not fail that easily.I'm still on stock timing chain!
I disagree. Timing chain is a common problem with Pulsar 220's in general especially when they put that white nano-technology shit thing along with the engine oil at the service station. I have seen so many 220's and even eliminator's with faulty timing chain. I think the white additive gets into the links of the chain and destroys it

    • Err.. Why put the Nano-Technology shit in the first place!

Do not put an additives. Btw NCR Pbks are the only ones so far who have reported any issues with timing chain. Any other places the issues are far lesser.

unfortunately they did put the bardahl shit in my 300v... I guess i need to change the oil asap.. good thing that the oil has already run 6k... (800 with the bardahl shit)...
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I myself do not know why pbk guys put it in the first place. When I ask them, they are like 'Theek rehta hai' 'Engine friction kam hota hai' and some shit like that. The only reason I can think of is probably high margin in selling that stuff. or maybe a way to sell more timing chains !
As for the bike woner's, many think that it might be essential. I have myself prevented a few people from getting it.

          • Engine oils in themselves are pretty good, more so if one using a oil like Motul which has enough detergents to keep things clean.

its better than the stock front and the FZ front too .

performs well in both dry and wet . but bad in gravel or off roads

my 220 runs with R15 front and sirac rear .

i think this is the best combo for any day riding conditions

                • Nope. Better than that combo is the IRC Wildflare 90/90 front with Sirac Work good in *all* conditions.

Broke my bike's gear 'dog' sometime. Realised only when the oil was being drained.

Bike kept running without any issues as the other 4 'dogs' were still intact and holding the gear in place.

Before anyone jumps and starts posting stuff about quality niggles, I just wanna say I'm amazed the engine has held so well for the past 60K kms with my kind of abusive riding...

20K you broke it! Did you downshift while going down hill?

5th..Did you say 5th! Damn! Usually its the 1-2-3 gears which can break this coz they are relatively more stressed out.

You can still ride the bike if only *one* of the dog teeth came out in the oil, but it is recommended that you replace your 4th and 5th gear ASAP.

And yea this will cost you, try and see if you can claim 5 year engine warranty for it!
