I will post the pics of that filter later... His bike is P220 DTS-Fi.. He has been using it for the past 6 months... Will it cause any trouble..? I'm already using an R1100 in my bike,,, I would really like to boost my performance.. Any thought on this will be appreciated.... Thank you...
P220dtsfi perform well only if the air_fuel mixture in a specific air_fuel ratio. Entering too much air in the combust chamber won't do any improvement in the top end. it is related to other factors like gear ratio, design of the bike etc....yeah..acceleration feels better, nice sound and you will see 150 kmph often but check radar test and find the truth The same R1100 is using my bike too.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the seat.

I have cancelled the installation. It would only be a waste of money...Gonna continue with R1100. Anyway, thanks for your tips...

If someone could please tell me if these are good and if there are any other options, where do I buy them in south Bombay and how much would the set cost...

          • Chain Sprocket question

            Hi,

            I own a P220 dtsfi.

Its time to replace my chain sprocket now and I was just wondering how a worn out chain sprocket really affects the bike,as in,How would the feel of the bike change when i put in a new chain sprocket ??

Plus I have a Sirac installed, does a heavier tyre take more of a toll on the sprocket?

And can a worn out sprocket have anything to do with a slightly sluggish throttl respnonse and acceleration at higher speeds(90-115 for eg.) ?

Thanks in advance for ALL the questions :-)

            • hi guys ... i have a Pulsar 220 Carb Version still i am posting here because i believe i will get better responses here if compared to 220 F thread.. So here it goes ...
i washed my bike two days ago and after washing when i cranked it didn't come to life ... i checked fuse but it was ok ... i checked whether the carburettor is intact and it didn't fall off like before but it was too in place. Then after few niggy wiggy checks i found that water entered the carburettor as the tank water drain hole was blocked . I drained all the water from the carb pipes and it started ... but after riding for few kilometers i found that the bike is taking gaps in low revs as in the petrol is not entering the carb ... so i again removed the pipe and fitted it back and it became normal but only for few kms.... as it is again taking gaps and stalling !
Should i need to get the tank cleaned from inside or ride it like this and problem will vanish on its own ?
Second , is it harmful for the engine if i am riding like this ?
              Please Help !

to ensure complete removal of water, you need to remove the carb base and the tank . also fill atleast 60% of fuel in order to minimize moisture condensation .

Go get yourself the new sprocket set. Note that the sprocket teeth are different for the Fi and the Dtsi. Throw anything near the 220's rear wheels and the torque will make mince meat out of it. the Sirac is the best choice next to stock IMO.

My sprockets are worn.yet they still have a life of another 3-4k. they constantly remind u that they arent doing good with a TUK TUK TUK noise. happens once every rotation, but fades out post 60kmph. The sirac will reduce acceleration a little but the journey till 125kmph will be very stress less. worn out sprockets will definitely not make any difference to speeds but it will eat into other functioning parts like the front sprocket and chances of chain slippage or chain link breakage is more.

                  ahem..
Clean the tank completely, drain out all the liquid gold, discard adulterated fuel, top up with fresh fuel. It will not create problems but u dont want unexpected stalling while overtaking or tight spots.
Pressurized air at the SVC will clear the clog in the drain pipe. maintain good hygiene by clearing bird droppings and dust anywhere near the fuel cap to prevent this issue.

Dude even i had the same issue, now for a day or two my bike use to stall once or twice a day and this happened only for two days after which i realised that the pipe is blocked. so i cleaned it and also when the bike was stalling like as if there is no petrol at that time i reved my bike from 6-8k rpm and after which bike became normal and well i dont think that would result in engine harm. I mean its not always that your tank gets mixed with water and petrol, and i believe this must hve happened once on your bike so you dont have to worry because if i tell you with my experience nothing happened to my bike nd its working fine nd performing good like always. Besides this i read somewhere you remoeved petrol and water from carburettor i didnt even do that yet the bike is fine.

And very well said. 220fi owners have more knowledge than 220dtsi people. And on 220 dtsi thread no one bothers to reply.

                    • Get the tank cleaned from inside asap... I had a similar problem with water entering the tank... although mine is an FI so I got a few hiccups and then things sorted themselved out... But a year later I had to get my tank and my fuel pump replaced as the tank got rusted from inside and the rust got collected in the pump... My pump was a bronze gold colour when they removed it to change it...

Get you tank cleaned, top it to the brim and add a teaspoon of ghee to the fuel tank... The ghee will stick to the inside of the tank... It is a preventive measure so that your tank doesnt get affected due to the water going in...

                      • Important: Regarding weird throttle response

                        Hi Brothers,
Hope you have been doing fine all these days. Now, I have a very important knowledge to share about the problem I have been facing for quite some time now.
I have been getting very poor, unreliable throttle response while riding my bike in 2nd & 3rd gear at 2 to 3k rpm. The bike would jump to life after few milliseconds of throttle input during the above mentioned condition. Also, the bike had stalled 2-3 times, but not more than that. Had the fuel filter replaced, air filter replaced, had spark plug changed but the irritating problem lingered on. Got it checked from Dayaram ji, one of the senior most technician in Bagga. He had initially felt the very same problem but after changing the spark plug, he, it seems to have not noticed it.
So, I went back this time to trusted Manohar of Okhla PBK. They got the timing checked, injector cleaned, throttle body cleaned , fual tank cleaned & am happy to report that the problem has resolved to my satisfaction.
                        Parts detail

                        Cap Injector - Rs 8.09
Fuel Filter T Type Rs 45.33

It's imperative that the PBK guys listen to your problem & understands it as they do have th resources & ability to rectify the problem.
I can be reached at 9999700592 for any clarification as I know few of my 220 Fi brothers were facing the same problem.

                        • Help

                          Brothers. please help.. I have a 27k run 2009 P220 DTSi

Some of you might remember I had enquired about a kat-kat noise from the crankcase region. It turned out that it was nothing and PBK people just opened up everything and fit it back and everything seemed good. I went back to my normal (read: Hard) riding. Now we have a serious issue. I was on my way to lucknow, when.. just as a precaution, I decided to get the oil level checked (700km into the ride). I entered a normal Bajaj service center in whatever town I was.. and.. as it was just 9.30 AM.. they attended to me immediately. I told them to check engine-oil level. So we waited 10 min for the bike to cool off and checked the level and found it to be low. So, the service guy topped it up with DTSi 10000 20w50 oil. Turns out... the oil level was 400odd ml below required. This happened 9 days back. The bike was relatively idle for the subsequent 7 days.

Yesterday I decided to check oil level again(1100 km since last top-up).. it was low again. So I decided it would be best that I change the oil itself(As the 300v inside was over 5k old). Since it was consuming oil... i felt it was (financially) unwise to refill 300v immediately.. so I took it to PBK Nasik.. and got a fresh change to DTSi 10000.(This was also done within 15 minutes.) We checked the quantity of drained oil at PBK.. and turns out.. that the bike has lost another 400ml in the last 1100km. I have done 300more km since yesterday's oil change and the oil level as of now seemed alright.

What I fail to understand is the reason for such heavy oil loss. There are no visible oil leaks. I cannot smell burnt oil on any of my rides (not even on the day I did 1168km in 22 hours)(the oil top-up was 650odd km into <- this day). And, there is no smoke coming from the exhaust. I am unable to find time to take it to PBK Pune.. but I know I will have to do it for any solution. What I intend to know from here is what could be the possible reason for such unusual behaviour from the bike. This is the first time I am experiencing any kind of oil level drops in my 1.5 years of ownership.

Also, please suggest alternate battery. The battery has also died. It is unable to hold a charge overnight so I am currently reduced to compulsary dhakka starts in the morning. The replacement Exide battery has a warranty of just 15 months . Do I have any other options (preferably with Amaron?) with better warranty? The Nasik dealer quoted me a price of Rs.1780(minus 80 for old battery) for the Exide (bikerz series) battery.

                          • 1. Oil Leaks: Move away from the Bajaj oil ASAP. I am hearing from a couple of people regarding oil drinking issue with this oil. For now move to either Valvoline Premium 4T or Motul 5100T. The second part of oil drinking is engine, I had assumed that Bajaj would have improved with time, but I guess its just not their way of doing things .
I recommend that you get the piston rings changed, at the time of replacing the rings ask them to check the cylinder walls for scoring if any. This is not covered under warranty. And its just good to get the rings replaced at 30K kms to arrest any such issues that might happen.
Oil drinking is a common issue with Pulsars, they are yet to get their Metallurgy right! And happens more with people who riding hard and long! City users are less likely to face this issue.

                            2. Battery: I've had enough of Exide. Tried it for the first two times and now I am finally on Amaron. So far so good, would recommend Amaron over Exide, cost is IIRC 1.5-1.7K!
