    • I mean, use diesel for cleaning purpose out side body of the engine.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the seat.

        • Ok.. I need some opinions and advice here.

My bike has done close to 41k km (Sep 07)
Currently, the rear tyre is due for a change and i would be changing the front tyres too to get it ready for a big ride i am planning. Cost ~ 4.5k
The clutch plates have lasted as long as they can. 41k is decent in my opinion. Day before yesterday i was taking it up to Nainital and definitely felt poor response from the throttle. Cost ~ 2k
Electrical Issues: There is some problem of current leakage or some kind of shorting. Every few hundred kms there as white deposits on the relay near the battery and the bike stutters and almost dies unless i clean it up. Also, i can't ride in the rain anymore. The gurgaon probiking guy says, replace it. I too am inclined to do that. Problem: 220Fi wiring series is XXX62. The probiking doesn't have it and wants to experiment with the DtSi wiring set up. I am not sure if this damages something. The 62 series part will not be available for sometime.
Anyways, the tentative cost ~ 2.5k

I am looking at a total cost of 10k.

I have the budget required for the CBR 250R. But i love my 220 to nuts and would want to do my first ride to Leh on it. Also, buying a cbr might not make good financial sense right now as i am not sure i will be in the country next year ~ tentative.

Question is: Should i sell it off and buy something else, say a new Dtsi ? What kind of resale can i get. I am pessimist and dont think anyone will give more than 35 for it :-P
Or, should i keep it and hope nothing else goes wrong :-)
Also, has someone else faced this electrical issue or is running his Fi bike on Dtsi wiring set up ?

Yea would get about 35-45 depending how foolish a buyer you get!

I suggest, keep it, fix it, ride it! Cheaper that way!

About the electrical part, I'm not sure which part you are planning on changing, if its anything common between the Dts-i and Fi there shouldn't be an issue with changing it.

Heard that there were some electrical issues with 2007 model P220.AFIK you will definitely get the 220fi wiring series from Bajaj. They are held responsible for this. And hope you will under the 5 year warranty but ask about the wiring. So why can't email your query to Bajaj customer care? You need a gud mechanic from PBK to solve the other problems,ie valve clearence, fuel filter replacement, engine and injector flush, fuel ratio adjust,Air filter replacement, chain sprocket check and cluch reload etc. I am damn sure the Bike will be alright after the complete check up. So why you investing extra 1.5 for a new bike?

              • Guys, what set of tyres are best on the P220, as you all might have experienced some or the other? I still run on the stock MRF Zapper... Another q is, can I change to 130x80 - 17'' tubeless, for the rear wheel? Idea is for extra grip...do post your thoughts...

5 year warranty is limited only to engine, even the clutch/transmission is covered under that!

What kind of riding conditions do you have? What is the tarmac like that you are riding on. 130/80 might not give extra grip, just coz its a 130 profile does not mean the contact patch will increase.

Vyde is not that great on wet roads! But on dry its a superb tyre, even for cornering its a damn good tyre.

The Sirac is well just better in all respects. The drop in accleration is not so much, you will not even notice it, unless you drag your bike with another 220 which is running on stock tyres!

How long does the stock rear tyre lasts?? under mixed type of driving conditions my beast completed 19k kms so is it compulsary to change the rear tyre?

                          • I changed my stock tyres at 25K kms. Only once the tread wears off or the tyre becomes more than 4 years old you should think about changing the tyres!

                            • @Praful: dude, little more reasoning on that fact, would be more helpful...I mean, 130x80, wouldn't give more contact patch, as u said, but why is that opinion?
