Guys please help me here. My 220 needs a new rear tyre. I was looking at Michelin Sirac but realized it is available in 120/90 -17 and not the stock P220 size of 120/80 -17. Is it a direct fit? If not, what modifications will be required?
More importantly, what other options do I have apart from the Stock MRFs and Sirac? I would like to use the bike for touring purposes. Stock MRF tyre stood good for 18.5k km with 70% touring.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The Sirac fits without any mods whatsoever. Only thing is your bike will be slower in acceleration by a bit, but mileage smoothness, topspeed will improve. Grip is way better than MRF's too.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostGuys please help me here. My 220 needs a new rear tyre. But, for the 220 Dts-i I would not recommend as it is already a taller geared bike. With Fi because the mid-range is stronger the drop in accelration is not very apparent.
But
, the Sirac is the best *touring* tyre out there for the 220.
Among other options, the MRF Zapper Vyde is a fantastic tyre. There three different options from IRC as well (Wildflare, RX01 VRM something) which are good tyres too and better than the IRC that come on todays 220's...
Finally got my bike back.... Phew long wait is over... Another wait to run it in...

Problem with 100+ speeds
Hey all,
My bike(220fi Aug 2007 27k kms) accelerates wells upto about 95-99..but above that, pretty slowly compared to before.I've also lost some top end.
It also seems to have lost a little of the "bite" while accelerating, its like i have to make the bike work harder than before while accelerating.
I was wonderin if it was the CO which was affecting it.I got it adjusted today. It felt good for the first few kms but then it was back in the same conditon.
Could there another solution? or maybe an error in CO again, coz the engine was hot while adjusting. Is the engine supposed to be cool for proper CO adjustment.
Thanks in advance.

Well, it all depends on certain factors. How good u've maintained ur bike. 1)When was the last time it was serviced ?
2) At what rpm's do u shift gears ? u cannot cruise at 80 and then expect ur bike to hit 135 on the speedometer as and when u want. it needs to build the momentum from the lower revs, constantly upwards.
3) are u maintaining proper tire pressure ? how good are ur tires ?
4) co tuning can affect the bike a lot if not done well. the exact tuning or perfect tuning is never achieved. i did several stops at the service centre to get a proper tune.
5) the bike has to reach an optimum temperature for the Co tuning to be done.My BiKe DoEsN't LeAk OiL, iT mArK's ItS TeRriToRy !

The bike's been maintained well, serviced regularly n all that,
got it serviced yest and then checked for the CO etc.
RPM etc while shifting is fine coz its the same i used to do as before. Not crusing at 80 and then goin up.
But yeah if at 80 i open the throttle,it doesnt pull like the way it did before.
tyre pressure is checked,i've got a sirac rear n fz-16's front zappers
I'm thinkin of changin the fuel filter, tho im not sure its that dirty.
any other suggestions?

I own a 2008 pulsar 220 DTS-FI ,it has done 22500 kms ,the problem is that i experience a lot of vibrations once i cross 4000rpm@54 kmph ,and once i cross 6000 rpm @83 kmph the bike vibrates so much that the pillion rider cant keep his foot on rear foot pegs , and the top speed of ma bike is 140 (that time my bike clocked 13000kms and that too the road was a slope and fully crouched posture it actually did 134 on a straight road ) last week when i got my bike serviced and tried hitting top speed but my bike didnt exceed 112@10000rpm in 4 th gear help me guys i am very disappointed with the performance of my bike . what should i do to improve the performance. PARTS CHANGED - fuel filter every 5000kms,air filter every 10000 kms, spark plugs at 22000kms ,oil every 3000-5000 kms (because i use synthetic oil ) , i even changed the steel plates .Last edited by prashanth_probiker; 10-08-2010, 12:22 PM.

change the fuel filter.. That's the most likely cause for that.. You must have put adultered fuel.. Also get a new air filter and get the throttle body cleaned if you're very skeptical..Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostAnother problem occured, today :
The bike is refusing to go above 3K rpm in any gear even at neutral. If I try to go above 3K rpm the engine feels out of petrol and breath.
