Thanks for the the reference. I understood. But, Praful, how did you managed to break that part? It is such a part which can bear alot of load.

This part can break due to part quality, age, wear and tear.

In my case the part is 60K kms and wear and tear is on the higher side considering how hardly I've ridden the bike.

It would not break under standard load conditions!

Well when you carry luggage and still hit rev limiter thru the gears or keep riding the bike with same amount of luggage for anywhere between 300-1000 kms in a day for 2 years then it is outside the scope of standard load conditions.

            • The rear brake of my 220 is making a huge chooooooooooooooooooo.... sound. It's like a whistling noise. When I brake the sound is as loud as the bike's stock horn, so I donot have to use the horn in traffic et all. Could anybody point out the reason?

              • To the P220/200 owners of Bangalore, Why dont we make a common request to Bajaj to make Khivraj Bangalore operational on Sundays also? Its really tough for office going people and students to manage without bikes on weekdays and its really tough for them to drop it to service center during weekdays too. The service center remains closed on national holidays also(Their showroom is open on sunday, seems like that is a different issue). So please join the cause and bombard Bajaj Customer Care with your emails and make it convenient for we owners.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow! What a Ride!"

Disc assembly has to b cleaned. The brake pads have got glazed. The rear disc will make some kind of a sound all the time. I clean mine every 200kms. first few kms the rear disc will just be there to assure u that its there. after 100kms of cleaning, it starts biting. but the bite isnt there for too long.

Cleaned 3 times, but still the chooooo... sound when brakes are applied persists with same intensity, look like the disc pads change will only fade the problem away.

Why would'nt it have that? I donot see any reason. O-Rings are made to last under open conditions? Then what's the reason of such a question arising?

                          Yes its does!

@abhi: There is no known solution for your prob... I know a couple of bikes which even after a few months of trying refuse to let this issue be resolved.

I was going through a review by Bike Advice which says one of the drawbacks of P220 is the exposed chain that needs a lot of maintenance. So just wanted to confirm.

My 220 is from one of the very first batches of 2007. So, I think that alongwith this problem a bunch of others will remain for lifetime.

Exposed chain do need maintenance, it is correct. The frequency of cleaning depends on the weather conditions and sorroundings in which a bike is ridden. Like under muddy conditions the maintenance interval should be more frequent. But, under everyday every place conditions the chains should be cleaned once atleast a 500kms. That's what I do.
