Did you ever experience or come across a CRACKED DISC CALIPER? My Front CALIPER CRACKED today!!!

It all started when i was riding today morning. After about 5kms the front brake started becoming spongy then after sometime TOTALLY died! When i stopped to see what happened, the disc had become black in color and smoke was coming from the caliper. I took easy thinking some oil fell on the disc and got burnt and went on without using front brake. Later started using the front brake and it was fine but somehow it was feeling very sharp. After coming home was checking out the brakes only to see the Caliper cracked at the point of the inner treads of the bleeder nut.

Lets see what pbk has to say for this.

My FI completes its 2nd year with this november till now i didnt faced any major problems in my bike except fairing noise and fairing vibrations. few days back my bikes pickup had reduced but after cleaning the airfilter and changing the fuel filter my bike is very fine now it can touch speeds 130+ pretty easily rescently did 137km on my bike my friend who is lighter than me clocked 140km.
My bike is complete stock the only things i changed in my bike is NGK spark plugs & Motul 300v engine oil no major parts are changed in my bike till now
Engine refinement is smooth no harsh sounds from the engine & no drop in the performance
iam getting the mileage around 37 but the bad thing i dont like in the 220 is the RVM'S they are pretty useless.
iam very much satisfied with my black beast.
Thanks to the FI Tech my bike starts in the first startup no cold start problems earlier my bikes engine was getting shutdown once in a day but that thing was rectified with the correct CO settings.

Just take care of ur beast it will keep smile on ur face every time u ride.

anyone using the ceat tyre kindly put a brief review.

One suggestion.. dont go for it !!!.. u will simply have no grip on surfaces. if u want to still give it a try, u may.

did u get a engine de carbonizing ob done lately ?
here are few tips for u,

get ur fuel and air filter checked for clogs.
get the fuel injector checked and replaced if necessary.
check if ur sprockets are worn out.
get the Air fuel ratio set.
unless the proper recommended proportion is met, u will always have the feel of loss in power.
check ur tire treads if they are worn out.

nope never heard of the caliper breaking. it is pressing against the pads perpendicularly. no fatigue involved when so(or least stress involved)..maybe it was time for it to give up..

My ride is 57000Kms old. It does 132 without crouching, gives 32-38Kmpl, does a 0-60 in 3.8 secs.... Does that answer your question?

              Whoa!

This is absolutely a first!!! Was anything done on the caliper assembly recently? There is not enough force on the caliper to crack its, this could have happened due to an external impact!

              Any pictures?

Sounds like a dead/dying battery. Push start worked right?

HH claimed 3.8 secs in 2003 for Karizma, wonder what are they claiming for Hayabusa plastic replica and seems you have beat bajaj's claim of 0-60 for P-220 dts-i too

I guess praful is mentioning about Dyno timing's
If that is dyno result, then dtsi does 0-60 in 2.7 secs on the same dyno where praful would have run (Auto Service)

If its real timings, I've to do something to his bike

Would have been a bit faster if I wasn't running on my 'touring' tyre

Those figures are quoted from the Roller Bench in the Bajaj Probiking service centre.

Praful I think its not about the battery. Coz bike started and moved till 100mtrs and suddenly stalled.
but on the other hand, the crank is working but the bike aint starting.

                            Anything apart from this

Usually when the battery is very low on juice it behaves like this. The starter motors cranks but you will hear only a whirring sound.

Did the bike start with a button start and then stall?

yea the bike did start with button...went till 100mtrs till the bike stalled. Although I havent tried push start, but any other fault could be there?
