Its scrapes, get used to it . Let me know what speed does your bike do at 6K RPM in 5th gear now.

After 98K kms something other than the pads are being changed for the rear brakes. And my second front disc....

Talking about disk pads. I will upload a pic of my bikes rear disk pad i got changed a few days ago. I was getting screeching sound of metal contact when applying braked , so assumed it has worn of(pre-maturely) and went to svc to change. I had already bought the spare before. When the guy oped the assembly he said there is more than enough pad material left on it. I was skeptical, i told him remove it and let me see and I saw a peculiar wear patter. Will upload it here, the wear amount was tapering off more as we moved down the pad, almost an inclined line. And for some reason the pads had jammed together, which was being show as the brake lever had no free play at all. Now the new pads are working fine, but i am sure the wear pattern will not be even. Something wrong with the brake assembly perhaps ?

They guy removed the pads with difficulty and a little brake fluid did come out, then fitted the new pads, refilled the brake fluid and now the brakes are working fine.

Sounds more like an improper installation.

One pad only seems to be wearing off strangely, Anyways, now fresh new pads have been re-installed. let's see how they wear out. The pads in this pics are now just lying around useless. What a waste.

Giftonsamuel Another thing that you can do is to cut the rubber plug into half. The rubber thing which stops the main stand from crashing into the exhaust. Also the stiffen the daylights of the rear suspension. These two changes ensured that I never scrape anything on my dtsi, don't know if it will work on the Fi as well.

Doing the rubber mod makes the stand make annoying clanking noise on bad roads.

Even running the suspension full stiff scrapes the stand on my bike (which is running the Dts-i suspension)

But my previous main stand I scrapped the hell out of it in MMSC (it became Chanel V shaped ) after which it never scraped again....

Nope, the stand don't make no noise on any road. The rubber is still there. Just cut in half.

That is surprising. I wonder why the Fi is so different from the dtsi. Front forks, chassis?

Maybe in similar fashion I have smashed the stand on sky high speedbreakers (courtesy daft municipality) so many times that now it is bent out of shape or something!!

And Samuel, why not remove the stand!

And Praful is right sometimes if the stand spring is weak it bumps and bangs the stopper which can cause thud sound. But if you CAN remove it and live without it, then you're in for a treat.

If you want even more cornering fun with *limited edition* tires, you can pester Praf.

                            Cheers!

Krishna...its a design flaw of a combined caliper.....in this case by kbx.....the pivot pin for kbx rear disks are above the pads...so they are basically hanging downwards from the pin and the metal spring....therefore since the disk movement is forward...the surface area of the pad gets dissipated downwards due to the force of gravity...with the centrifugal force forward...therefore when both pistons are pushed forward....free-play on the pin is minimum cause of no suspension for the pivot pin(in case of floating calipers like the bybre ones on the new 220...theres a mini suspension...the pin is at the end of the pad...movement forward...so centrifugal force and point of gravity coordinates...therefore keeping the pads flat against the disk).....and the pads...instead of being pushed flat against the disk....are basically pushed against the disk in an inclined position.....more like an inverted "v" ...with the disk in between...therefore reduced disk braking efficiency...and irregular contact...and abnormal heat dissipation..
