Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
woah...burnt clutch plates...sounds dangerous...what are the symptoms of it? truthfully...approx. 20 km per day...so bout 9450 km 365 days after last oil change...even more maybe :P ..truthfully...oil is black...but the oil level indicator shows it above the minimum level...lol...and it was Bajaj syntethic oil that the pbk mechs put.... so id say that Bajaj's oil does keep up to its rep..Originally posted by Praful View Post
I pulled out the rubber...its attached to a plastic holder which has a round holster....the mirror is socketed to this holster...no tightening screw tho....Bajaj mechs tell me that it seems I gotta replace the mirror to get rid of it...now this is silly -.-Originally posted by Praful View PostRide responsibly. Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Bro I got bad news for you, you may be looking at long term engine damage. I've seen too many bikes using the Bajaj oil report this.Originally posted by fernsruben View Postwoah...burnt clutch plates...sounds dangerous...what are the symptoms of it? truthfully...approx. 20 km per day...so bout 9450 km 365 days after last oil change...even more maybe :P ..truthfully...oil is black...but the oil level indicator shows it above the minimum level...lol...and it was Bajaj syntethic oil that the pbk mechs put.... so id say that Bajaj's oil does keep up to its rep..
Will recommend that you drain it ASAP and put in whatever the cheapest oil available, castrol/veedol whatever! For the love of your engine.
If clutch plates are burnt, the bike will not accelerate quickly, wont reach top end, will do lesser speeds at the same RPM.
If there's no tightening screw, then you are screwedOriginally posted by fernsruben View PostI pulled out the rubber...its attached to a plastic holder which has a round holster....the mirror is socketed to this holster...no tightening screw tho....Bajaj mechs tell me that it seems I gotta replace the mirror to get rid of it...now this is silly -.-

You have to replace it, will recommend doing the RTR mirror jugaad._________________________

5th Gear @ 6K RPM with stock tyres bike should be doing 83Kmph!Originally posted by fernsruben View Postwell...seriously???? hmm..but my bike provides great pickup at good speeds....what should be the rpm at say......3rd gear?
I don't remember any of the other speed/RPM reading when my bike was running stock gearing.
About the oil, I'm serious man. Just pour out the old oil and pour in any 20W50 mineral oil. Skip the beer'ing session for this weekend and get some new oil. Oh wait! Aren't you in GA?
... Then you need to skip 3 weekends... LoL

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
A Pulsar 180CC here in my hometown had oil leak from the same spot, and what my mech did was two things. If it's loose you can tighten it, in most cases it's loose. Or else you can anabond sealant, though it's hard, it will be easily removable with little pressure.Originally posted by fernsruben View Postsee the pic...the nut behind the oil cooling radiator...
Third if it leaks persistently, open the valve cap, there is an O-ring inside the bolt, remove that, take it to your nearest spare part shop and show them them size, they might be able to give you, remove the old O-ring with and insert the new one you're all set, no leaks, no hassles.
All this has been done on the very P180.
Now the thing to remember is removing the old O-ring, using a compass to undo the old ring, and insert the new one and press it into the nut with a blunt ended object just so the seal seats properly.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
6k run fi ? A rare find i think.hope the fuel pump is fine with so much idle phase the bike might have been on. Decarb wasn't necessory in my opinion almost no deposit might have been there inless he was a very sedate rider.Originally posted by jethmalani25 View Post

Engine flush would have sufficed.

Hope the owner had not changed the speedometer or played bad with odo cables.

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
there was no issue with fuel pump, even i didnt feel any need of decarb, however i followed suggestion by personnel at srvc, do lemme know if it has any harmful impact on engine as such...anything else that i need to check and i dont think there is any change in odo, if there nas been some fidgiting, i dont think there is any way to figure that out..
noticed two things..a - i guess u guys confusing bike with fi, its carb one... i see i have posted under fi section but i tght it wld have been merged by now.
b _ by four months gap in serv bike was never idle, it has travelled quite a distance.Last edited by jethmalani25; 05-01-2013, 01:34 PM.
