I still feel its a starter motor/clutch issue. But if really the engine has seized and as you said you have recently changed the piston rings, they the SVC center has done something grossly wrong when replacing the rings.

And you should not have smoke coming out of your exhaust, especially after a rings change!
    Err ? I'm confused! ?
Push starting doesn't work. And as he says, there was no smoke.

oil level is on middle of both the markings, minutely nearer to lower mark.
when i thumb the starter and twist the accelerator, the sound comes produced is something of metal is trying to get into a state of motion but is heavily affected by a state of abrasion/friction by another metal pressing against. This sound continues until the bike is on (Normally without pressing the starter switch). Twisting the accelerator worsens the sound and ultimately the engine succumbs unto itself.

    After Effects:

After this was tried 8 times approximately continuing for 2-4 secs of each trial, everything went dead except the electronics, fuel pump and the starter motor except that it was doing only a single 'kat' sound when the starter switch was pressed. The sound resembled to that of a snap of a dry twig.

Btw, I had got the piston rings changed lately.
Due to repeated cranking, the battery now seems to be low.
General query: Did you run-in the bike after the change of piston rings?
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Important to do the running-in. I too got piston ring changed quite some months back. Got new clutch plates, chain set too. Bike is much smoother & I haven't faced this problem. As Praful & others pointed out, if smoke is coming out, then the problem is with the piston. If not, then has to be starter motor.

      • If even push starting is not working then gadbad hai re baba !!

Don't worry even if the engine has seized, new bore-piston kit is not very expensive, I paid 1.6K for it in June last year.

Whoa I didn't know that!! The rate at which Motul has been hiking 300v prices, the day when we have to pay more than the amount in Bold for an oil change is not very far away.. Really astonishing!! No wonder they could afford a 5 year + unltd km warranty. Funny thing here is, most bikes on this thread are still in warranty. My *newer* bike isn't.

Edit: Speaking of warranty, @Utsav your bike is still under warranty isn't it?

If am not wrong it includes only piston, rings & other parts, not the head & the lower part of the engine (Don't remember what's it called), right?

            • Had done run-in after the change of piston rings.

Yea, my bike is under warranty till Oct-2013. Total expenditure incurring in resolution of this problem: 1540INR (Spares) + 200INR(Labor). Just received a call with the details.

Problem was with a bearing behind the magnet. Resulted in blockage and due to that, the gears were wasted.

ah there is no need to be scared or anything just go to the svc and get it checked for any leakage or anything. if u r putting motul then some of the oil does come out and the level goes down after some km have crossed.
Well for a safty use just get it checked asap at the nearest svc.

                        • Weird sound coming from my bike

Hi logged in after ages today. Have finished 49,000 kms in the past 3 and half years on my 220 FI and the bike has been trouble free. But from the past one week there is some weird noise that is coming from the bike.
When i went to get it checked the Service executive said the noise was coming from the silencer and he needs to weld the same was not too sure since this was a small authorized Bajaj showroom, somehow feel the noise is not from there. its an irritating noise which feels like some nut is loose

Have anyone of you all experienced anything like this. Just hope this is not from the Engine

If its a metallic sound, then maybe your mech is right. The bash plate on the front of the silencer at times get loose. This makes a vibrating metallic sound. Since this is just next to the engine, many mistake it for an engine sound. Check that out before you touch the engine.

                            Hope this helps.

As monk said it can be the heat plate getting loose. But from my experience , recently i too had a rattling sound coming from the engine area, at first it was at some time while riding,it would come and then go, in that fashion. Slowly it became more and more present. I though it was from engine and engine oil was low, but refilled it and it was not it. Later found out it was from exhaust area. My first guess was the heat plate loose issue, but it was not it , the box like thing under the engine which is a part of exhaust had some damage to it internally. Do get it checked. It caused a very annoying rattling sound while riding and i was practically unable to ride my bike due to that sound.

Just an another probable thing, so get it checked too.

That would be the Cat Con. There is no Cat Con on the P220 Fi (AFAIK)
